I didn't until I moved to a new apartment and without realizing a difference b/w them, changed companies. Going from a nice 60-100ms to a now whopping 10,000-30,000ms I realize my mistake.
Alterac Mountains on CN1 is Telecom territory and is where everybody has gathered. To now play elsewhere seems a bit depriving. Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there any way to fix it? I've tried a few things, ie. leatrix, 27net proxy but nothing worked well enough to make the game playable.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My old server on CN2 is back to around 30ms which was ridiculously high before. Really strange. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I've already paid a year's worth of internet here and i'm sure they won't refund the money. My gf suggested maybe get a Telecom connection here as well so then we'd have 2 lines. How much money do i have to sink into this frigg'n game??
| | | Fri 12 Aug 2011 - 2:10 # | I suggest u try to google dsl speedtest china. There is a good page to test ur Internet speed to diffrent locations, in addition it gives u a feedback if ur provider is poor or good to that specific location. | | |

| | | Tue 16 Aug 2011 - 6:37 # | It's not just world of warcraft servers that are specially made for specific networks. If you ever download something from a Chinese site, then you always seem to need to choose either China Telecom or Unicom as your download provider.
For some reason, China's Internet seems to be split into two separate entities which seem to connect at speeds similar to what you'd get trying to access a site in a far off location like Paraguay.
I think its a big conspiracy by the provider and the proxy sites (which are probably owned by relatives of the bosses of Telecom and Unicom). :-)

| | | Tue 16 Aug 2011 - 9:42 # | I say we start our own! And get insta-gibbed by both of them. | | |

I got my problem solved by using the 27net proxy. Ran into a few problems with it opening the encnlauncer but realized after an hour or so of frustration that i needed it set as administrator.
I am contemplating now to get two internet lines into this apartment, one unicom(which i've already paid a year's worth of internet) and telecom. I'm not the only one here who uses the internet so it might be worth it. It's gonna cost around ~300Rmb/year for the proxy or 5-600 for the extra internet line. With two internet lines I won't have to worry about lagging out in a raid while my gf downloads a movie.
| | | Thu 18 Aug 2011 - 15:16 # | oh you could kick your gf out or find new gf who just watch tv on the tube not a computer. | | |

I'll stick with the internet.
| | | Fri 19 Aug 2011 - 7:35 # | If you can access your router settings you can set different download/upload debits for specific ip addresses within your network. But you need to setup static ip for your computers and hers first.
try googling "static ip for windows" if you wanna give it a shot.
| | | Wed 24 Aug 2011 - 13:25 # | This how it works in internet in china. Telecom own most the internet in the south of china 21 southern providence, And unicom own most of nothern part of china at 11 providences. China Netcom and Unicom internet is same company the merged together in 2008. | | |
