Alas, cWoW is almost up and running; but yet there is still some time before the official come back. I've noticed before this transition most of the Foreign Community in cWoW was spread relatively thin. Correct me if I'm wrong, but apparently with this company transition players prior to the event are given the ability to choose which server they want their characters to return to?

My question to the 'Community' is, where would you like the Foreign Community to go?

Personally I'm willing to relocate my character to Bronzebeard; so, I'll vote for the first option.

Though, if someone has another server in mind, were Alliance doesn't outnumber us 3 to 1, please tell us!

Another thing could be all going on a PvE server so Alliance and Horde Foreigners could all play. And BG against each other!

actually I still wonder how is the ping if you're playing from shanghai on Beijing servers. Surely when soloing wouldn't notice a difference, but in 25man raids I would be curious to see if the ping doesn't increase.

Other than that, laowaiGuy I don't believe in foreigners guilds anymore. We had one in the past who lasted for a while allowing us to raid kara(wow! -_-), but most of us are expats, some come, some leave, some are hardcore some are casual. It can work for 10man, but once you wanna move to something else it starts to become very difficult.

The best in slot solution you can have is finding a chinese guild with a nice GM and Raid leaders who will have the patience to take you and explain you things if you are new to the place. Tooks me ages to finally find one "thanks to ganaat who had the kindness to get me invited in" and frankly if I wasn't in that guild now I would have left the game caus it was really nosense to just playing for kara and zam pugs and some bgs. Seriously I have like 5 70s and only got my first t6 piece ever on my pally two months ago.

You won't have the fun you're looking for if you *stuck* with other foreigners, you need to make some chinese friends and it'll get you far into the content.

Now in the other hand I don't spit on the foreigner community in wow. On bronzebeard we get a chat channel where we can talk, even if we are not in the same guilds, you can gather fast for some 5mans or Bgs and of course have some conversations in english. But if you have already a good Chinese guild and leave all to move on Bronzebeard there's some chances that you will regret it.

PS: PVP hordside on bronzebeard sucks - 61%ally/39%horde ratio. When you go on the sunwell island depending the time it's full red on the screen.

Yeah, I think I will stay in the same place as I am in a decent Chinese guild with a few colleagues from work etc.

25man+ might be difficult to organise with a group of foreigners/expats - agreed, but even with a good Chinese guild 10man+ is pretty difficult.. keeping tabs on everything, trying to recognise names quickly, following the Chinese chat etc. It does mean asking quite a lot of the guild/group and slows the raid down quite dramatically when occasionally things have to be explained in English.

However, I'm a casual PvE player (albeit on a PvP server) and only occasionally actually join in with a raid or group. I've also never bothered with the PvP aspects like BG or arenas - they just don't interest me in the slightest. I enjoy solo adventuring, occasionally partying up with someone. Nor am I ever concerned about rushing to get to 70 and couldn't really care less about the T6/whatever stuff. I have several characters, one 70 but most in their 30s and 40s. I actually think I prefer the lower level content - most of it is far less monotonous and is more varied.

Laowaiguy I don't think They'll give the possibility to choose a new server next time you log in the game. They just canceled the restrictions you had to transfer within the servers. before it wasn't possible to transfer from shanghai to beijing now it will.
But be sure they won't give you the choice to select a new realm, caus I can't imagine how they would manage this: imagine several thousands of players willing to go on another server when the game's just up again... all the data to move etc.

Shanghai to Bejing ping isn't bad, I was playing it for a month, during off hours i was around 40 ms, normally around 80-100 ms so its really decent but the killer is from 8-11 where peak hours kick in then you climb to around 250ms. As far as 25 man goes its not a problem at all.

I agree that explaining a boss fight in two languages could be tough and I could easily see people getting quickly frustrated. But I mean that doesn't mean one guild isn't possible. People will naturally segment into different groups, I mean different people want completely different things from the games, some people like raiding, some people like lvling, and some people like PvPing.

I think what's more important is that its just more fun playing with others, basically the point of a MMORPG.

