I found out a way how to play dota allstars here in China so for all those that are interrested please check my mini guide below!

1. Getting everything you need!

1. Warcraft III patched 1.24.1.6374
Sidenote: Doesnt need to be a legal one but has to be patched to that version not the current one.
Sidenote: Click Here! for The official blizzard patch site for warcraft III
2.The Font file same one as you use for World of Warcraft.
3. The latest version of dota which can be found Here!
4. The CGA Launcher which you can download Here!
This program will be the launcher

2. Here We go !

1. Install warcraft III
sidenote: nothing fancy just like you normally would do

2. Install the manual patches and patch warcraft III untill version1.24.1.6374

3. Extract the Font file in your Warcraft III folder
Sidenote: Just like you did with WoW

4. Inside your Warcraft III directory go to maps and create a new folder called Download.
sidenote: if you already played warcraft III online the folder should already be there

5. Copy the latest version of the Dota map into your download folder.

6. Install the launcher file
Just use your common sense for this one everything is just next next next.

7. Start up Warcraft III not using the launcher file go to options > Gameplay and then set the Chat support for Chinese Simplified
So you can see the chinese characters

How to create your account

Go to This! Website and fill in the form as of below !

1.输入帐号：Username
2.输入密码：Password
3.确认密码：Repeat password
4.验 证 码：Code to the right side
5.电子邮件：E-Mail
6.性别：Male or Fermale
7.Leave the first checkbox open
Sidenote: this is if you like to give them additional information
8.Check the second checkbox
This is the user agreement

Congrats you just created your account !

How to play

1. Launch the launcher file.
Sidenote: the one named gameclient.exe

2. Fill in your Username and Password and click the big blue button.
Sidnote: check the box to the left if you want the program to remember it

3. on the left side you see multiple "tabs" click the second.
sidenote: it looks like a black version of the Counterstrike icon

4. A menu opened with a list of channels click the 4th box which says Dota Allstars
Sidenote: Or if you would like to try another game as you can see there are a lot

5. Another list popped down these are the different servers for different area's
At the moment im playing in server 3 "广东" Guangdong
First server for Beijing, the Second server for Shanghai

6. A list opened with different channels these are all "VLAN's
sidenote: Pick any vlan you like the second tab shows the amount of users inside and the third tab shows your ping to the vlan.

7. Now you've entered the vlan your inside a chatroom to launch the game press the big blue button next to your "chat" editbox.
If you like you can also arrange a game with people in the chatroom

8. If your game is launched go to "Local area network" and wait for a game to pop up, double click it to enter and your there !
sidenote: If you cant see any games it means there are none created, the list auto refreshes so you just have to wait or join another vlan.

Congrats you are now able to play Dota.


At the moment i Still have a problem to display the map info properly ( the tooltips for items and heroes ) still working on a solution. it seems you need a Chinese version of Warcraft III not the english one.. As soon as I have a fix ill add it to the guide

Only the greatest game on the planet. (except CWoW of course)
The only way to describe it is in the form of a quote by Stixx while ingame
"Its like WoW but instead of being played over a lifetime its played over 60 minutes"

Dota is a mini game in Warcraft III

I know that sounds a bit boring but it isnt Dota became really popular in a very short time ( i dare say maybe even more popular then the original game itself ). there was this swedish dj who made a song about it called basshunter about 8 years ago???

The concept is simple

DotA is set up as an epic, ten player battle that takes place over the course of about an hour-long game. There are ten players at a time, split into two teams of five. Each player takes control of one hero, and the teams fight it out across the battlefield with the help of computer controlled units and structures until one side destroys their opponents' Ancient. The Ancients are heavily defended structures situated in the middle of each base.

The map is divided into 3 lanes where in each lane on each side creeps will spawn in the beginning of the game its essentials to kill the creeps for Experience to make your hero become stronger the maximum lvl is 25. also when killing creeps or enemy heroes you earn gold which you can use at the shops in your base to purchase items.

There are over 60 heroes with unique skill sets so in the beginning ti will be very hard since you have no knowledge of what heroes can or cant do.

If you're a fan of exciting, team-based multiplayer games, you'll find it a lot of fun.


Also the game client supports a lot of other games next to dota which can be played on the vpn including some awesome fps and rts games.

You probably seen the game before since you can walk into almost any internet cafe here in china and people are playing it

I just found out that if you download the original map from www.getdota.com and place it over the chinese version that the program downloads, then everything will be displayed correctly in English.
