If you play WoW using the Chinese client, you can now download patch 2.1.0 via BT here as of last night (6/19 midnight):

The first 2 part download is expansion only - the 2nd 3 part download is full client & expansion. Personally it's my choice to use Chinese client to make my WoW experience benefit my language learning

As far as I understand, the upgrade will go into effect soon (people speculate next patch, 1 week from today) however will be client side, and it is straight to 2.1.0 (the torrent references the version release) which includes Black Temple and is only 1 step behind minor US patch 2.1.1 with some small bug fixes. The server will still not support TBC/new content/level patch/zones, however will include:

* Relevant bug fixes
* PVP token system (revamp from old rank system) however want to save coins til level 70 items/level available
* New talent/talent trees incl. 41-pt talents

From history of patch releases generally it's made available for download the week before actual patch-upgrade, suggesting next week we will be able to re-spec and take advantage of the PVP system. This patch does seem to include everything required in TBC to play (it's the full TBC client) when the servers are finally upgraded.

NOTE: Do not install this client until the server supports the 2.1.0 patch, just since it's so huge, download ahead of time and drop on a DVD in preparation

Or have a second WoW installed, all ready for the change.

That's what I'm doing. (eg: not wasting 30 min installing once i get off work).

Direct to 2.1 means i cant decide on which spec to play

you find ALL patches there for all language version (outside of china)
you have to download the 2.1.0 patch and NOT 2.1.0.6729.

well, depending on which version you are. i had my tbc client already at 2.0.12 . Everybody who had a TBC client and conneced to my server had also that version.

More seriously... If i reinstall a game from scratch and update it to 2.1.0, i will still need to make many complicated langauge shit no ? Isn't it more easy to make it directly from our 1.12.3 ?

no.
my fix has been the easiest out there on this whole bloody forum.
install us version (or french or any, as my font set includes all those ascii character tables), extract my fonts.zip (search forum) into your \yourwarcraftdirectory\Fonts folder, and your game works.
to TYPE in chinese, you have to change one windows setting and reboot (see another one of my posts in this forum)

but because its you, i have it already up, running, and working (version 2.1.0) here. you can even come today and get it on your USB HDD and wait for china release.

to RAOMAINH: ganaat isn't so wrong. we have like 20 different posts, each describing a bit and some describing the same thing. how about in the in the FAQ section you put FAQs and stuff, create ONE thread or one forum with ONE thread (so people find it even easier, or make one DIRECT link on the home page... anything linking directly to ONE post, describing the WHOLE procedure, with permanent links (i can host ALL files needed forever on ym server), with screenshots or even a video (i can do that) and the SIMPLEST way without needing to install additional software and blabla to type / read chinese.
ONE simple post, long or not, describing ALL, from A to Z (instead of 15). maybe one alternate post for people who dont like to change their UTF-8 locale settings in windows.

thats it. lock it. and NEVER EVER accept any more questions about it. any questions receive the link to that place as answer. short and quick. any posts /threads asking for it (people who obviously didn't really lookf or it and ask instead of looking) get an answer post, get locked, stay for 5 days (enough for the guy to come back) and get removed from the forum afterwards, as they clog the forum with redundancy.

as per usual, before, patches were available 1-2 weeks before live, n china. they might go live within the next 2 weeks, my guess is july though or very last bit of june.

Using a website translator, it looks like the patch site says the new version will go live on June 26 (they are making the download available earlier to lessen the load on "storm eve"??).

Right now, my Chinese version 1.12.3 connects fine, but English 2.1.2.6803 gets a version error. So, I will try again on June 26.

Other than setting the realmlist to "cn1.grunt.wowchina.com", I should be able to play straight away. Please reply if anyone has any different info!

OMG guys did the9 finally come through!? i tried to get on this morning and i kept getting the disconnected from server message.. went to wowchina and it appears the servers are down for update.. on a saturday! maybe i misread (my chinese sucks) but i think they actually kept their word on releasing 2.1 on the 22nd...

Apparently they are making it so that we are on the same version as the US server.

We shouldnt be encoutering other evil patches, well until the next extention that is :S

I have version 2.0.0 English version.
I don't want to download full 2.1.2 again for four days.
Is it possible just install 2.0.0 and automaticly let it update ?

BTW I just tried to log in and it gives me note that my WOW is corrupt. So TBC is on i guess

I can now connect with the English 2.1.2 client. Was getting the "corrupt" or wrong version message before. I would definitely download the latest patch, if I were you.

