Just saw on wowchina.com the patch is coming this week.. but to 3.0.5 build 9294. It's over 2GB in size... is this including WotLK? I'm running the english version and am afraid we're going to have patch level synch problems again! Help! Especially anyone who can read Chinese! Am I getting something wrong here?

We don't give a **** about the content of the link but it says that a 3.0.4 patch is coming out (2 weeks after WOLK release, so it should be this week).

i've checked the patch notes and compared between wow china patch notes and wow eu patch notes. What i found out is that they are the same. So my guess is,wow china uses other name than wow eu/US. Correct me if i'm wrong guys. Thx

My guess is that this patch includes WotLK since it's like 2.6GB in size. The total 2.4.3 -> 3.0.2 patches equals less than 1.3GB. I'm not positive, but might explain the patch size difference. I'm hoping that the "extra" content of the Chinese patch won't prevent the english patch version, without Wotlk, from working. I've already downloaded up to 3.0.2 so wish me luck on Wednesday when I try it out...

I'm also assuming you can patch to the most current version of WoW (i.e. 3.0.2) WITHOUT having Woltk... as far as I know, no one is "forced" to upgrade, and the patches keep the base game working regardless of expansions purchased. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm not sure about that. A friend I work with downloaded the WOW trial client and tried to play on the Chinese servers and it told him he need BC to play when he tried to log on. I'm thinking because the expansions are free here in China people are forced to upgrade when they become available on the website.

any updates about this? i am extremely confused abotu the patch size and how it could not be WOLK. I am not especially fond of playing in chinese. And i always downloaded my patches from the US blizzard mirrors, anyone know a faster place?

You are able to play WoW in China on your Mac? I remember I tried that, and even with the exact same patch level, it still told me there was a version problem...

A lot of the news my wife (Chinese) and I have been reading lately has said that the content of the WotLK expansion didn't meet with the new family values directives for China in 2008. You probably already know about the tomb stones and toned-down undead content in the Chinese version of TBC.

It's widely rumoured that a lot of the Death Knight content would have to be "modified" to meet the new standards. If I can find a source, I'll link it in for you.

Either way, it's all speculation until tomorrow.. or midnight tonight for the devout.

Sure, but that doesn't mean you can't connect to the Main server. Right now with v2.4.3 it will tell you something like: "Unable to validate current client version" if you try to connect to the server.

Downloading 3.0.2 and 3.0.3 right now. Also, while checking Wowwiki patch mirror for US patches, the one that was greater than 2GB was a patch for people who are still using vanilla wow(no TBC) and want to upgrade from 2.4.3->3.0. The other patch for people who already had TBC installed was ~800MB and also from 2.4.3->3.0 so the big file on the chinese site is probably that patch version and it cannot be WOTLK since that is about 7.7GB on The Bay.

Im guessing all we have to do once they are done is repeat what we did for the 1.XX patch that was a pain in the ass.

Guys please feedback asap if you can use Europe Version with 3.02 patch and realmlist modification. Dont forget servers are only up and running from the 10.12.2008 as THE9 need 24 hours maintenance.

I will also give it a shot but have to download 3.02 first

For courrent stage to be safe i recommend to use the Chinese Client to play the 3.05 (shit also have to download 2.6gb).

Looks similar situation as the evil patch 2.13 in the past where someone modified the files to make it work. Dont run repair exe or something!!!

If you want to upgrade your WOW to 3.02 copy your WOW folder to another partition. If you fail you can still use that folder later on or you have to wait until both versions are patched even.
Hope that happens fast hate to play the chinese version.....

I installed EU 3.0.3 Mac client, it seems the link has been reset to connect to EU servers again. I'll come back to you with more information soon!

As www.wowchina.com says....WoW is down for 24 hours +.

1. 3.0.2 IS Wotlk for USA servers and was about 1.3gbs in total size. I don't expect the expansion content to be available at this time however...even though we have the majority of files.

2. The9 is probably expecting a lot of return players for the expansion...so released it as 1 patch, rather than a simple update.

3. They KNEW they would be down for 24+ hours, so thought it would be fun to keep everyone busy downloading a massive patch...and not spam the login servers every 5 mins.

4. The 3.0.5 (over the USA 3.0.3 version) probably is required for the matrix system or whatever.

5. Patience! There will be a fix available soon. I'd guess replacing the 3.0.5 Chinese wow.exe file (with the 3.0.3 USA wow.exe) will solve the problem for the version diff.

6. Patience! Hehe.

Okay, back home and 3.0.3 version ready to use.
I enter my account name, password and even PIN (so there is a connection between me and the server) but well, as i expected : Invalid game version.

That doesn't mean the server is off, it means that we don't have the right version and can't play.
I'm not so good at computers and I am not able at all to find a solution replacing files. So if anyone knows, please tell.

I'm installing now the chinese 3.0.5 patch on a chinese 2.4.3 game partition.

For now i'm downloading the 2.4.0 file on my Chinese WoW i had on my harddisk. I didnt use it for at least 1 year =.=

It takes ages. Anyways, I'm waiting, if you got news post !