Bolo, I Wrath, getting high end gear doesn't require 25 raids anymore! There are 10 mans all over, and the gear is still accessible! You got these new marks coming up that are going to be able to buy things in Ulduar bu they drop in Heroics

Yeah I know, gear isn't exactly the same though.

I find would be nice to run 25 within a big chinese guild and doing the 10man runs with the other expats scattered on the realm.
I still find would be sad to lock ourself again in a small expat guild, caus events like a tank departure, or people tired of their chars and willing to reroll, or querels between peoples, can quickly get you from raiding to nothing.

yeah, I'm agreed, i like the guild i'm in for now. A nice mix of dedicated foreigners and local players. If i put the time in i get the rewards pure an simple. I have a place when we are up n running and for a tank that shit is hard to come by so i appreciate it. You need to read up on ur instances and not sit about waiting for it to be explained to you, especially because of the language barrier. there is a big difference between honest mistakes and people too lazy to read the tactics. Don't really know where i'm going with this only that I'm happy to help people out with stuff but when it comes to progression i don't wanna carry lazy players....what was the topic again???

Lol rectum I'm sure now you can't play wow you drink even more than before, to forget the game.

Other than that even if we are not really on-topic speaking about this, you speak the truth. And that's why I'd rather be a peon than an guild officer.

I don't know the requirements for PvE seems pretty easy as far as what I would demand. Be prepared and have common sense aka DO NOT STAND IN THE FIRE! But I do understand the frustration when people aren't prepared like they don't have the correct consumbles and haven't at least glossed over the tactics beforehand.

ack...sorry...drunk posting!

Yeah you got my point tho, just saying that while having an all foreigner guild is nice, but, I like the mix we have at the moment, i think its important to have local players in a raiding guild, above all whether expat or chinese for a PVE progression guild its important to know your stuff....haha yes Khelben....don't stand in the fire...even if it's a pretty blue colour. We alo gotta remember that we have been stuck with a pre patch for the last 6 months, that nerf stick is gonna wear off pretty fast once WOTLK arrives. I guess pretty much what Bol said. I have no idea about PVP though, I guess less important and actually an advantage to have other english speakers in guild/group?

Ashra you know you mention the nerf stick but acutally, it allows undergeared players to see the content without having to farm their boj gear or farm t5 for months. So more or less it balance the whole a little. Before the nerf attempting sunwelll wihtout having almost the whole raid in full HS/BT best in slots(requiring months of farming) was suicide. Now you more or less only require a well geared MT, some ok healers, but the nerf won't be so hudge caus your dps will kill slower(or eventually you'll attempt the boss with less than 25people), your tanks will take more hits etc. Ofc for people who already had the guild roster to farm sunwell it's a nerf.

Well just to say that we still deserve our kills ^^

By the time we get our WOTLK the nerf bat has already been swung hard. I mean being able to get T8 from farming heroics is pretty crazy. Naxx and Ulduar are going to be jokes by the time we get there since I think they're up to the 3rd raid encounter called the Collesium or whatever I believe.

Yeah That's pretty stupid caus the time we get the expension there will be like 3 tiers already available. Might spoil a little the experience

'wo shi shen jing bing" means i'm a maniac

there's also a possibilities for foreign 25raids. currently if we could have two RLs, both can read english, one leading the chinese, one leading the foreigners, we could have a very nice mixed guild. chinese guild members can join the raid if there's less foreigners in the raid so that the raid won't stop. one RL can choose to speak in TS, while the other speak in the game, so that nothing will be missed cos both RL understand each other, and nothing will be confused cos they speaks in different softwares.

now the only problem is to find a decent chinese RL, who can read and write excellent english. but once we find such man, it would be of great fun for both the chinese guild and the foreign community.

The problem with that is that people are not going to be on the same level of dedication. People aren't going to always be willing to essentially carry a member along who is undergeared. Like if we're raiding and I see people with PvP builds, or they don't have their food and flask buffs that would make me feel like they're not as dedicated.

