New in China, can I still play using EU client here?

I have been reading the forum guide on how to setup your client to run on Chinese realms (I use euGB client). I changed the config.wtf and launcher.db files. However, it doesn't seem like this has had any effect. Perhaps it is because I use the wrong patch, but I dont know how to find out what is the current patch in China and how to change patch. I noticed your guide is written a while ago. Is it still possible at all to use this method?

My client is setup to use patch 5.4.7.18019

It doesnt seem like I am able to change patch to a previous version :s

Hi Dahl,

The method still works, and the only actual change that is fully necessary is to change the SET portal line in config.wtf. However, most people have better luck with the US version as the eu version seems to patch at a slightly different time to the Chinese version (sometimes earlier, sometimes later).

Best option is to just change the SET portal line and run the game directly with wow.exe (or 64-bit version).
