What do you think about the SOPA bill that's about to be passed? Its goal is to basically censore pretty much any site that displays 'stuff' that does not 'belong' to it. Meaning that sites like Wikipedia, Tumblr, Twitter will all be censored and taken down if the bill passed.

You guys have to read through the lines if it comes to the USA it will affect the whole world indirect as the biggest part of the Inet is located in the USA. In addition most European laws follow the USA related to the Inet. As far as i understand it if these changes will be implemented we will feel a major diffrence in the daily dosage of Inet.

Ya it could be world wide,, US was already flexing its muscle over TVshack.com Judge in the UK said he should be extradited for Sharing protected Intellectual property... he was only the redirection site,, not the streamer...

Sopa would give the power to the US Attorney General to decide what sites can and should be blacked out all over the world... he would just have to contact the service/server provider and have you shut down for abusing intellectual property... Scary stuff

Dunno why but I really don't feel worried about it as a consumer. Those websites will either move in other countries who don't give a shit about US laws. Or non US products will start to raise.

That sure sucks for the companies themselves since they will lose their income if they keep their activities on US territory.

But lets face it, how long since they started to close torrent sites and other streaming? Close one, ten new open. You can't fight it.

Maybe the day the industry stop being a greedy ***** , more people will start paying for their products.

But you guys still dont get it, any western country with extradition can be compelled by the US to comply. Any company that has any link to america through any revenue could and can be shut down.

Agreed. If SOPA were to pass, sites like Wowpedia, Wowhead, Elitist Jerk would all be shut down. And we'd have to go on the official WoW forums to look for info

But on another serious note, politicians have no idea what they are talking about (80% of the time).

Looks like the bill has been postponed for now. Otherwise, Megaupload was shut down.

US politicians are morons. Long since they stopped doing anything to help business and just listen to who writes the biggest check.