What's the connection with finding a good raid?
I know you know a guy but, why ask him when CWoW comes? Ask him if we can join

DPS is nice n easy to get into a raid as long as you have decent starting gear , are buff ready (pots n oils etc) and have read up on your tactics. Healing is harder as you will be assigned grps or tanks etc, but tanking is a nightmare. With many CHinese guilds you end up stuck on ZAM farm duties and standby for HS,BT,SW It's taken me a long time to build up the gear the reputation and the confidence to get a starting spot in the current end game Raids, both within guild and with friends from other guilds. Its do-able with basic Chinese, a RL with basic English and a lot of reading. Even so reading tactics is a MUST but many guild do things differently...and they love to use BUGS here (which i hate). It's a pain in the arse but, for me, the most fun and rewarding class...free of damage meters and much more of a challenge in CWOW (i think if just used my DPS classes I would have lost interest a long time go). I know a few on our server who have put in the time and effort to gear up and raid, wipe after wipe to get their guild standing and T6 so i'm guessingthey also would be a little apprehensive to start again....but the beauty of bronzebeard is we have /english channel, a few of us are in different guilds but all chat on the same channel and often form up to help each other out with daily's and resets.

I guess m bottom line is, while I really like the idea of having all the foreigners together on on server as previous posts have said, past experience has shown that many are casual gamers mostly due to other commitments and that can be very frustrating for players who want to progress, the almost fanatical dedication of a Chinese guild is the best place right now for that. I'd hope that when wrath arrives, interest will peak and it will be great to be able to enjoy the new content together, that would be the best time to look at banding together, not much will change when the servers come back on line. Just a good chance to gear up, a solid set of T6 will carry you to 80 no problem.

besides beiing in chinese guild has its advantage if you'r lvl-ing toon. They will ride you to instances a lot and they will ask you to come first. Only payment is speak in english and answer questions, these kids are hungry for everything outside of China.

It was true for Beijing and true for Shanghai. Sadly in foreign guilds it doesn't happen much, unless u know the guy in real life. Or u have to ask many people to take you to instance to find the "right" man.

I disagree with the idea that people are "hungry for everything outside China." There is also definitely also an underlying resentment amongst a large part of the Chinese plyaers. I've often seen they are met with a foreigner who doesn't at least speak some chinese say "老外飞 I think tehre's a belief that foreigner players aren't as good and even though they may help you level, when it comes to anything serious that's a completely different note.

... hah? "hungy for everything outside China" nothing to do with foreign players suck in CWOW, which in many cases are true.

kids i met asks about school, lifestyle, music we listen, girls we seek, gets opinion on books, movies, line of cloths and again girls... etc.

If u haven't met anyone who is asking u these things ... may be u r in wrong guild.

my last toon I lvl-ed in 4 days. About half of time i spent in instance with chinese friends talking all sorts of stuff

To be honest I've never been asked that but also I'm not in a Chinese guild, I started playing again maybe for a month before the shut down so I was just messing around PvPing nothing serious PvE wise. I'm not really interested in discussing that kind of stuff while playing WoW so to each his own I guess. While playing WoW I usually just focus on whats going on the in the game. I don't really utilize it as much of a social tool.

haha, yeah I've found until u meet the right people it can be a loose/losse situation...if i type no Chinese they often take it as I'm a foreigner who doesn't know how to play or is not worth the time to explain, if i do use chinese i'm often called a poseur, them thinking I am a Chinese player showing off or even Japanese. It's not really until I get on TS they realise I am a genuine alcoholic western tank.

I see their point to a certain extent tho... many are younger players to whom their gametime is a priority, they dont have the extra time to chat or explain.

I go back to the time of the foreigners/valor and we had some great times, all levelling together and learning Raids (10 man) together, its just a shame that as a community we lack the people to regularly form 25 man raids and continue them over the week. I'm sure we have all been pissed off at the disconnects of local players after a wipe, leaving a team short...or the even more familiar scenario of people leaving just as ur about to enter the raid, thats where the basic social grace and consideration of a community guild would come into its own.

