Hey everyone,

I've read the thousands of posts of the forum, but there is still nothing to help me since all the links are dead and that I didn't find any solution to solve the problem.

The thing is that I have a french version of WoW (Downloaded from WoW europe official website). I got it updated and then switched for the realmlist cn1.grunt ....

And now when I launch the game. enter my chinese account login and pass, I'm obliged to check "english" in languaged preferences (it's the only option available) and when I click on the button to get the realmlist, it comes empty. Not even a thing.

Then does someone have a solution for me ?
Do I need to switch files with chinese version ones? If yes, are there some working links ?

Hmm, as far as i know, since this one patch come out for china, other language versions of WoW have been unable to see realms. I was affected by this too but decided to switch to the chinese WoW version since it works out much easier in terms of patching and stuff.

If I use a chinese of WoW, could it be configured to have quests in english or french ?

A chinese friend told me that it was possible to set up that during the installation.

hmmm, that i dont know. but theres this addon called mobmap that you can add which has a little button that displays the quest text in english, but i dont really see how that would help since everything else in in chinese, unless you're already very familiar with the areas and mobs.
For quests, i have this nifty little chinese addon that tells me where to kill specific mobs and where quest finish NPCs are. but for item locations and such it doesnt work.

Hum... That would be my last hope, since I want to play a game that I understand

I've read that I should replace the .exe by a chinese one.

I also think that I can't get the list of the servers because during after I sign up, they ask me the kind of server I want like pvp / pve / rpg / ... and also the language. There is only "english" proposed, then I'm obliged to click it and of course, chinese servers are not in english... Maybe there is a trick with some reg files ?

Thanks man, still it doesn't work.

I'm able to get on the Maduolan character page, but I think that since i don't have any character on it, it comes back to the first page where you select the kind of servers you like.

I have to create a character on it, but if I can't connect, it won't be easy ... I will have to go to an internet cafe :-S It's cold outside...

Hmm, I guess creating a character first using a computer which u can connect to WoW properly (eg. using the Chinese client at netbars, good idea really ) would work out fine.
But you have to select the same server that you configured in your config.wtf though.

We are two french men playing hord on maduolan. I know that Maduolan is Alliance, but we don't like alliance :p

Argggg, this matter comes back again...

It doesn't work anymore. I think it's because your config file with "setUP realmName etc... Can't hold maduolan in chinese character because of unicode stuff.

I was wondering if it's possible to remove the welcoming screen after the log in. The one where you choose the kind of realms you wanna play and the language you want to speak. Since there is only "english" in my list, it's where the conflict must come.

Maybe I should replace another file with a chinese one? Or edit another config?

Ohh damn. Hmm okay uhh, you could try changing the font in notepad to something that supports chinese maybe?
Oh and that screen, its not removable, something to do with your configuration..

I checked on the forum after 2 hours searching, and there is a solution, you have to save the file in format 8.

If you play horde side, why not come to PVP 山丘之王 realm ? in the same server 1
we are 5 already in PVP is pretty much funny

other things, if you want to create a char for the first time. I did as follow;
Open game and ofccourse canot see any realms name... When you instal the game for the 1st time the folder called ACCOUNT in the WTF folder doesn't exist. So I choosed one realm (without know the name) and created a char in it. Then I playes 1 mins with and closed the game.
At that time a folder called "account" apperad in the WTF folder.
I doubled click on the WTF config folder, opened with word pad and changed the realm name by copy in 山丘之王.
Saved and close. Restarted the game and I was on the realm I wanted

Actually you don't need the WoW.exe file, i just found out. I'm using WoW enUS and i used the original exe file. Just create a Fonts folder in the main WoW folder and extract all these fonts into it:
fonts.zip
30mb download.
After that, you should be able to see the realms and chinese text in-game.
Im hosting the files myself so please inform me if they don't work anymore.

dude, jsut casue u have the fonts file still doesnt make you able to see the realms however you are able to see the chinese characters ingame =)

er... DUH, yes the fonts file "a priori" lets you see the realmlist.
payed real attention to have a font replace the fonts used by GlueXML from WoW.
but the problem lies on TABBED realmlists in chinese WoW since the server merges.
Put it this way: without fonts file you see NOTHING 100% guaranteed
WITH fonts file, you will see some realms, yet not all of them, due to tabbed realmlists.

please, when you spread FUD and BS, at least know what you say.

nothing beats me more than a tuesday morning, no sleep last night, no wow server up, and having to re-install vistax64 on 2 machines because both main drives blew due to a power surge and a faulty UPS.
So much for my night.... now starting to restore installed software.... a true pain.
Thank god i have Black & white 2 to get the mood high by playing a sadistic evil god and throwing my whole population into torture pits to make'em work... gotta love the game for swinging your mood... ^^

LOL, but my point remains.....u can only see like 8 randoms realms with the fonts, neither of which are the ones you probabley play....lol

As for the European sarcasm i get you, B&W 2 FTW , cant beat and evil cow smacking around the enemy village!!! .....and throwing craps at them is also rather entertaining =)
