My friend recently just had his account hacked. I did some research it seems like hacking happens quite often in china wow, hence i guess that is the reason they produced the matrix anti-hack proteciton system where u can scratch out and find behind the card. I'm wondering are you able to use that anti-hack matrix number system if your using the english version of wow? Also, for english wow version can you log into an account that requires the matrix system? If not, how do you guys protect yourselfs from being hacked? Thanks!

you cna use it. thats what the patch 1.12.3 was about.
in versions higher, its in the resources.
US versions didn't have matrix system patch (1.12.3), but its included in higher versions of game (the resources needed for it).

our "custom patch solution" which makes the US game work on china version 1.12.3 has these files added, as the login procedure (even if you dont use it) checks for them.

i use the matrix system on all ym accounts.

The9 will NOT (they made a press release about it) recover your char for you if you are not using the matrix card service.

How to use it?

The matrix system is a system utilizing the reload card's number matrix as a KEY to log into wow. In guangzhou for instance most people only use reload cards to recharge, but I know some smaller places in china you need to reload your account in an internet cafe.

don't laugh, I couldn't find one frigging reload card in ningbo it's right below shanghai and it's one of the main port in china.

as to how to use it........like registering an account, it would be much easier if you got a chinese friend or a friend that know chinese to help you out.

i will try to make a post and include it in FAQ about it with pictures (because i ahve to swithc my matrix card. they are only valid for so long. as i have to redo the process, i might as well guid you through)

make the matrix card system in order to have a right to recover your account. be very careful with it.
i just got into my first wow account of someone else who is using matrix card....
the card system is safe enough for keyloggers. the9 has other flaws.

no time now. sitting in car and using CDMA mobile connection on laptop. not so good ping.

Long time I have not posted but this time is just to share with you my sadness of have been hacked.

So even if I got the matrix protection system some guy has been able to hack my account on which I got 3 lvl 70.

I called The9, they requested me to send 300RMB to help me recover my account, I did it...but after several weeks it is still not OK. I called them again and now the request some 500RMB more... I refused , I believe The9 is just cheating me ... they just want to get money but no action is done ...

So no more Faguopal, no more Aser, no more Prayforyou ...

In fact it was one of my Chinese colleagues who helped me for this problem and she found a web site on which there was an assistance phone number (089 888 087 005), then she called and they present them selves as The9 .

But as the problem was not solved she continued to investigate and she found other number, also The9 , but this time they said that the previous number is a fake …

So finally I’m still not able to take back my IDs .

Get hacked too, i searched my character on the armory, but i think that they changed his name and moved to an other server...I called the9, they asked my a copy of my ID card, but i don't remember wich card i used to create my account, and the only thing they can do for me is to freeze my account for a few moment.

Got hacked too, I lost all of my gold. One day i tried to login, but i couldnt, because my password was changed. So i recovered and changed my password, then logged in. But all of my gold was gone...
Before my account hacked, i played in wangba.
Now when i login, I copy and paste my password, is it usefull?

I would say: yes, because you are now completely protected by keylogers. I don't know how those viruses are made sooo... I can't confirm.

You can protect your self by using the matrix card system, or buy the Chinese wow authenticator. When you play in game, sometimes, a message will appear in your chat window that is written in Chinese but has a link of a the9 shop thing... I copied it once and sent me to a page for the Chinese authenticator. You can try and set that up, but I think it will all be in Chinese. You should also regularly check you PC for viruses (Scan) and/or get a mac *wink*
