Starting from the 8th August 2008 to 25th August 2008, players who participate in the battlegrounds have a chance to get the a Competitor's Tabard and a Gold Medallion that summons a non-combat dragon pet. I just got both items today after watching the Olympics opening ceremony (which was fantastic) and they look awesome, here's a screenshot of it on my hunter 
The tabard is a 100% drop rate if you
enter and complete any battleground.
The medallion is a chance drop from
completing and winning any battleground.

I got my Gold Medallion on the 2nd battleground win, but 20% should be a likely drop rate.
Both items are mailed to your inbox immediately after finishing a battleground.
