I've followed the process of prepping my US client to play on the new netease servers, but I still just hang at authenticating. I'm all updated, with the right root files and all. I've tried launching with skeleton.exe. What'm I doing wrong?

You need to create a chinese battlenet account

BUT BE VERY CAREFULL!!!! You'll need a legit chinese ID number and the name of your battlenet account must be the same than the owner of the chinese ID.

If you can find a trusted friend to let you use his ID it would be great caus any chinese ID you get from the net could be potential scams.
