Playing on US Realms

So I found this site just now. People, why do you bother to play on chinese shitty servers? Yeah, ping is 5-6ms (at least for me), but it's lacking lot of stuff and community.

I'am user of China Unicom's FTTH internet for 2 years and never had a problems playing on US servers. My ping to West Cost is 140-150 at day time, at 6-9PM it's like 180-190 and at night it is 130-140 again. It's more then OK. Just try to change your ISP. Smile

Lt.Saw can you go in game and take screens of your ping when you are inside cities and when you are raiding?

I'm on my Mac right now so can't do that, but in-game ping is no more than 200 for me on West Cost Realms, but on EU and East Cost it sucks, it is like 300-400ms.

I've been playing on USA servers for a couple months now. No problems with ping, communication, etc. It's so nice to be in a 5-man and chat with people and know what's happening all the time.

Wonder when CWOW will get WLK? LOL

BTW, If you don't have an International CC, you can buy CD-keys, 60-day time cards, even the authenticator for USA servers on taobao.

Erm, can you go into more detail about what kind of internet you buy? I'm on China telecom 6mb in Hangzhou... and it's shit. Dcs a lot.

Show me your pings they will not be below 500 to 600 ms in cities or during peak times no chance. I tried it with Europe and USA server Taiwan is still better with 150ms average!!!

Lol, did screenshot yesterday but forgot my password and your forum sended it me only today. Here is my Ping in Stormwind at 7:29PM here in China. 4:29AM in US. The real ping to server (Khaz'Goroth - LA) was 199ms. At ~10PM to 3:00PM next day ping is ~180ms in-game and 140ms real.

Oh wow, your internet suck. My ping to Taiwan server is 34ms real and ~50 in-game all the time, played a little, and didn't like it. But as I said, I don't want to play on shitty chinese realms when I can play on normal US realms, oh yeah, Cataclysm comes soon here too and WoTLK is still not released in China.

I have 25Mbps plan from China Unicom. Not ADSL, it's Fiber connection, FTTH plan, much like FiOS in US.

Wah Wah Wah. I've nothing to prove. Screw playing on asian servers, however. Ping rates are not only dependent on net connections. Upgrade yer crappy PC for better rates in cities. Smile

25mb? wow. How does it cost you for a month? knowing that I pay 130rmb/month for a shit 512kbs adsl I guess it must be quiet expensive. Also fiber is far from being accessible to every buildings in China. You most likely live in one of those luxuous areas.

Imo I still think the time lag can be pretty annoying if you wanna raid. Not to mention you don't learn any chinese then Wink

But anyway, good to know that if you don't mind spending on your internet connection you get some viable alternatives.

190RMB. 25Mb is to oversees. To local servers it's like 100MBps, I get download speeds from Chinese torrents like 10Mbyte/s.

And no, I don't live in Delux Compund. It's standart building in Hong Kou, Shanghai. Actually only few foreigners live here, and all of them japanese or koreans. You can tell it's not delux because I pay for 1 bed room and 1 living room flat fee of 2400RMB/month.

I live in Shanghai, and I am LUCKY with my FTTB which is not H which is even more rare to get.

You got lucky with all the factors weighing in for ping.
besides.. wait a month or two until routing tables change (because they change in china), and you might either be as lucky, or still be royally screwed all of a sudden.

so, i have to pay double, to have pretty much the same ping than on TW servers with almost ANY connection, AND i must be lucky that my living place has been fibered...

then again, routing tables change.. hehe...
and your ping to a server does not depend on your bandwidth, just fyi. so saying you have FTTH is enough. 25Mbit has nothing to do with it.

If you've only played on China servers... you're missing out bro. I'm pretty happy with where I am. Downed the Lich King on 25 man and Ruby Sanctum 10. Now working on 10 man Lich King and some 25 man heroics.

It seems Lich King will be dying a lot in China very soon. I think I can enjoy that for a couple years.

Why are you recruiting expatriate players in China for US servers? Is that friendly community over there (where I started Life and WoW) so difficult to find a few guildmates or are we just that cool?

We just need more people on our time frame to farm LK and eventually do ICC heroics before the next expansion comes out. Sometimes people on the West Coast can't stay up that late.

Location, location, location. We already have a good 10-man crew here but we're thinking of expanding our team so we can have more flexibility in terms of raid comp and if we get enough people, we can do 25man content on weeknights - which will be awesome.

In addition, it would be nice to get all the old world content done as well, since the new expansion will be changing all of that.

Wich realm are you on? And is it US? Also I don't do raids, moslty PvP, because I don't have enough people to play with todo 10 and 25 man raids. So I'm PvP geared. Will my DK lvl234 gear do any good?

Don't know about store, but do you have any chinese JCB card? I know internet shop that accept it. Also this shop has bundle of WoW Vanilla + TBC + WoTLK for only 79$.
