Anybody as a clue about how to get and install this new patch for non-chinese WOW game ?

I didn't find it on the usual mirror patch website.

Is there any devil developper on the forum to help us on it ? (Evil patch ... here we go again).

I made one topic with good title to prevent us to have the same questions to answers everyday, because the information is hidden in other topic with non according title.

I hope it will help people to find easily the answer to the patch problem.

But for the moment, still no solution. Maybe we will have to wait the 2.2 patch and all Chinese people at lvl 70 before us

Thats why i swear to god I won't hand out a solution if i can find one but noone helps and just dicks around in outland while i bust my balls.
Let's ALL of us try to find a solution. Fact being. The hard part is the SOLUTION. Easy part is implementation.
Usually a solution can be found with normal logic and no PC / programming skills at all. just the "what we need to do. not the "how".

Then we can ALL play outland, and happy.
so stop hanging out in outland, you won't die, and help us out all.

i am playing with english client.
5 minute workaround.
thanks to lepanda's great inspiration of how much help i coudl expect, i will say:
you do not need ANY knowledge of computers to fix this.
you need some files off the chinese client only again.

i zipped them and am uploading them.
do like lepanda does, walk around in outlands and have fun.
i will post the link, hmmmmm tomorrow?

The file you uploaded is an old version of WoW.exe or at least I get quite an error string when I execute it (and the file version says 1.x).

I'm in the States right now and it'd be great if you or someone could post the working WoW.exe!

backup all files in root folder.

put files from zip into your wow root and overwrite your.
load wow.exe

Many thanks for the prompt solution! I had tried replacing the exe file, but not the others. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem I was having earlier.

I downloaded the zip, backed things up, replaced the files. Everything goes smoothly until I try to log in. At that point I get a pop up that tells me my account is a TBC account, but I don't have TBC installed on my computer. The pop up gives a link to worldofwarcraft.com/burningcrusade/download but that appears to require a US account to access.

1. I'm using the US client downloaded from the worldofwarcraft.com trial.

2. I have not used the computer outside of China, nor played on non Chinese servers.

3. I was not having trouble using a Chinese account until this patch.

4. Highest level character is at pre-TBC content levels ... in the 40s.

I downloaded the Patch, and my chinese game works, can go to Outlands and stuff...

But I didn't understand how to play In FRENCH, can somebody make a summary of the way to change files and all ???

Please I dont understand a word of my quests...

In answer to the request for a summary:

The zip file appears to replace most of the non text files in the main (root) directory with the files from the current patch of the Chinese version. I suggest downloading the zip file that Naklin kindly and promptly provided (taking time when he could have been romping in Outlands). Go to your root directory and rename each of those files by adding something like .oldworking. Now, copy the unzipped files to your root directory and you should be able to play.

Caveat -- This is one of those "book" answers that may not work for you. I'm having some trouble, but assume it is because I've got something set strangely on my computer.

And does it work with French version ?

I have French version of WOW.

I followed the instructions,:
.make a backup of /wow/root directory files.
.Copy/paste the zip content files on wow/root directory (accept to write on the other files of the same name : "remplacer/écraser les fichiers")
.launch the game with wow.exe

Must be something I'm doing wrong, after renaming all, and put all unzipped file in WOW folder, the game is still in chinese...

So i extract all unzipped files in FR wow root directory, I try to connect, and on the login screen (version 2.1.4 (7192)) is written but when i connect it writes :

Impossible de valider la version du jeu,...blabla

Ok. Now I use the Launcher to launch the game, it works, it recognizes my password and PIN, BUT when I select the servers, none are available, I mean, I can't see servers ?!?!

I've considered the Burning Crusade download and read the sticky here about how to download it. As far as I know US users can use a non TBC version to play pre TBC content but require TBC for the TBC content. The worldofwarcraft.com trial for TBC appears to require an existing US account (perhaps I misread) as do the other official links. The torrent linked in the sticky does not work for me, but might be blocked by various firewalls and such given some of the advertising.

Google and other search engines are my friend, but one never knows how reliable the sites are ... and keyloggers have become too common.

It appears some/most are getting their non Chinese client to work. Do you have TBC installed? I would have guessed most would not since China has been a pre TBC environment until now. Could someone verify if we need to go hunting for TBC even to play non TBC content?

For my side, I have the complete WOW classic game French version installed (with all the CDs)

I downloaded and installed TBC from wow China (2,33gigas).

Before installing Naklin patch, I was playing on 2.3.xxx version with TBC installed.

I also have all the classic wow with french Cd's but my BC comes from france, i installed it with my french cd's of BC..

My only problem is that there are no servers on which I can play..

My password and account works,.. I don't know why there are no servers..

can anyone tell me where i can download tbc?

I remember an old problem like that, where you can't change or choose server.
If you know your server name in China, you can edit (with wordpad) the "config.wtf" file on /WOW/WTF directory:
.at line SET realmName "冰风岗" you have to put your server name; mine appear like that on my computer (french Windows)
.you have also to write your server number at SET realmList "cn4.grunt.wowchina.com", I am on server 4.

Verify if you have something written at these lines, if no, your problem will be to know which name to use for which server number.

You have to install TBC to play TBC...

OK, a quick and ugly fix for the problem I was having -- WARNING, I am not a computer type so use this at your own risk!

In addition to copying the files in Naklin's zip, get "expansion.MPQ" size 1.5 GB and copy it to the Data file in your WoW directory.

I've just gotten this to work and have not had a chance to test it with the new content. At this point, all I can say is that it will let you log on.

Known issues:

Log in screen has no picture or messages.

Some add ons may not like this fix. Mob Info 2 didn't.

I suggest backing up things like your account info and saved variable files before you try this.

I'm not sure how useful this is, but I wanted to go on and hit the auction house before prices went crazy. Copper ore has already gone up to 10g per stack.

Of course you need TBC, find it on wowchina, can't give you a direct link, i dont know where to DL it...

That is both true and a bit misleading.

Outside of China TBC is an expansion pack that you have to buy and apply to the game.

It appears that much of TBC was included in the change over from the "evil patch" and activated with today's patch. Since it came out as a surprise, I have yet to hear of it actually being sold as an expansion pack. I suppose that might follow.

Outside of China, it is possible to play pre TBC content without upgrading to TBC (or so I am told).

Today, some of us found that our non Chinese clients wouldn't load because our accounts were now flagged as TBC, but TBC was not on our computers. In my case that meant I couldn't even do simple things like log on to do a frantic check of the auction house, a pretty solidly non-TBC activity. For people in that particular situation, they have been unable to play any aspect of the game ...TBC or non TBC.

So far, using the work around with the expansion.MPQ file from a patched version of the Chinese client seems to work fairly well. I'm not at a level to check Outlands, but did start and level characters from the new races. Quests have been showing OK and I haven't hit any bugs yet. It is probably still a better idea to use the MPQ files from a TBC version of the non Chinese client, but I haven't found a reliable download so far. I'm reluctant to try the trial version because there were reports of some people having trouble with US/European accounts.

er.. no on the "expansion.mpq" bit.. it won't get you in the door..

If it is working for rhodekylle, I will try it.

I have a download of the TBC installer, from one of the addresses in the FAQ forum, running at about 4kbps. The estimated time it will take is 7 days, but I think that is just the maximum shown when it will take longer.

Guys, I see some of you in Beijing. Do you know any CD shop where we can go and buy the english TBC exp.? and just install it?
