Guide: How to Install / Recharge your 27net VPN!

IMPORTANT READ FIRST !
: some people reported that after using a proxy service blizzard asked them to log onto their battlenet and change their password to make sure the account hasn't been stolen. Problem is you'll be asked to input your secret question when doing so. If you don't remember what you answered when you made your account make sure to go create a new secret question prior to login in the game with a proxy service.

Before you use 27net Proxy i strongly recommend anyone to use the trial first !

How To Install the free trial !

For the trial first Go to 27net You will see this page but then in Chinese, go to the option Free Trial.
Sidenote: Page is translated to english with google translate

Then you will come to the page below and you can download the trial.

Registration of your 27net account
-Step:1 make account.

Click Here! to go to the registration form.

Fill in your desired account name and press the left button below (next).
see image below

Fill in the rest of the form on the next page like so,
see image below
You dont have to fill in the Recommended by unless somebody recommneded this to you Smile

-Step:2 Click Here! to download the client (see picture above for translation).
Sidenote: if you did the trial you already have it.

I pay through taobao below you can see how that works, also paypal or credit card is available but I assume the method is similar than this.

-Step:4 On the menu on the left choose the second option (agent pay recharge).

-step:5 Choose your payment method as seen below and click the submit button.

The submit button is the one underneath cant see it in the above pic, so please check the one below.

-step:6 Confirm this is the button next to the blue line.
please see the image below

-step:7 You get link to the Taobao website to make the payment.

-step:8 After you recharged go to your account page
this is the page in the image below

-Step:9 Go to the 3th tab "Point vouchers" as in the image above and select the amount you'd like to charge into the account. Most likely you will need to confirm one more time but as I didnt recharge i dont have an image of this.

You're done...

I used netpass. As I see from 27net you can use unionpay and other to pay. I will try to make an account and ask a friend to explain to me. Gamecap is the software to download?

you can go into any 24-hour shop (as in watsons, alldays, quick, etc), get a recharge card for mobile phones, and use that.
no bank stuff needed.
you can even recharge via sms from yur mobile phone (but the cost is double, so dont do it).

with a mobile phone recharge card, you get about 5 1/2 months for a 100 rmb recharge.

if you gimme a lgin/pass of yours and a card number, i can activate n charge it for you, no probs.

on a sidenote:
from within china, the servers to use are usually those starting with D and with W.
D is supposedly bettter for china telecom and W for China netcom users.
but i found out that they ping equally godd /bad for me (when i say bad, its on real bad days where i cant get anything better than 300-500. that means that without a proxy i cant even log in. Smile )

ok, I finally got everything running with 27net, paid RMB100 for 130 days with a telephone recharging card.
The difference I noted so far, was basicaly that with VPN I had 200 to 300ms in cities, questing and 5 man dungeons.
Without VPN I get 300 to 400ms questing, 400ms in 5 man dungeons, 500 to 18'000ms in cities.
Eventhough I did not know what to choose in the settings, I was able to improve my ping, but I would like to get it down to about 150 to 200ms if possible.

I tried different servers and selected different options from the drop down menu. So this gives me a hughe amount of possibilities. Is there anyone that can help me to explain, what those options are?

The box where you choose the servers, there is a dropdown menu at the bottom, where you can choose something, from 1 to 8. What is this for?
On the bottom right side, there are two boxes you can select. Which one does what?
For the servers, do you just choose one that shows you the best ping on the right side before you log into wow? or do you choose from "D" & "W" servers or does it not matter.

Any explanation would help, since I realy dont know what to do.

Hi muhan

The drop down menu is to choose diffrent proxy server. 1-standard; 5-Taiwan ;6-Taiwan VIP !!! It's the same drop down as on the initial login screen.
The button on server browser bottom right doesn't do anything to improve latency, not sure what it is for.

Basicly you can only choose diffrent server to improve your latency!
There are no settings for the software to set up!!
Look above naklins post D is for china telekom user and W for unicom users.

I guess you should choose 5 for Taiwan and then a server with a good ping and start wow!

I don't believe that by changing the proxy provider or VIP service your latency will be improved down to 100ms it's just the server which has a bad connection proxy will just stabalize it.

Which line you have at home 1m ,2m,..... 6m?
I have 2m at the moment and on menethil my ping was stable 150ms without proxy, no disconnect in big cities and max 300to400 sometimes in dungeon at happy hour:)

now I hardly get 150ms with proxy on stormscale, common 200 to 300ms ,somehow the server must be located at the ass of Taiwan Smile

Thanks Stitch for the info and help. I will try nr.5 and see how my ping is this evening.
Concerning my internet connection, according to China Telecom I have the fastest available in Kunming, which is 1M. China Telecom said that if I wanted to have something faster, they could do it, but I would need to pay 8'000.- US dollar. That's right, not RMB but Dollars.
lol my ass, for sure I will give them allmost RMB60'000.- just to surf a bit faster.

since the re-opening of many realms, server pings have skyrocketed on MANY servers, even for taiwanese people.

this was the situation also BEFORE they locked all servers.
so, now that we are all together, lets hope they either lock them again, or they upgrade hardware or lease a pipe with more throughput. (talking about blizz).

the problem is neither the proxy soft, nor us, nor our REALM.
its the realm servers and worldservers, as they are carrying several realms at once (by battlegroups).
whenever our realm suckzors, servers on the same battlegroup are experiencing same spikes.
i tested and confirmed with toons on other servs.

