The baseline of this post is for those new to TBC. Based from my experiences. I will details some important quest that you guys should follow, note that I haven't done all the quests in Shadowmoon Valley and the Netherstorm yet. I will not mention Dungeon questslines in here.

First map you would be is in
******Hellfire peninsula (Recommended level 58-63)********
Instance: Hellfire Citadel

Here is where you will first set foot on the outland. The map here involves a lot of kill monster count with same average amount of get items from monster count. This map is involved 1/2 group 1/2 solo quests.

Notable Quests:

Trinkey questline
There is a quest that involves a trinket here that you could use in conjuction with another trinket. However the questline isn't that long, about 8 steps and its fun. completely soloable except the last boss
The trinket is extremely good and the equivalent of black hand breadth/eye of the beast with an on use effect.
http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10136
Upgrade level : Great

Chest Armor questline
Another quest here that involves a blue chest armor which could replace t1 Smile

*********Zangarmarsh (61-63)************
Instance: Coilfang

This map is a pure solo/ pick up items quests; with a small share of elite quest involved.
Notable Quests: To be updated
Can't remember any good quest in here, besides the typical farm reputation.

********Terokkar Forest (62-65)***********
Instance: Auchindoun

This map is where you'll find Shattrath City; and will probably become your most hated/favorite place in the game. You'll be surprised when you see familiar opposite faction players spitting on you and you can't attack them, but neither can they lol

Terokkar Forest start off with 2 homes, for your faction and for SC (Shattrath City) and at the same type it is a major turn since in one of the entrance quest to Shattrath city involves you to choose between the Aldor faction and the Scryer faction. I recommend you to search the rewards for the exalted level of these two factions before you make your choice.

Notable Quests: TO BE UPDATED

Big boner questline: This questline starts off with escorting some dwarves and ends up with you and at least 2 party members on fighting a big worm, however you should keep in mind that the reward on this quest are only 3 daggers.

UPGRADE LEVEL: Medium

Arakkoa Questline:

*********Nagrand (64-67)*********
Instance: None
This is where the kick comes in, this map involves many group quest from 2 people group quest to a full group quest, most of the final quests here are elite, for some classes it is easy to solo, but most of them its is not possible.

Notable Quests:
Ring of Blood Questline: This is a questline that ends up with a great weapon the minimal requirement is of level 65 however you might need a full party for this, and make sure EVERYONE on the team is on the same step to avoid repeated kills. The NPC to start up the quest are on the northwest corner of the map http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=18471
UPGRADE LEVEL: High

Hero of the Mag'har Questline: This questline...you could call it tedious but the reward is worth it; along with reputations that you can get for the maghar faction. However this questline DOES NOT starts unless you have completed the blademaster's chain and altrius' chain.
So as soon as you get to Nagrand start up with all the kill ogre quests; you'll eventually end up in this chain.

UPGRADE LEVEL: High

****************Blade edge's mountain**************
An average map, similar to hellfire peninsula. You find a small share of elite quests (actually there are only 2 or 3) and a large amount of solo quest.
Notable Quests:

Rexxar's Questline:

Death's door Questline:

did they change the drops for the old raids like MC and BWL? cuz if not then what's the reason anyone would raid when they hit lvl60?

I mean raiding doesn't give any XP, and T1,T2 and even some T3 is replaced by Outland's green. Therefore by raiding the old raids in TBC one would be stagnant in their lvl; forced to spend 6+ hrs at the raid and get average gears (comparatively speaking).

besides for the sake of completion is there any benefit for raiding old raids in TBC?

Some T1. T2 and T3 are still better than 60-70 blueys, and you wont get the purples for awhile keep that in mind... and nope Greenies can't replace the good pre TBC purples; maybe *some* of the green can replace Tier 1. Some raiders will have a tough choice on gears.

But yeah no one goes to old raids no more.

You mean the level 70 equipment? They are level 70 blueys, you can try and farm them during honor weekends, it costs around 25,000 honor points for each weapon and you need 20 badges from the new battleground. I haven't seen many guns and bows on the new instances so I recommend you that you get the level 70 pvp ranged equipment. I recall that there are a couple of blue equipment which you can use until you ding 70; thru quests and some small instances.

There is a 1-2 week of pre TBC (at least on tw server there was) before the portal opens; during that time I recommend you to battleground a lot to get bunch of honor points so when the portal opens you go and level up without that much of a concern for level 70 weapons and use whatever you find during ur 60-70.

