3. Then drop it in your wow directory and replace the existing one (don't forget to do a back up)

4. Change your realm again

5. Play

I have exactly the same problem. I installed the game on 2 different computers and the problem is the same??????

with the patch 2.1.2 I was able to play in MaDuoLan but I was also unable to change realm, with this 2.1.3 nothing !!!

i am in nanjing right now, finalizing a contract that took me 8 months to get with a client (those nasty little buggers are a pain for business. they are like murlocs)

anyways, as soon as i get my behind back home to shanghai, i will look into your little trouble and try to recreate at home.

i have a business appointment this evening though around 7pm, so it might not be before 9-10pm that i get home.
i will try to get a solution or more information by midnight or so.

I dont know but it might be creating some conflicts.

I only installed the fonts patch so i could see chiense writing AFTER the problem with not seeing realms as it was recommended but i can still not see the realms... appreciate all the help u ugys have given so far=P

I have made some tests and hereafter are the results:

1- I installed the Chinese version and it worked fine (at least I have that hehe), so I connected to 玛多兰
2- I installed the French version, but after I inputted my Account name and Password I got a windows to choose the realm but it was empty
3- I copied the WTF folder of the Chinese version and all his content to my FR version (of course I saved my original WTF folder first…)
4- I started my FR game and ...surprise…in the bottom right of the screen (just above the Quit button) I saw 玛多兰 in grey characters and when I inputted my Account name and Password I was able to access and play…COOL. But if I wanted to change the realm the window was still empty…
5- I quitted and connected again on Chinese version but this time on 耐萨里奥, everything worked fine…
6- I quitted and copied again the WTF of the Chinese version and all his content in the FR version
7- I started my FR game and ...surprise again…this time in the same place (just above the Quit button) I saw 耐萨里奥 in grey characters and when I inputted my Account name and Password I was ableto access and play…COOL AGAIN. But if I wanted to change the realm the window was still empty again…

I hope it will help the experts to find a solution…

I would suggest looking at the WTF file, the adress should have been different, i am pretty sure you can have more than one line in the file.
woudl it work if you had both adresses in the same file?

Well i, dont have the chiense game on this comp but i have it at home...so anybody got any idea why we cant see any realms on the list?

I have had the same problem before when I reinstalled everything on my computer, after -deleting- the folders.

yes i did the same to come back into maduolan realm, romainh send some folders to me few days ago, not the full WTF but just some saved variables...

Just checked my German Client and have the same Problem, can not see the realms. I did not change my realms in the past but at least i know the last time on Evil patch it was still working(Yes font is installed).

I would say it has something todo with the new patches but have no other solution then Green, use your Chinese WOW to change realm and copy the WTF Folder afterwards to your English Client.

Another guess it must have something todo with the build number and that we use the Chinese exe in the english WOW...just a guess!!!!

I have a solution prilamary...which worked for me!!!!!

1.Open your WTF folder and find the file called "config.wtf"
2.Use notepad to open and view
3.Find the line SET realmName "玛多兰"
4.Change the Chinese Charachters or maybe English realm name to "玛多兰" !!!!!
5.Save the file dont forget to make a backup !
6.Start WoW with Fonts installed u can see the realm down right side as 玛多兰
7.Login and WOW sugest a Realm push ok and watch the Empty list
8.Push back to go back to login screen (You must use the sugestion one time otherwise he repeats it always!!!)
9.Login again and bumb you are in the Charachter screen

This works to change to any realm if you know the Chinese name
and follow above instructions!!!!!!!

I tested it with the Chinese realm from green and worked well!!!

I did mys tests, even though i was busy like hell.
As correctly stated by others above, YES, the realmlists are EMPTY, and nothing can be selected. this is a major problem.

Stitch posted what i was about to say.
You need to get to your config.wtf file inside your wtf folder and add the realmname variable.
his solution is the only one currently working and the cleanest. please trust it.

GreenMoon: your copying the WTF folders, copied that config.wtf file as well. thats why it worked for you. you could have saved copying files, by just copying that one.

i will try to find a way to actually have the realmnames visible again.
My theory is simply that blizzard uses another font (yet again) for the realmlist, so i might have to rename / recopy one font file. thats all.

will do the tests on the weekend. have been quite busy these days with work and travelling around. peace.

my pc seems to not want me to be able to play -_- i did all the steps described by you and i bet they work! however, now is where i need help: i changed the "SET realmName" to my server by copy+paste, however, when i want to save it, this message pops up that "unicode" fonts are lost when saved in the ANSI format. i tried doin it anyway and the server name now appears as a "????" and therefore logically doesnt work. i tried saving in the 3 other filetypes where the chinese is still readable (in the config.wtf file) and then opened my wow, which then creates a completely NEW config.wtf file so all the stuff i wrote in it is gone again. i guess this means that wow can only read those .wtf files that are in the ANSI format, but i cant change the realm there!

it simply means you are not saving files in unicode format.
unicode is required when using chinese characters.

1) open the file in notepad.
2) do the editing and crap you have to do and copy paste the realmname inside.
3) chose SAVE AS...
4) you have 3 fields on bottom. file name / file type / encoding. in ENCODING, select UTF-8
5) save your file.

problem is, you need to do this in the and, after wow created on for itself. beacuse it'll create one with more crap in it per default, i guess.

please also pay attention to the special termination characters for each line of text, as they are encoded, and your set realmlist thingie should be preceded by one.

you might try first with a empty file with only the realmlist line in it.

So Naklin what are we going to do ,my mean, how we get the build version of the exe rebuild. I believe you also see that the set Language"deDE" is in the config file and i belive that string has a conflict with the chinese .exe!

Anyway it works lets hope the next patch brings back same build numbers!

ok i got the game to work (somewhat) but the realmlists dont show. . i can use the above methods to get onto the maduolan server but not the 澳得兰克 server. . . and thats sorta the one i wanted to play on. . .are servers 1 and 4 no longer connected???

Since I dropped out of IT-collage many years ago, how do I "open" and "pull out" anything from a file like this? It is a point'n'click operation or something that involves knowledge
