I'm using netpas, which is fairly easy to setup and gives stable pings. Even on friday nights I get sub 200, sometimes below 100.

Streaming content lags the VPN, I've yet to see one aimed at gaming that allows it in China or back in my home in Canada.

i just installed the netpas software and am using the free trial to test the pings (currently saturday afternoon 5pm. With it running, my ping is 350-500 in Orgrimar.

People are saying they are getting sub 200 pings on friday nights, what am i doing wrong?

Perhaps my server (戰歌） ? Im not sure i want to pay for this if i cant get green pings... Any ideas what i might be running into? Or suggestions on other VPN's that will get me green pings?

(edit) im not using any VPN at the moment and getting 400-500... perhaps i need to do something to my network settings? Using Windows 7 with China telecoms standard 2MBdown/512k up connection. I am directly connected to my wireless router while my gf is on the wireless.

I have the same trouble.
I am using 27net at the moment.
And depending which proxy i chose through the soft, i can usually always get some sub-200 ping. but its a pain (only sometimes) to have to switch proxies and find the right one, on thoes heavy traffic evenings, before starting to really play.

netpass though, I tried trial, and i am 500ish.
So, I don't know how people get sub-100.
I DO get sub-100 with 27net also.

Seeing how routing tables change all the time in china, all this proxy stuff is a bit non-stable.
As long as you get sub 300 you are fine anyway.

netpass is a bit more expensive than 27net (100 rmb for abt 5 1/2 months). but if it is TRULY that stable at ALL times, then fine.
i want it tested by someone in 25-man instances, some random 5man and BG as well as cities on peak hours/days.
thats where you see the difference.

Did you buy the normal service or the VIP? Think that would make any difference?

might be their strat to get you into VIP.

on the other hand, as i said, routing tables change periodically in china, hence, you can never ever know.

When playing in bgs and 10-25man instances with these vpn is the ping good? Personnaly I don't care about the lag in cities, but would sucks to be over 300ms when you are willing to instant gib stuff.

Dungeons are fine most of time except Nexus on my side, I dunno why.

To be honest, the worst is bg cause they are unplayable for me without VPN. Warsong and arathi are fine, but concerning WOTLK BG, I must get there on the morning.

Same for Dalaran, get disconnected endless when I'm up there.

PS, I'm talking about Menethil server.

menethil is 200+ while stormscale is 300+

at 300+ i'd rather not tank or heal :p

i ICC 10/25, HToC 10/25 heal with up to 600 ping.
I 2v2 arena with up to 600 ping.

what i could discover:
the ping the game sais i have, isn't accurate.
At times it tells me i am red 1000, but my game is responsive as sub 200. And it IS sub 200. it must have something to do with the proxy connection and what not. or maybe its an average of something. i am not sure and working on that one.

but what i can say, is do NOT trust the game's ping number more than 70%. i did ICC 10 last night, and it showed 1200. I cast a shield, and it was instantly on target. no delay at all. that means, no lag.

judge by the game responsiveness.
