| | | Fri 21 Aug 2009 - 22:57 # | Too bad we still don't have WOTFLK... Though the Guild talent trees will be really useful to get all the foreigners together. Now I wanna Goblin Hunter... Their mounts are AWESOME! Worgens, wolvar, whatevz... are cool, but not cool enough to get me to roll alliance... Ok, maybe a little... Oh, and... New water animation! Yeah baby!

Will there be any updates to the graphics and changes to the minimum system requirements?
Yes, there will be incremental tweaks and updates to the graphics engine in this expansion. For example, we’ve made improvements to the way that water is rendered. We’ll announce the exact system requirements closer to the expansion’s release.
Which classic zones have been overhauled? What are some examples of changes?
Nearly all of the game’s original zones are being altered to some degree, but the extent of the changes varies by zone. For example, Darkshore is flooded and has been completely redesigned with all new quest hubs. The Barrens have been split in two; one half is for low-level players and the other is for higher-level players. Azshara is now a low-level zone for Horde players and connects directly to Orgrimmar.
Is another Hero class being added to the game?
We are not planning to add a new Hero class in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. For this expansion, it was more appropriate to focus on the two new races, the goblins and worgen. We never intended to include a Hero class in every expansion. As you saw with death knights, adding a new class changes the dynamics of the game dramatically, which is not something we want to do in every expansion. We still have plans to introduce new Hero classes in the future.
Will the two new races have all-new starting experiences?
Yes, we are creating all-new level 1 to 15 starting zones for both races. Players will start their adventures with the worgen in Gilneas, which was sealed off behind the Greymane Wall. Goblin players will start on the Isle of Kezan and then head to the Lost Isles in the South Seas before joining the mainland. Each starting experience will be presented in a fashion similar to the death knight starting area in Wrath of the Lich King, and these starting zones will make extensive use of our new phased-terrain technology.

| | | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 2:27 # | "Their mounts are awesome"
What will they be using as mounts? Ogres? Racetrack speedracers? Mechanical Shredders?
| | Gast Guest | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 2:39 # | Bloody hell,
I saw the trailer now 10 times and still cannot close my mouth. That Addon will be amazing. But as a player from the beginning on, I wish that this world disaster will be made with phasing technology. When i think about that i cannot go with my lvl15 char to deathmines anymore... But I will also like it, to come back with my lvl85 char and play deathmines in heromode. Anyway, I'm looking forward to enjoy that unique worldevent on the european servers. I will be bigger then the AQ event a few years before.
OK, now let's start china bashing. Rest of the world start planning the 3rd Addon and we here still need to play iwth the stone aged 1st addon, because Blizzard or 163 is not able to buy this bloody asshole boss from this government office a nice Porsche Chayenne or 7 virgins. I mean, this is like everything works here, or not?
For Cataclysm (what a difficult word for a non english mothertonque) it will be also not easy to implement it here in China. If I am this bloody asshole boss from this bloody stupid government regulation bureau, I will tell Blizzard: "Sorry guys, but this addon is not according our stupid harmony regulation. There are to much vulcanos and earthquakes and our country has a national trauma with earthquakes. So please change the vulcanos and implement stupid "Wo ei Ni" singers and buy me a Porsche Chayenne and weekly 7 virgins, or your Addon will never start in this Country" That's exactly the words what I would use, if I am this bloody motherfucker in Beijing.
So, words are spoken, now I feel better.
| | | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 5:52 # | After such comment I bet the govt of China will block this site either. Just like Facebook,Youtube etc... xD | | |
| | | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 6:21 # | Looks promising, worgens looks cool. Hope they will release WOTFLK before Cataclysm. | | |
| | | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 6:33 # | did u see in the middle of the trailer a Troll Druid? Oo | | |
| | | Sat 22 Aug 2009 - 10:18 # | why do you guys call it WOTFLK?
like, wrath of the effing lich king or something?
anyway, this looks like some seriously cool beans. too bad its not gonna make it to china in the next two years.

| | | Sun 23 Aug 2009 - 8:16 # | OMG
I think i have to play my Europe version again to be prepared for the add-on. with the delay of WOTLK i guess Cataclysm will come only years later in china. It looks pretty cool with the new class and the new zones, specially the classic Hero instances cant wait to see Dead mines in Hero mode........ reminds me when i started WOW.

