Hi guys,

So I followed the FAQ on getting the US English version of WoW running on my PC.

1. Installed version 1.11.0 of the original game
2. Patched to 1.12.0 from a file downloaded from gamespot.com
3. Patched to 1.12.1 from a file downloaded from gamespot.com
4. Copied the 4 files from the FAQ to my WoW root directory after backing up the originals.
5. Changed the realmlist.wtf to cn3.grunt.wowchina.com
6. Downloaded patch-3.MPQ and installed in my data directory (no existing patch-3.MPQ file as the FAQ suggested there might be).
7. Downloaded the enwow1123.exe file and executed.

I get the login screen showing version 1.12.3 (6141) Nov. 14 2006.

But here's what I get:

1. The server messages from the US are still showing up
2. I login with my CHINESE WOW SERVER user id and password (I got the card, registered it, and my girlfriend has used this account for quite some time and I tried it to test out my installation).
3. All I get is the US "Choose a Realm" option screen. Obviously all of the "suggestions" show no available servers.

Somehow when I login, it's not allowing me to access the actual account...

Can someone please help me? I must be missing some step...

don't worry everything is fine.. when you get to the choose a realm screen tick "United States" and then press "Suggest realm" if you followed Nakim's font guide you can see the chinese realm servers if not you can still play by picking the server where you see you have a specific number of characters (toons)

wyeme, if you should still have trouble, pm me, and i add you ot MSN, QQ, YIM, or any other thing where i can let you see my screen via webcam plugin, and i guide you through.
by what you wrote, everything should be fine though.

wyeme, i don't know if you know but in the thread where you get all these installation infos someone is give the .rar of all the files...the files which are from the first are corrupted...so check below or on the net page of the same thread...someone post the .rar again with correct files inside...hope it is your solution !!

I've installed the font files as directed, however, i still can't get any realm lists to appear, no matter what options I choose. I get all the way through authentication, just no where to go after there. I've also tried downloading different versions of the files (patch-3.mpq and hehehe.rar), using the files from the Chinese wow client, etc...

No errors, just empty realm lists.

Any one have anymore ideas?

I think the server were down? Tuesday, I remember realms were closed on tuesday?

tuesday monrings. open between 10 and noon...
but i think he has same prob today still....
if he sees no realmtext, its just a font problem.
but if he has some toons created already and still can't see a number somewhere, then i also dont know.. lol

I'm not sure whether it's the perfect fix or not, but I did manage to get the game working by modifying my config.wtf file in the WDF directory to add the parameter SET realmName "涓硅帿寰? and now the game logs me directly to my character list.

For those of you who don't play on district 3/7, as far as i know the realms just don't show up in the US client. Doesn't matter what you do, they show up for me in every other district, but not 3/7. the way i normally do it is login using my chinese client then copy over my wtf folder so it autologs me into the correct server, otherwise you can manually set your realmname as wyeme did.

The reason, i assume, is because 3/7 in the chinese client used to actually have the realms split up, the way the US client does with north america and oceanic, so you could select district 3 or district 7 with a tab which doesn't show up in the US client. But none of the other districts do that, so you can see those just fine with the US client.

first check www.wowchina.com and see if you realm is suposed to be online before making any change

I'm kinda in the same boat as wyeme is, only I can't get to the font file which Naklim recommends coz the link goes to a 404 error...

Anyhow, I don't get any realms at the moment, even if I change the realmlist to the suggestion by Wyeme (I don't have any toons anywhere at the moment, and am presently downloading the Chinese client!).

Can anyone shed any more light on this prob, or do I have to go buy another reload card and play on Beijing/Shanghai etc.? Please advise...

Currently China Realms = EU/US Realms (patch) so just patch to newest version change realm and you should easily be fine.

Well I be danged... okay well I tracked down the realm status list off www.wowchina.com, and it worked - almost. You see, I haven't created a toon on a Chinese server yet :-( Do I have to go to an internet cafe and create a toon then log into the realm at home? Seems like a bit of a pain in the backside to me... esp. as I'm doing this real clandenstinely so my g/f won't kill me when she finds out I'm back on the Wowbottle, lol...

Btw, it might be the fonts thing, so I'm downloading the file (thanks yryana!), so if that fixes it, woo!

Nope, the fonts thing resolved the li'l "??" I see at the bottom right of the login screen, but nothin' else. Dang. I take it I gotta create some toons on a Chinese version of the game then huh? O well, looks like I gotta keep downloading it...

Unless someone has any suggestions? Maybe I missed something in another post??

So I have been scanning the forum for a solution to this. I recently got a new computer in my Yongzhou apartment. I installed the English version and have been playing the Stateside one in the morning when lag is manageable. But then I discovered that Wowchina and US wow are on the same patch version. Remembering my Draeni Priest I decided to hop on. But I am having the no realm names issue. Like I said I have been scanning the forum for a solution but no joy. Here is what I have tried so far. Installing the font files, changing realmslist wtf, changing the config.wtf to SET realmname for my appropriate realm. I must be doing something wrong. Looking forward to any help you guys have.

i just started wow
i want to play on chinese server, but i have a US version of the game
i followed the guide
1. Installed version 1.11.0 of the original game
2. Patched to 1.12.0
3. Patched to 2.3.0
4. Changed the realmlist.wtf to cn7.grunt.wowchina.com

however, i cannot see a realm list, and the method given above is for a pervious patch, anyone has any ideas on how to overcome this? in the game, there is only the option of selecting US as server area, i clicked on it, and there is no list...