Agree with nak but disagree menethil is one popular servers I think and even with locked ad unlocked states it gives me better pings then our courrent server at same times of the day.

tbh, i can only talk about the server when it was locked. and that was like sub-100 pingfest for me.
hell, without proxy i still had sub 500. ANYWHERE (except dalaran Razz ).
happened when opening.
then again, these last days i am stabilizing at permanent sub 200 again.i HOPE my routing tables have switched again.
Smile

and PS: all realms are about the same to me. when they crap out, they crap out.

i make a 27net.net guide this weekend (tomorrow).

people, if anyone can make guides for other services and upload them to vimeo it would be nice. we could have ONE thread, locked and sticky, for ALL proxies / vpn!

I hate having to look through 20 threads myself. so i can understand it if people dont find the stuff.

i strongly suggest to anyone making a guide, to use CAMTASIA (screencap software) to make video tutorials. its what i use (i make lots and lots of 3dsMAX and photoshop tutorials for the wow-machinima scene, and thats also what i use to make the guides for the max plugins i write).

we can then, upload to vimeo (since some ppl in china can't go to youtube), and make one thread with those.

Man I hate video tutorials lol. I only have a 512k connection.

We can do like the battlenet and client setup guides. One sticky that links to the different topics for each vpn. Like this questions who arise aren't all asked in the same topic either.

anyone who wants to "centralize" information is welcome to help. send me a pm, with links to the threads talking about the same topic, and i'll clean this up and make some stickies on top.

Short Question.

Any Idea why my Server list shows me weired symbols instead of Chinese Charachters? (WinXP, Win7)
Normally i have Chinese language support activated on all my mashines, the software shows Cinese charachters only the serveer list not, strange for me?

Someone else has the problem?

I had this problem until I made all my regional setting Chinese PRC, including the 'standards and formats' dropdown, and location and the non unicode programs dropdown in the advanced tab. I also ticked everything that had chinese or taiwan in it in the code tables list. To apply the settings I had to insert my win xp disk (well, mounted an iso with power iso) and navigate to the requested file, then system restart. Joy!

Once I'd solved that problem I found that I could log in to 27net fine with the trial account, but that I had two additional problems: 1) that the trial account would only connect to the Taiwan servers (solved by paying 27 kuai via alipay for a 30 day pass), and 2) WoW would load when I clicked the icon in 27net, but would crash when I tried logging in with my wow account (solved by unticking the first check box in the first settings page (the one with all the servers in it, that has the darker orange cog that isn't at an angle to the screen). This checkbox is 'secure mode' that is apparently only used in internet cafes for some reason. Uncheck it, and leave the other checkbox unchecked too.

Result: < 200ms ping to Shanghai realms from Beijing Smile

good to know, so ppl living in Beijing and would want to play on CN1 now have a solution. Even if their connection is not 20ms, at least it is playable. Guess PVP would be ok, if it is around 150ms.
So transfers are available and any one who wanted to play on CN1, but didn't due to too high lag, use 27net and enjoy CN1 foreigne community Smile

Bumping the post since it can be of use for some people in the future. The download link must be updated, better point to the download page than the download link.

StiXx another thing, i checked the website and it looks totally different than on the screenshot. I couldn't find the payment by sms anymore too. Seems you can only recharge it via the mobile phone cards which is still a very convenient way.

Do you want to update the guide yourself or we start something new? The sooner the better

Wow thanks a lot AV, very clean guide. I'm gonna sticky it in the technical section.

Edit : I'll add a section for those who just wanna pay with a mobile phone card instead of taobao.

don't know if this of use to anyone but 27net also do a '46' service, which seems to either be a premium service or one just geared for Taiwan users. Desc + google translate is below, if anyone can shed any light on it?

Quote :
47代理是为高端台服魔兽玩家专门定制的网络加速器,采用更高质量的中-台直联链路作为加速通道,可以实现更高的稳定性和更低的游戏延迟。

"47 agent for high-end players to tailor the service station network Warcraft accelerator, using higher quality - the Taiwan Direct link as acceleration channel, can achieve higher stability and lower game delay."

Also, you arrive at a different webpage if you don't put the www in the url - i use http://www.27net.net, which doesn't take you to the ipmana.com site, and seems to have more info on it, like the 46 service

hope that helps!

That service is a VIP service cost a little extra and is user limited. Used it for one month but didn't improve anything for me so I choose the normal service afterwards

Cant really tell just how much the 27.net helps.
It definatly helps, and I'll be signing up for it, but...
I think connection here is based on the service provider.

DONT USE GREAT WALL
While they many have realy good people working there. Namely, the service people hooking you up, the connection is just plain bad.

Funny thing is we called China Telecom to put a modem and phone in.. They said we cant have service because there's no new phone line. (the one in the wall is "too old")
How can we get a phone line if the PHONE COMPANY wont put it in?
Sigh, this is in Shenzhen at a building less than 10 years old.

I feel like I was kicked out of a restaurant for not bringing my own food.
