WoW CN Cataclysm : starter kit

You'll find in this thread a compendium of all the things you need to be up and running on China mainland Cataclysm server.

if you wish to play with the chinese client :

1. get the chinese client :

- Here are the links for the streaming downloader server 1, server 2, server 3

- Just let it install itself, stream itself and you are good to go

- When you start to play for the first time don't forget to change the language to chinese with english speeches. To do so start with the launcher and select 设置->游戏设置 then change the dropbox at the bottom to 简单中文（英文语音）。An alternat method would be to open WTF/config.wtf with notpad and change SET locale "zhCN" into SET locale "enCN"

2. get the essential addons (check for updates) :

- Locale Override : This addon will turn all your other addons from chinese to english (we will add support for other languages later) Special thanks to Dridzt from curse forge for writing it for us.

- Delocalizator : this addon will translate some elements of the interface in english. (can be completed even more!)

- LightHeaded : This quest addon will provide you with the english quest log, informations and comments on wowhead. Special thanks to Cladhaire who modified his addon just for us. type "/lh config" to open the menu and turn on the english quest log.

- MobMap : Another quest addon to use in pair with Lighthead, for when Lighthead doesn't have any infos to show (it happens for very simple quests).

- More addon to come as we discover new solutions.

3. Come be part of the big expatriate gathering on Alterac

Now is the time to be part of this unique gathering we started a few weeks before the catalcysm release. A BIG expatriate guild, we are all in the same situation of not having a client we fully understand, we WILL help eachother by playing with eachother. There's tons to do together, now is the chance, check this thread.

Could you show me a screenshoot? I feel it only change the fonts but doesnt translate anything

Not sure thought it did as you said on anothre topic.

Dont forget to add in the kit to change the voices /speech to english in the settings see below.

This is Awesome guys... the chinese version might end up nearly 100% English by the time you guys are done tooling with it... necessity is a wonderful thing... or addiction is terribly bad hahaha

Ok so buying a copy disc froma local shop was a rip... they put the installers on 3 discs and sold it for 20rmb for 2 sets... still waiting on my streamer unless i can get a full version from someones hard drive.

so... who lives in or near GZ? or knows how to get a FULL game version on a disc... Xin Hua book store may or may not have full versions...

help?

my streamer is still 11GB to go... and it has been 48 hours

I wonder if you can use the Taiwan version to get the CD. And so far, even if you do get the Chinese version installed that doesn't guarantee game play. I've been staring at the loading screen since 9pm and haven't been able to play at all. Earlier in the day I was able to get on pretty quickly but I was only doing it during lunch so I couldn't even play really- I just turned in all my old quests that I finished in the 2 days before Cata.

It might be easier on another realm but who knows...we're on CN2.

This is kind of off-topic -

I've noticed (after) the installation of the CN WOW 4.1 is completed - and since i couldn't choose a folder or location - it went directly into my WOW EN folder.
Has this happened to anyone else also?

Tae what you need to do is rename your english wow folder then you go in windows control panel and uninstall the program, when it asks if you want to delete the content inside the folder answer no. Then you'll be able choose a new folder for the chinese wow.

But the contents have already been mixed (both my previous 3.5 EN version and the 4.1 CN Version) - WIll it automatically move the downloaded CN files to the folder i specify?

Note: Mine asked me for my server, then randomly asked me to create a new char. had to exit and change realms to find my account chars. with only chinese writing on screen it is all from memory. took a few tries.

New Question: If i have minimum DL, and i copy those folders to a HD and put it on another comp... if the other comp launches will it be at the same point? and be able to enter the game ...?

yeah, but i'd wait for it to download more, I tried to enter right when it reached the available state and got stuck on loading screen. And internet connection seemed to stream nothing. Better let it longer.

GOT IN! copied to Mals, she is trying now,, no english, havent tried installs

Thanks tech guys. Was able to log in the game. However, the spells are in Chinese, one major problem here is that macros will be difficult to set up..

By the way, does anyone know how to remove the buff/aura icons in the middle of the screen?

Delete your old addons and only use the ones above first. The makro menu is fully in English after you modify the client as described!

for the macros you just shift click the spell in the spell book and it will copy the chinese name. But you have to disable delocalizator to do this.

FoA: Thanks for the fix & everyone who worked on it.

I log in the server using the Chinese Client when CTM(CN) is on.
I summoned the Water Elemental and it named "水元素"
When AK-48 post a fix, I log in with my US Client the days after.
But the name of my water elemental is still "水元素".
How can I Change it to "Water Elemental"

Does any one know how to solve it?

You can't change it because your pet was created on a Chinese client (just like if you made it on an English client and then went to play on a Chinese client, the name would forever be Water Elemental), because that is how it was registered permanently on the servers.

Well, yes. You have to download the ENG one. The tutorial about the chinese one is way outdated.

Yeah this thread is misleading, sorry for that. It's only here for those willing to use the Chinese client.
