Hi all. I have an established account on a US server. I do not have a computer here or my game disks. Its only a couple of month stay so Im not looking to reroll on a China server.

Are there any know internet cafes in Beijing that have the US version of wow/tbc? I am yet to find one. I am aware lag will be less than desirable but I'd be happy to just level an alt.

Appreciate any help from you guys.

I would not recomend playin on US server while you stay in China for the following reason.

when u log onto your account, if blizzard becomes aware that your accounts IP address has changed from a US location to a Chinese one, then you risk getting a Temp ban (or an account closure) because Blizzard will think you have either a) been hacked or b) hired chinese powerleveller/gold farming service to play your accoutn

However, you will probably be able to get your account back. This happened to me so many times I gave up in the end.

Some ppl get away with it some dont. Its a game of chance

Yeah its fine, I have talked to Blizzard support before coming. As long as you dont log on via a China IP then 5 hours later a US IP, your fine.

An account ban isnt really going to hurt me at the moment, I cant play at all while here as it stands.

The question is, does any net cafe have the US version. It would be lovely to find one, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

Yeah, I have foundseveral internet cafe's in m city that do have englissh versions of the game installed on their computers. Just have to look for them, ask for : "meiguo de mo so shi jie" not sure of pinying.

You can change the server list to reresent American one's: "us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"
in the realmlist.

Another thing you could do is take the US version down to internet bar (if you have 1) and plead with them to install it for you...

When I first started looking..I went to internet cafe and walked around to I found couple hardcore gamers playing wow. Then just talk to them, use chinese of course or if you cant speak it, take a chinese friend

Resto, are you in Beijing by chance?

If you can point us in the right direction of any of these cafes it would be ideal.

My local has China only, Im thinking about asking them to download the authentication page.

I've tried the realmlist change, it didnt work for me.

Um talk to one of the young guys working there..they can download the US version for you (especially so if you bribe them with like 20 yuan, but thats not completely neccessary)

They should be able to set it up for you..

if you plan to stay in BJ long why play on US now, its damn pain with lag. Come play with us on Chinese server. I hook u up with decent chinese hardcore guild. no lag no hussle. Many speak very good english.

Also, first i came here i talked with local internet cafe guys and they installed US WOW for me on one computer. I just promissed that i will play only in their place.

I have found somewhere where changing the realmlist seems to work. Its not raid quality but I can at least grind up some gold.

Can't read the quest log though as its all in Chinese. Can't find any way around this.

hey matt, have your problem solved, I have a french friend with the same problem before, and i found a free proxy server for him to deal with the lag, playing in EU server, and the ping is low and acceptable...
