This guide is only relevant for people using a non-chinese client WOW 3.1.3 version

Hello guys, good news I've found a new way to use the 3digit matrix card with non-chinese clients.

So it consist of a new patch-enCN-4.MPQ file made of data coming from the 3.2.2 enUS version. So it's really clean, and at least we know where it comes from.

Why do you need to do this : 3.1.3 non-chinese clients still use the old matrix format with 2 digits codes. The new cards have 3 digits, Chinese 3.1.3 and the rest of the world 3.2 use the new 3 digits version, that's why you'll need to use this patch if you want to secure your account.

1. Download http://www.filefront.com/15027551/patch-enCN-4.MPQ

2. copy it into your wow/data/enCN folder

Important : We have discovered a compatibility bug when trying to create a new Character. If you use this file you won't be able to create Male characters. This is because it use the 3.2.2 login files on the 3.1.3 client.

As a workaround you can either :

-Create a female char
-Create the character on the chinese client first.
-Disable temporary the matrix code( https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/general-f1/remove-security-matrix-t1207.htm?highlight=matrix ) and delete the patch-enCN-4.MPQ to create your male char
-Try the old matrix upload https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/general-f1/solved-3-digits-matrix-card-using-us-other-client-t1269.htm#11690

What will happen when I'll put it on the folder?

Where can I get a Matrix model?

The matrix are on the back of the official Netease wow cards. It's the big scratching grid.

To activate the security :

1. log into your www.battlnet.com.cn account

2. click 修改安全选项

3. Click the icon who looks like a gamecard

4. in the 1st field enter the 15 digits number who is on the back of your card, the one who is just over the grid in the left.
then enter the 3 combinations of numbers found on your matrix.

5. click the big button. GG done.

6. do not ever lose the card

Now when you log into the game after entering your login and pass, you'll be asked to input a combination of numbers found on your matrix. This prevent hackers to access your account.

You'll also need to input numbers when you try to login into your battlenet.com.cn account, or when doing operations like password change etc.

With this your account is 100% secure

Yeah Niki, actually up to today I wasn't using the matrix security caus I didn't know if the solution we had previously was really safe. I'm always very suspicious with stuff found on forums.

Now these last days Netease has made a lot of recommandations via the official website or into our battlenet account, asking us to secure our accounts as soon as possible.

So luckily this morning after a few hours of testing I found a new working solution. Was lucky I updated an english client to play on wow Taiwan last week, caus the solution was there

As I'm using a French client, should I change patch-enCN-3.MPQ into patch-frCN-3.MPQ ?

No it s not the chinese files who need to be renamed into french files it's the inverse. All your file-frFR.mpq must be renamed into file-cnCN.mpq.

Be sure to backup your original frFR because you'll need it back to normal when a new patch is available in China

I'm using a non-english client and this file works.

Stixx should edit his guide and put this one instead of the former one.

Concerning this MATRIX solution.

Since I did it everytime that I launch WOW I hear a "beep".

Is that normal?

Nous that's strange. I had the bip with the old download at https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/general-f1/solved-3-digits-matrix-card-using-us-other-client-t1269.htm#11690 but with the last one I don't have the sound anymore.

Hi, can I ask: What happens if you DO lose your matrix card after activating the system? Does anyone know the procedure for getting your account back?

(I'm not yet in this position, but am hesitant to activate the matrix system as I speak very little Chinese)

This still works for 3.3.5?

Don't need to do this for 3.3.5 if you used Bolomas' batch to modify your client. Should be included in there.