I'm still not able to play with the English version. It only gives me the United States as a location option, and then no realms to choose from. So, I will be interested to hear when anyone else gets this to work.

naa dont think we need a evil path. As i remembered with the evil patch, without the craced .exe i couldn't even connect to the server.

now i can. I get the screen were you normaly select a realm to play on, but it is a blank list. Wich i think simple meens all the realms are offline.

if at 6 the realms go onluine i think they will get overloaded, so i expect to start playing normaly around 20.00

sent, but as i said in my email, you should just use bittorrent to grab the 1 file.

This may seem like a stuid question, but I have 2 copies of the original WoW US version client. One copy is 2.X+ (not sure which, since I uninstalled it a while back) and the other is pre-2.x (so I could install and play in China).

What I'm wondering is I also have the TBC expansion disks... if I install those disks, what version will I be on? Will it be comptible in China?

(for Eu users change the US in the explanation to EU, and follow the steps )

1: Install your US WoW game as normal.

2: Then expand with your normal US BCrusade expansion.

3: Then patch it up to 2.1.2 with US patches. Which means 2.0.0 -> 2.1.0 ( 400+MB ) -> 2.1.0.6729 ( 2MB ) -> 2.1.1.6739 ( 2MB) -> 2.1.2 6803 ( 50MB ). 2.1.2 6803 is the version now running on China servers.
!!! This is not the version running in US/EU so don't update to far. !!! Or you will have to start from scratch.

4: Then change the realm name line in the file called "realmlist" to the server you play on in china. ( open it with notepad ). The line looks like "eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com" ( this is the EU realmlist ) and should be "cn1.grunt.wowchina.com" if you play on the 1st server.
As far as i know you can ignore the line linking to the update server.

5: Now launch the game using the WoW.exe not the Launcher.exe from your wow dir.

This is how it works. No one needs to ask any questions about it anymore.

If you want to read the Chinese fonts. Put the fonts file that nankin posted ( and many others, or look in FAQ ) in the fonts folder in your Wow dir. ( you might have to make it ) mine is C:\WoWChina\Fonts.

If you also want to type Chinese you have to change a windows setting.

First, open the control panel and double click on Regional and Language Options.

From there, a window will open. Go to the SECOND TAB (Languages). And make sure in Supplemental Language Support you have selected both options.
(At this point, if you did not do that during the installation, Windows MAY prompt you to insert the installation CD again. Do it.)

Now, last but not least, go to the THIRD TAB (Advanced) and make sure to chose Chinese PRC (or Taiwan, if you want traditional characters) in the Language for non-Unicode Programs part.
Windows will ask you to reboot.

You are done. You can now SEE and WRITE in chinese in World of Warcraft.

You don't need any cracked .exe files. The Chinese version of the game is going to be updated to the exact version of the US/EU client.
Edit. That means the exact patch number/version of the PATCH
note this doesn't mean the versions played on US/EU and China servers are the same.
This will stay as long as the numbers of china patches are exactly the same of US/EU patchs. ( as was not the case with the "china Evil" patch. this patch did not exist in US/EU ), hens the need for cracks.

If you want to install a second version of WoW you have to rename your original WoW folder. Otherwize the WoW installer will ask you to play or uninstall. ( or it will tell you you already have a version installed ).
Mine is C:\WoWChina.
To install the chinese version of wow i had to rename my Original folder.
C:\WoWChina --> C:\WoWCHina2
Then i installed the 2nd version normaly to C:\WoWChinaChinese.
Now i simply renamed the original folder back to how it was.
C:\WoWChina2 --> C:\WoWChina

If you want to run a patch you have to rename the folder of the game version to the folder name you installed it in first.
So say i want to patch my Chinese Language version of WoW ( the 2nd version i installed ) I need to rename the 2st and the 2nd.
1: C:\WoWChina --> C:\WoWChina2
2: C:\WoWChinaChinese --> C:\WoWChina
3: Update the version ( here its the 2nd version )
4: rename everything back. C:\WoWChina --> C:\WoWChinaChinese and C:\WoWChina2 -- > C:\WoWChina

Edit. could some one check if this is really necessary ? With me it was. And it works like this, but maybe you can remove a step.

now if only the realms would go up.... maybe my forecast of 20.00 was right... well back to my 汉字 exercises.

last thing if you pass by the tracker.worldofwarcraft.com becarfull because in europe they have one more version than us so you must stop at 2.1.2.6803 if no it will not work i think and you must repair or reinstall the game i think.

Can some one check what the current version is on US and EU realms. I can only find 2.1.2 6803 as latest patch.