Compared to those level 70 GrandMarshal/highwarlords' nope not worth it.
Compared to some 60-69 equipment just so so, you'll have a tough decision.

there Smile

to ownage:
the guy who replaces his T3 with outland "greens" should be kicked where it hurts him most and get his account perma-banned and his credit card revoked.
any guy who SUGGESTS so, apply the same rule.

now..... please bend over... thx.

lol naklin you're just pissed because the items you took months to farm will be replaced by greenies Razz seriously I don't know about other class but there was a site(can't remember the link, it was on the wow official forum) that show all the greenie items that replaces the ROGUE'S T1 to T3 now it MAY not applied to other classes I maybe assuming too much. ownage. i am not pissed.
i won't ned to replace.
i will have less STA beofre 70. no biggie. i kill stuff faster anyways.
at 70 i will start to replace.
my hunter( god forbid he be under 60) WILL gear in outlands quests, because he has no end-game gear. Naklin.... won't.
lemme put it this way:
give me 1 hour, i will update my player profile for your sorry bum,
then, because you made your statement, you go and find me items under 68-70 (which is basically same instance) better than my gear now.
any substantial upgrade that i couldn't PASS. outland greens were your words. (i'd be happy about blues though).
if you dont find greens, then write:
"i was WRONG, sorry for not having end game gear and knowing how to use it fully and making misleading statements"
then post a list of blues, if you want.
then i will make a statement like:
"sorry for not considering blues. yes, end-game gear like mine will be easily replaced in less than 1 week"

deal?

i will also not what i noted in some other posts before (too lazy to find them. search...).
i am using a blue ZG neckpiece (ROOOOOOOFL) which i might replace easily. my staff probably as well, fast.
rest of pieces? little probability.

you will only get me to replace it for a simliar drop if it has sockets and is a SUBSTANCIAL improvement. even now, i dont roll on "everything", just because its higher tier / dungeon than my current eqp. i roll on substantial improvements. i pay attention to gear.

again... wait for my updated profile, then PLEASE, back up your statement with item links. i WANT TO KNOW where those UBER GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENS are that will render my T3 obsolete.

dummschwaetzer...

there you go.
Naklin, [60] Undead Mage.
Proud to be a member of the Horde.

This would be my DMG setup.
I will now continue to find itemlinks for all the crap i have in my bags with me, because i change gear and equip gear on ever situation / boss / kind of trash mob differently, to maximize efficiency.

I will edit this post accordignly.
you might notice, i am wearing UBRS drops. they might get replaced by some faction drop of the scryers, for example (NOT an outland GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN).

EDIT:

Alternate gear by slot:
HEAD
Netherwind Crown (+18 Spell Damage / +1% To Hit with Spells)

NECK
    Jeklik's Opaline Talisman

SHOULDERS
Netherwind Mantle (+18 Spell Damage and Healing)

BACK
    Chromatic Cloak (+15 Fire Resistance)
Onyxia Scale Cloak (+15 Fire Resistance)

WRIST
Bracers of Arcane Accuracy (+ Mana Regen 4 per 5 sec.)

HANDS
Netherwind Gloves (+20 Frost Spell Damage)

WAIST
    Mana Ignition Cord

FEET
    Ringo's Blizzard Boots

WANDS
    Thoughtblighter
    Torch of Austen
    Banshee Finger
    Rod of Corrosion

TRINKETS
    Eye of the Beast
    Talisman of Ascendance
    Rune of Dawn
    Mind Quickening Gem
    Eye of Moam
    Zandalarian Hero Charm
(i think i am only missing ToEP, as far as caster DPS trinket are concerned)
(i have more, but they are for resistances only and for pvp and fun, and its too long to list them. same goes for Darkmoon card trinkets. Have them.)

I still have offhands off Battlegrounds (all AV offhands), the ones from MC, Ony, etc, and the
Talon of furious Concentration
but i am hoping for the AQ40 one off the twinz on next run. NICE! ^^

i got the silly silithus rep sword, mageblade (which both i dont use, i keep them for the fun), i still have my Staff of Dominance with +22 INT enchant for MASSIVE Mana (gives me 1.5 more blizzards before OOM. actually 2 FULL blizzards, if i count my mana regen gear), in order to equip it for first cast, then switch to DPS staff.
Then there is some more goodies. But yes, this could probably be replaced, in terms of "efficiency".

Done... waiting for your kind lecture in green gear for TBC.

PS: in the US, PRE-TBC, you didn't see that many mages / casters with that gear (or healers, with VICHY's [guildmate] gear).
The fraction of really high en raiders int he west is smaller than in the east. here, truly everybody has access to these instances.
So when i read US forums whining about DMG, or talking about upgrades, i keep that in mind.
Lets face it, the "average Mage" in the US has half the output of our mages here. sad, but true.
don't just swallow what you read somewhere about upgrades. doublecheck it.
last time i checked, was about 1 month ago.
maybe since then, some new item dropped and have been added to databases. thats why i am asking you. maybe you know something i dont. but by that time. there was almost no viable upgrade before 68-70.
and for SURE no outland GREEN.

NAK's 2 cents

PPS: another thought for someone who is so pro-pvp and con-raid...
how many hours does someone have to be actively in battlegrounds and pvp-ing to get "end game - like" gear (R14), and how many hours (note: hours,, means net playtime) do raiders have to raid for it?
i think both come very close.