Its a nice thought having enough of us to repeatedly run raids for ourselves but i still think its unlikely to happen before wrath hits. Whatever happens the guys on our server know i'm always happy to lend a hand and everyone else seems to be of the same mindset.

so the bottom line is:

1) its more enjoyable for us if we have a decent sized foreign community in cwow atm

then why dont we just start counting heads? im sure there is enough of us. I mean im pretty desperate to play now and i guess all of you are as well.

It's not just the amount of players its also the fact that people have different levels of commitment and skill level in the game. The people who are on the more hardcore end will become frustrated with those on the casual end. But I may be underestimating how many foreigners play in China. Thre's also the question of the split between Horde and Alliance.

but hardcore or not, arnt the hardcore players in Chi guilds atm suffering form the communication barrier?

Id think it be more enjoyable to teach the noobs instead of feeling sorry because u failed to understand ur chi speaking leaders.

About the Horde/Alliance problem we could just start out on Pve servers, sucks as it may seem we have to start out somewhere right?

Well as a foreigner in playing CWoW shouldn't you feel obligated to learn some Chinese at least? Not learning Chinese would just seem kind of shortsighted to me. The strats are not really that complicated to follow. I mean the biggest thing for me was just learning what the classes were called. PvE is fairly straightforward and a lot of spells you see in instances are basically recycled from other encounters. It either CCs you, does damage, or does damage over time. I'm being overly general of course but I mean PvE shouldn't be hard to learn.

As for teaching noobs I don't have a lot of patience. If your not a quick learner or lack common sense I won't really teach anything about the game. You should really be learning about your class as you lvl.

Actually we are lucky to have Wotlk about one year after the EU/US(if it ever comes of course) caus we have already all the guides.

Now pogi420, as far as raiding goes I do prefer struggle with chinese people.
I'm not an assholedickhole and the reason is simple. Wow is my hobby. Trust me when you play as a hobby, and wanna "Do" the content, and can't caus you're playing with casual people who just play the game like you would play tetris on a mobilephone when you are in the subway, it's just not fun and very frustrating. I've nothing against noobs, caus a noob who is devoted will become a strong player after a few runs(it's just a game, not rocket science).
In europe you have many guilds, you have hardcore, pvp, casual, big, small guilds, guild of friends, and you can choose the one you wanna be in.
Now the only reason for foreigners to gather is.... language. If language is nice when you want to chat, it doesn't really serves you when you are in a guild with 13people online at peak time on friday and saturday and want to raid25man.
My chinese is very rudimentary, but when you've seen a guide, eventually a video of the encounter, you just need very few hints to know what you have to do.
It's really cool to have some people to talk with, but seriously, when I'm popping wings and spamming holy light on the tank, I'm flying high, and I don't give a shit that, said tank, is Chinese ^^.

You'll find bellow a realistic representation of a raid, with Ahsra(aka rectum) as MT. Starting from the left you can see that he's completly drunk, the OT next to him slightly perplex. Then you have the RL who realise with horror in what he stepped in. Most of the raid members will make big eyes and let a voiceless "wtf" escape their mouths. As you can see one of their healer already lost his mind and the other one, is busy resurrecting everyone.(It seems that usually both healers lose their mind before the end of the raid).

haha feeling the love!! all those blue bars are just more HP for meeeee

......anyone seen anymore news from netease? I can find nothing, guessing there are lying and there are no tech difficulties, perhaps probs with the9 not releasing all the data, stalling and causing problems? I'm not sure how it all works but it seems if blizz can have a brand new russian server up and running in 24 hours, even with characer data transfer, 530 hours and counting is taking the piss even by chinese standards...sure there is plenty going on we don't know about.. Sad

Yeah I'd say don't expect it this week, I'd say if we get it by the end of July it would be good. As usual don't expect them to tell you why you are really waiting for so long.

Btw guys, did someone try to play warhammer online on Chinese servers?(If servers exists yet ofc)
I think would be hudge if we could all meet on warhammer the time they fix wow, I'm sure the game must be addictive at least the time necessary to have wow back and running. How about we do some research on this?