| | | Sun 23 Aug 2009 - 10:23 # | As it seems they won't change outland and northrend too much in Cataclysm I wouldn't be surprised if cataclysm come a few months after wotflk in China. Worse case It'll make us skip a few tiers | | |
| | | Sun 23 Aug 2009 - 19:48 # | Sorry to ruin everything guys but... The expansion still IS in development, and I say we won't see it in about 6 months at the least!
Oh and uru, please cut off all those screens please? Takes up lots of space for lots of useless stuff... And compile it in one post so we don't need to see your 7 line signature 5 times in a row.
| | | Sun 23 Aug 2009 - 20:14 # | Breaking news?
One small bit of rumor has been floating around the BlizzCon floor the last couple days: that World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be released in 2010. We hear these kind of rumors all the time, and don't give them very much credence. Whatever date is up on Game Stop (November 1st, 2010) or Amazon or wherever are just placeholder dates until they start to change or we hear from trusted sources that the dates are correct.
But this time, things are a little bit different.
WoW.com has been able to confirm that during a DirecTV interview, Mike Morhaime, CEO of Blizzard, revealed that Cataclysm is targeted for a 2010 release date.
Now a targeted release date should be clearly understood for what it is. It is a date that Blizzard wants to ship their game, nothing more, nothing less. It means that they have a plan and schedule to get the game ready by then. But as everyone knows, long term schedules can and do change. Please limit the QQ if we don't see Cataclysm next year.
Interesting news nonetheless!

| | | Mon 24 Aug 2009 - 18:21 # | this all looks super cool.
but does any else find the new race/class combinations lame? Night elf mages, and tauren pallys are just not meant to be. i mean they were all like "the power of nature" and what not, and suddenly they just branch out and become all magic-y. if you get what i mean. its gonna be lame. gnome priests i guess i could deal with, but i find it all pretty stupid, myself.
also, doesnt the whole goblins joining the horde totally eff up all of the lore and crap? not to mention all of the Steamwheedle Cartel cities will become horde-controlled, and any alliance player that spent the time to get their rep up just got bombed.
meh.
the whole revamped kalimdor and eastern kingdoms is damn cool though.
| | | Mon 24 Aug 2009 - 18:31 # | i love the idea of LM getting ganked in booty bay by horde guards... altho i guess it'll mean we wont be able to get teh bloodsaild admiral title 0.o | | |
| | | Mon 24 Aug 2009 - 18:50 # | Dude... Blizzard isn't stupid, alliance aren't either. Get into the lore and read about the goblins, and watch the trailer too, you'll get that we aren't allying ourselves with all the goblins but one faction of them. | | |
| | | Mon 24 Aug 2009 - 21:32 # | I expect a lot from this extension. I can't wait to see how the remodeled Kalimdor and Azeroth will be.
But for now let's wait for WOLK right ?
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 5:47 # | Uber I share your thoughts, I find Tauren pally doesn't fit really well. I have to confess that Tauren was my favrouite race, for the lore, they sniff weed, and are peacefull, but I find gear looks like shit on them(head not on the shoulders), run speed feels slow, and in BGs they are just too gigantic. In the other hand I find the new troll druid combo looks cool, I might change my female tauren druid into a rasta druid ye man. | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 8:38 # | i'd like to put in my few cents here.
cataclysm's release date is 2010? is that US and EU? it won't be released in China until mid 2011 i'd presume. it's taken the Chinese government nearly a year and a half now to even consider WoTLK, and yet here we are still waiting for WoTLK while new content is being developed. even SO, if cataclysm IS meant to be released in 2010, it will most certainly be postponed due to marketing arrangements because Blizzard is currently working on other titles such as Diablo 3 (which i can almost guarantee China won't be releasing), and Starcraft 2. Blizzard also has a history of last minute postponed games. i remember LoD was laid off for an additional 6 months, hell even TBC was laid off for another 7 months before it's predicted release date. so, all in all, the cataclysm release sounds great and all... i just wouldn't get a stiffy over it if i were you; because more than likely we won't get a taste of the action (if you still live in China) when it's released.
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 9:22 # | Ye, but Wotlk had lots of troubles because of all the undead, look at cataclysm, None! So that makes me happy. And 2010 is a year, They got enough time to release a new expansion, and SCII... | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 9:24 # | Agreed with Fluberwinter on this. But then, the Chinese Government probably won't like the idea of earthquakes. | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 10:13 # | Do not get to happy, u know blizzard has no contract with Netease to release Cat. It only has contract for WoTLK.
You not see Cat for 2 years after the release. it be barginning chip in next contract discussions in 2 years.
Thats how blizzard works with a chinese company wanting more money
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 11:04 # | Lol bol, they do sniff weed. I love tauren!
but yeah im definitely not expecting this to come out anytime soon, at least until 2012. i think the government would think: oh, this new expansion has the whole world totally destroyed, and we dont want any of our citizens getting any ideas about destroying the world, so we cant release this game.
bullshit, i say. | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 18:08 # | But wait, I thought Blizzard didn't even have a licence to sell their services in China, that's why it's free right now! | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 19:13 # | | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 19:14 # | Plus I should be back in France in a year, no more troubles for meLOL | | |
| | | Tue 25 Aug 2009 - 20:38 # | No, it's beta because Blizzard and Netease can't sell their MMO in China yet. | | |
