I recently bought a CN account for WoW. But I found a problem about the clients. The CN clients only support Windows but I need to play on Mac. Also, I can read english. Perhaps we can change something in realmlist.wtf? No BootCamp

Thanks.

Hello, and welcome to the community. Unfortunately, as of now there is no workable fix for mac. Our fix includes files from the chinese version of WoW, but in China, only the .exe client is available. Changing the realmlist.wtf won't affect whether you can play the game on Windows or Mac; it only changes the location of the servers you play on.

You can use Wine to play WoW, but since our game has a modified client, I suggest you get bootcamp instead.

Here's how our modified client works:

Since none us wanted to play in Chinese, we got a fix. The fix basically involves us mixing Chinese client files with the english client for example. In short, there is not possible way. Even if you try to modify the US client for macs, it won't work because the files needed (to play on Mainland Chinese servers) are all for Windows.

Wine's basically a mac workaround to activate .exe on Mac OS X. I've tried it and it works with an un-modified client. I'm not too sure about the client we use, as it's heavily modified. I still suggest Bootcamp.

If you still want to try Wine, here's a short summary.

Believe me, I've got a Mac laptop myself. I've tried and looked for different ways, but ended up using bootcamp.

I've used wine in the past to play on linux, it works fine but you'll need a performant computer to compensate the emulation. By using bootcamp the fps will be better.

Aye. After all, the client will perform better overall on its native OS: Windows.

I think you better check on wines website, they have some explanations on how to install the most popular programs.

Also if you encounter a problem you need to be a lot more specific if you wish a helpful answer.

And finaly I see some chinese in the message, you won't need the chinese client at first all the needed files are provided in the guide https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/t2226-cataclysm-42214769-fix-latest-update#20720

there are too many holes to jump through to play on mac. If you have good enough spec try using bootcamp.

Or even just try to install windwos on it and dual boot

hello t1t2t1t2 .
I'm sorry to tell you that Chinese wow client does not support Mac logging on directly. But some tools that can imitate out a virtual Windows environment may help you.just like WINE that mentioned above.

Some program which only run on windows platform has difficulty running on Mac
os OR linux.I recommend you to grab a WINE for mac.

You may find a solution in this link:http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/wine-mac/

Some part will involve command use,but it well goes easy if you follow the instruction.

New patch - new possibilities?
As we don't need to modify files anymore to play on chinese servers, maybe it could be possible to finally get the Mac version running.
I already tried with my german version, starting the "World of Warcraft.app", but it will download a chinese patch ingame. Also deleting the original Launcher doesn't help, you can't log in then.
What we need is a chinese Launcher.app (which is not existing atm) or a modification of our existing Launcher. Does somebody has an idea, how the program finds out the region in the Launcher.app?

UPDATE: Going mad!! I can play Wow on chinese server with my german Mac version! It works! WoW CN on mac? Bounce

1. Use your foreign client (v 4.3.2).
2. Change realmlist, as described here in 1st post under point 3.
3. Backup the original Launcher.app, you will need it for updates in future!
4. Start the game with "World of Warcraft.app", login to your account and follow the instruction for update.
5. A small patch will be downloaded and after the update you have a chinese Launcher.app!
6. Start the game by running "World of Warcraft.app" & enjoy playing...
If you forgot the backup of your foreign launcher, just move the chinese launcher to another folder and restore the original one by running the repair app.
