kingdoms of amalur, wowlaowai's review--
first person rpg not unlike skyrim, with a decidedly WoW feeling to it, also has elements of many other popular rpgs (fable). KoA has nothing new, but it presents everything old in a good mix and an enjoyable style.
KoA features is a classless system, with 3 skill trees, Sorcery, Might and Finesse, this allows you to make pure magician, warrior or thief, i play a hybrid adventurer with points in all 3 trees. Unlimited respecs is are also available for in-game money.
I find this game quite addictive, more so than Skyrim. The graphics are "not as good" but the result is much better combat, better armor sets and more interesting weapons. (IE, i'm skilled in greatswords, wands and bows, and something called fea-blades which would immediately remind any WoW player of Illidan's weapons) Just through random playing without a guide. (I actually got some epic version of these weapons in a quest not long after starting the game) Yes the gear is purple, blue, green and white.. lol.
The game also features a point-buy tradeskill system that is fairly well made, I'm specialized in alchemy (which includes herbalism) because I can make potions for free from things I find. Also I specced detect-hidden because it lets me spot extra chests / gold / monsters and doors.
The game has several (4-6) weapon types for each skill branch, and something like 22 abilities with various ranks in each branch. I'm sitting about 15 points in each tree because I wanna check out the gameplay fully, and like I said it's quite enjoyable. If you like the idea of a single player WoW, with improved combat (like Skyrim type) you will like KoA.
Here is a picture of my 3rd of 4th character, who is of a group of races that seems very similiar to night-elf. She is wielding level 3 epic "Fae" blades. (Daggers and blades are equipped as a set).
