I'm starting to try this fix that Stitch has so kindly found for us but as I am not all that computer savvy I am already having problems.

#2. Get yourself the MPQ Editor from http://www.zezula.net/en/mpq/download.html
- I went to the website, only to find multiple versions of "the MPQ Editor"
MPQ Editor v 3.2.0.607 (32-bit, english, 493 KB)

MPQ Editor v 3.2.0.607 (64-bit, english, 523 KB)

MPQ Editor with listfiles v 3.2.0.607 (32-bit, english, 1.32 MB)

MPQ Editor with listfiles v 3.2.0.607 (64-bit, english, 1.35 MB)

MPQ Editor v 3.2.1.626 BETA (32-bit, Unicode, english, 493 KB)

MPQ Editor v 3.2.1.626 BETA (64-bit, Unicode, english, 523 KB)
------
If someone who knows what they're doing could tell me which one I'm supposed to be downloading, I'd deeply appreciate it. I'm a little too nervous about corrupting my Chinese game to just start randomly guessing now.

3.Get yourself the Fixed WoW.exe from http://www.gamefront.com/files/20550774/Wow_fixed%28mfil%2Csignaturefile%2Cpatchlimit%29.zip

I take it that this is the WOW_HC.exe that they are talking about in step 7?
And if this exe is in our WOW folder do we have to take out the old WOW.exe? or just leave it in there?

Those are my first two questions for now...thank you for any help you can provide!

Rei for your first question it depends if you have windows 32bits or 64bits. But I guess you use the 32bits.

For your 2nd question Stitch would have mentioned you'd have to take out your wow.exe if that was the case. They don't have the same name so they won't erase each other.

One more thing, you better make a copy of your game if you have enough space on your hard drive. So if you mess something you won't have to redownload again.

Hi Rei,

Hope this helps:

Windows Vista or Windows 7
If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7, there are two methods to determine whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version. If one does not work, try the other.
Method 1: View System window in Control Panel

Click Start
Start button
, type system in the Start Search box, and then click system in the Programs list.
The operating system is displayed as follows:
For a 64-bit version operating system: 64-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.
For a 32-bit version operating system: 32-bit Operating System appears for the System type under System.

Method 2: View System Information window

Click Start
Start button
, type system in the Start Search box, and then click System Information in the Programs list.
When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, the operating system is displayed as follows:
For a 64-bit version operating system: x64-based PC appears for the System type under Item.
For a 32-bit version operating system: x86-based PC appears for the System type under Item.

If you cannot determine the operating system bit count with these methods, go to the "Next Steps" section.

Windows XP
If you have Windows XP, there are two methods to determine whether you are running a 32-bit or a 64-bit version. If one does not work, try the other.
Method 1: View System Properties in Control Panel

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
Click the General tab. The operating system is displayed as follows:
For a 64-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional x64 Edition Version < Year> appears under System.
For a 32-bit version operating system: Windows XP Professional Version <Year> appears under System.
Note <Year> is a placeholder for a year.

Method 2: View System Information window

Click Start, and then click Run.
Type winmsd.exe, and then click OK.
When System Summary is selected in the navigation pane, locate Processor under Item in the details pane. Note the value.
If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with x86, the computer is running a 32-bit version of Windows.
If the value that corresponds to Processor starts with ia64 or AMD64, the computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows.

OK using sysdm.cpl it says:

Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
(Chinese characters) 2002
Service pack 3
--
--
-all this is in Chinese--
--
-
-
AMD Anthlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 4600+
2.41GHz, 2.00GB (Chinese characters)

As for the file download, do I need the 32-bit regular one, with list files, or the BETA

So I'm guessing that it's a 32, I tried to check with the winmsd.exe but it wouldn't let me.

Thank you so much...I'm sorry for giving you so many problems. I feel like an idiot sometimes. But this is really my first computer that wasn't DOS and the whole thing is done in Chinese so I've never messed with it much. (And hubby decided to start chatting with his friends instead of helping me- I guess I'm just being impatient)

worship
THANK YOU!!!

Actually I'm pretty patient with what you guys are doing...I have complete faith in you. It's my lazy husband who likes to chat instead of help me out that's my concern. Razz Instead of looking all this stuff himself- because I have no idea what this technical stuff is about. What he tells me is "get all the information and when you're 100% sure of what you've got, tell me. Of course I never know what 100% sure of a technical answer is...so I ask a billion questions and bug the heck out of most of you I'm sure.
