And one question, is it possible to have 2 games installed.
I mean, one to play on chinese realm and one with WOTLK to play on EU.
Cause if you do updates on one, will it do it for the other?

Yes you can install 2 games just make sure u dont install in the same folder ; )

Some instructions for WOTLK.

Most of you will have a 2.4.3 europe version modified for chinese server on the computer.

If you have it really installed (including choose folder, registry entries etc), the normal way i mean, copy your 2.4.3 to another device.
C:\World of warcraft (original)
D:\World of warcraft China (copy)

Now just uninstall C:\World of warcraft, mount the wotlk iso file with daemon tools, choose languages and install. You will have C:\World of warcraft (Lichking) on your computer.

Copy again the 3.0.1-->3.0.2 and the 3.0.2-->3.0.3 from D:\World of warcraft China (copy) to C:\World of warcraft (Lichking) and execute them. The wotlk disks was all manufactured at 3.0.1 so the 2 updates are again nesessary.

If you follow this way, you are in less then one hour in northrend. Only the waiting queues on the server are not so funny. Last night I was on position 800 and waited around one hour.

btw, I have actual 3 installations on my computer.

D:\World of warcraft (german for chinese server)
E:\World of warcraft China (chinese for chinese server)
F:\World of warcraft China (german/english for the Lichking)

@stItCh, I will be at BM2 if you want copy the file. If i'm not there, np, I living directly above the bar. :-)

i did: copy the game to an other partition/hard drive. i will update one of them to Woltk asap my dl is finished :p

No you dont need the registry files !!! I have copied my WOW between difrrent pcs and it always works.

I guess if you dont uninstall it you might get a conflict by installing WOTLK......

From my opinion it should be like TBC you just install it into your existing WOW but i did not tried it yet for WOTLK.
When u start first time WOTLK it should download the latest patches first !!

!!! I do not suggest o use ur 2.4.3 version to download them !!!
U might screw it up if it installs the patch after download automaticly

WOW don't need any registry entry. You also can copy the whole folder to a external hard drive and play anywhere you like.

I'm not sure, what happens with a chinese version if you update it with a german/english lichking version.

because of this, I went last night the safe way.

Copy your version, whatever you use for chinese servers, to another device. Make a new link from wow.exe to your desktop.

Uninstall the game, so no more entries of your chinese version is in the registry.

Install the wotlk version. If you don't uninstall, you cannot install a second one, only upgrade. And my last installed version was a chinese language version for my wife. :-)

After complete installation you can move also the wotlk folder to any other device, make a new desktop link to wow.exe and uninstall again. So your system is ready for a russian version, or suaheli, or whatever. :-):-)

Never start the game with the launcher.exe if you have several copies of wow on your computer.
If updates are available and you start the launcher.exe it always updates the version what is normal installed (incl. registry entries)
Always start with wow.exe, so the available updates will be installed in the folder from which version you started the wow.exe just before.

Actually it is very easy, maybe I write only to complicated. :-):-)

I just copied the wow directory on an other partition and it works fine.

Now, later when muyDL will be finished, The Wolk installer will not ask any target to unstuff/install the game, so where it will go ?

it will install it on the 1st installed version, right ? for me that one on /F (i made the copy on /D )

OK, maybe I got it. Can it be, that there is some misunderstanding and not everybody knows that the wotlk-iso-image is the FULL game? It is WOW + TBC + WOTLK. Only one double layer DVD, no more CD changes.

Your actual situation:
You installed wow on D:\, you installed it on the right way, right? (put CD in drive, choose folder, install, blablabla).

Now you COPIED the whole wow folder from F:\ to D:\, and you can play with the copied game.

I guess you have a french version. eng, ger, esp is the same.

I guess you DON'T have a chinese, korean, russian one.

If you mount now the wotlk image and install, the installation starts and don't ask you anthing, except choose your languages.
It will automatic installed in F:\, and UPDATE your installed version, because this is the one with the registry entries.

That is for most people the standard wotlk update. Maybe we have to readjust our config-file, because you changed before for chinese login.

i just need to update my game to 3.0.3 for the moment... Till i'm lvl 68 then activate wolkt.

From now i got an other problem. i got the update World of Warcraft from 2.4.3 to 3.0.1.

a .txt says:

1. Copy the folder named "WoW-2.4.3-to-3.0.1-TBC-NA" to your World of Warcraft folder.
2. (Windows) Run Updater.exe from that folder (Mac) Run Updater.app from that folder.

This will patch your current World of Warcraft 2.4.3 version.

I don't have the updater.Exe in this folder, i cannot find it our in my computer. I got 3 folders in WoW-2.4.3-to-3.0.1-TBC-EU.
They are: Installer Tome.mpq (1016268Ko) Installer Tome 2.mpq(33893ko) Installer Tome 3 .mpq(10521ko)

You don't need the update files. The WOTLK disk is on 3.0.1 level.

The updates was necessary, because there was a 4 weeks long pre-Lichking-event, and 3.0.1 was necessary. Later on 3.0.2

If you update your Version where you play on chinese servers to three-point-whatever, It will NOT work anymore.

If you have a account in europe, but not WOTLK activated, I am not sure, if you can connect after you installed the whole 8GB wotlk client. In this case you need the step-by-step updates to 3.0.3

For your safety, always safe a running wow installation at a seperate place. External hard disk is the best.
After my several tests the last few weeks with different clients on different servers at different continents I have at least 10 different wow-folders.

for chinese client I know it will nt work if I update it. That's why I saved it on a different partition. AN other version for a private server is safe on an other partition also.
About roll my first toon on a french server, my friend got wow 3.0.3 and play like this he still didn't activate TBC also for the moment, no need cauze he's lvl16... me too in fact, but I already have it (tbc). I don't need woltk at all for the moment, it will wait me till i reach the lvl 68 on a DVD. although with sponsorship it should be quick XP*3 when we play together with max 3 lvl difference between us.

With sponsorship we can get PEX*3 + 10 days free. + 30 days from the classic wow box + 30 days from TBC dunno if i can cumulate the advantage... will see.

Normal way should be you rename Realmlist back to european server and start the game it will automaticly download the required patch and install it
