In TBC you will must choose between aldor ans scryers :

i hope whit this post you'll have an idea to choose one of them.

i'll try to explain the difference.

firstly you must doing a quest in Shattrat ( capital 0f outland for the two factions ), you will follow an elem in Shattrat he will explain to you why horde and alliance can leave together in the same city.

now you can choose two quest one to begin neutral or friendly for Aldor or scryers. But don't worry you cannot begin any quest before you're lvl 63-64 if i remember.( quest to up your reputation i mean )

everyone know about the two new race in wow, this race can begin friendly whit his respective faction dranei ( Aldor ) and blood elf ( Scryers ), all of the other race begin neutral.

how to choose one of them the most difference is in your profession or type of game, i mean if you like crit/crit spell you must choose scryers if you like +dmg/ap/crit you must choose Aldor.

for exemple i will choose Aldor because of the sword it really depends on your type of game so you must choose carefully, because it's easy to up exalted but after it's very difficult and long to grind some moobs for the other one.

Aldor :

in this faction you can find a set for fire resist in all profession Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and Tailoring.

you can find too 3 patern for Jewelcrafting.

whit a fel armament you'll have a holy dust :

whit this holy dust you can buy an inscription for your shoulder you can see them on "Used to Purchase" on the link click on more to see all of them.

you can see these inscription for your shoulder are whit a lot of +dmg/ap/+heal and dodge (honored) and more +dmg and few critspell, more ap and few crit, more +heal and few mp5, dodge and defence.

scryers :

In this faction you can find a set for resist arcane in Blacksmithing, Leatherworking not for tailoring but normally when you up your tailoring you'll learn ( so whitout reputation ).

but for tailor you can find two very good patern one +25 Dmg and 15 stamina the other one is almost the same.

you can find too 3 patern for Jewelcrafting.

VERY IMPORTANT THINGS when you'll take a quest from "The consortium" read it carefully sometimes the quest up your reputation for them but it down for scryers and Aldor ... so read it very carefully.


last very important point when you will arrive 70 normally you'll have around 1300, 1500 Gold so you can buy easily your fly mount ( the first one i mean 60 % )

wowwiki's synopsis on aldor and scryer is pretty good.
You also have to consider if you raid a lot or not because of the items they offer, if you don't raid then you should look on their enchants... (Aldor if you are PVE and scryer if you are PVP imo)

I decided again it will be aldor.

From a lock point of view it seems to be better both for pve and pvp

Some suggest that individuals who are in raiding guilds and who have access to high-end items may benefit most by choosing the Scryers, while those in a more casual environment may wish to choose the Aldor.
(i checked, and yes, there is a big chunk of truth to this. i plan on raiding, and i think i might take the SCRYERS. besides, honestly, the Aldor staff sucks badly, and the robe isn't worth a look even. Scryers have a good trinket that adds nicely together with NEFARIAN trinket. And the ring is about as good a a NAXX ring. So yes, good choice. The crit enchants do good. trust me. not only in PVP.)

Rogues: [Socrethar's Girdle] is reward from Turning Point, the final quest of a long Scryer chain (and not available from the Aldor). With +23 agi, +21 stam, + 20 hit rating and + 48 attack power, it is significantly better than anything outside of heroic Black Morass or Karazhan for sword and mace Rogues. Take this into consideration, because the Assassination Armor set does not include a belt. However, Sword rogues should notice the [Vindicator's Brand], which can simply be bought at Exalted reputation and is comparable to a [Blinkstrike] for 200g, easily affordable at 70. This sword is also significantly better than any sword outside of raids and Arena rewards.

Here is how I made my choice:

With craftable gear and arena weapon (no better weapon before Black temple). You will not be getting a huge amount of items in FB before T5.

The quest reward ring is junk, I will have rings better than this one is hopefully less than a week. (All quest rewards items are junk, you can get much much better easier and they are therefor not taken into account in choosing which faction.)

So in the end two things matter: The enchant.

Aldor caster enchant:
18 spl dmg
10 spell critical strike rating

Scryer caster enchant:
15 spl dmg
12 spell critical strike rating

So what do you value more 3 spl dmg or 0.09 crit chance? (there is no mistake in the comma).
spell crit normally gets better as you get better gear, but for me even at 1000dmg the 3 spl dmg are twice as beneficial than the 0.09 crit. (even in destro spec who takes great advantage of crit).

If you plan on Being Jewcrafting or tailoring on the long run, However those are not BoP so i dont really think it matters.

Jewcrafting gives access to
Aldor: yellow gem that give crit rating (frozen shadow weave can benefit from that).
Scryer: Red gem that gives spl dmg (spell strike can benefit from this, but it also benefits from a yellow gem).

Tailoring:
Aldor is a heal enchant
scryer is a spl dmg enchant so the choice is easy here.

I do not plan to stay tailoring, and I am fairly certain it will not be a pain to find someone who can give me the proper spellthread.

To summarize: what do you prefer 3spl dmg or 0.09 crit chance?
