Hi guys!

As i know some of you are parents i have a short question?
As most might know my son is born in china (parents Chinese+German).
He already got his German Passport but now i need a Visa due to the fact he is a german passport holder.

As a fact the entry and exit bureau tells me i can get a exit permit (valid 3 month) and go back to germany to apply there for a tourist visa and come back to china, afterwards he will receive the same Visa as me including residence permit.

Which makes no sense for me!!!! Why not directly give him the Visa here....why travel back once????

So questions as below:
-according to Konsulat Shanghai he has 30 days to apply for a Visa which is impossible!! Does it matter if i do the thing as above explained in 1 Year later or Goverment will punish?
-Is there a way around to make it easy without going back to Germany?
-Is there a timeframe to apply for Visa or are kids born in china bound to mothers law (Chinese) even with German Passport to stay here and only need exit permit to go to other Countries?
-Do you have applied for a visa for ur Kid and how did u do it?

I really appreciate your info or comments even its experience from friends!!!

From what I know your baby will need a tourist visa (valid for 3 months) that you need to make in his national country. Then you can make this visa longer in China.
So I do think that you should go back to Germany get a 3 months visa, then come back to China and apply for a permanent visa and residence permit.


But honestly, you should check the expats forums and all that kinda stuff.
Most of people on this forum are kids (just like me) or are not concerned by children.

Go to HK for the Touristic Visa, needless to go back to Germany.

I guess there are many experienced expats, and probably some Germans married to Chinese, who have had kids born in Shanghai or China and use this forum. Even though you don't live in Shanghai, the procedure should be the same. If you cant find an answer, simply register and you will get your answers to your questions.

THX for the feedback. Its the case i have no other chance then going back to Europe to get the tourist Visa first. Getting the Visa is not the problem its more the matter of getting the exit and entry stamps into the passport

Unfortunatly Hong Kong is not possible and also just sending by post is not accepted, freaking chinese rules.

But he still counts as Chinese so far there is no time frame and therfore no hurry.

@Muhan Yeah i have been to plenty Expat pages incl. Shanghai Expat but unfortunately there is no real details beside discussions.

If i would life in Shanghai i could get the Visa there without exit and entry the Country but thats China, each province has its own rulez:)
