i know this has been covered but i have a question.

my wow works fine and everything and i can see characters, but i just cant type them. i know how to fix that, but i was wondering if there was another way seeing as i dont have the CDs...

I dont get your point, u installed the fonts to see the chinese Characters? Writing Chinese is coming from your Windows settings there is another thread where it is explained how to set up.

Mine works fine for both Writing and reading without any changes in windows.

no no i installed the fonts for WoW so i can see the characters, but in order to write them i need to change something in the language and regional settings blah blah blah, and it requires and a disk (which i dont have)

You need to change your language settings in Windows and for this you need the windows cd if you didn't install east asian language pack and chinese fonts in the beginning.

So, I guess your dog bited your original windows cd, but u are still a proud owner of a original key.

So don't feel shame and go to your local software dealer in Beijing where you should get also an english copy for 10RMB, or use the wellknown sources in the net.
