I noticed there are posts with instructions on how to play english wow in china but I wonder if there will be any further complications with the WOTLK version ?
Also does anyone know which build will be released (for example will Ulduar and ICC be available right away or will content be released in stages like it was on NA servers)?

Im looking to spend most of my playtime in pvp, so are there any active guilds that focus on pvp ?
What are the average queue times for BG's/Arenas ?
Are addons allowed and would an english addon work here ?
Is it going to be difficult (chinese charactors required) to set up macros ?

Thanks in advance for any constructive feedback. Any other advise before trying to get started on a Chinese server would also be appreciated.

Hey I think I can answer some of ur questions.

1. The CWLK patch that we are gonna have on 31st is Patch 3.22, which include everything up to T9, which is NAXX-TOC. Icc is not included. Also TOC will not be released all together. It would be like Sunwell, where only one boss is released per week. It may take five weeks or more, for the entire TOC to be fully available.

2. I'm playing on Maduolan, Area 1, Shanghai Region. But this server is pve and the horde population is small, very small. But you are more than welcome to join us by /join English.

3. So far as I know, even an English bigfoot can work on chinese version wow. Oh, in case you don't know what bigfoot is, it's a well-known chinese intergreted addon which includes recount, DBM, OMEN and other popular addons.

4. I am no master of setting up macros but i do know that you can input english letter in the macro. For the spells, just shift+spell in the spell book.

I expect the complications to be the same we have now(having to use a custom model edit fix to bypass server check, and disguise the foreign client into a chinese one). In the best case, you can just log as it is with your 3.2.2 unmodified client, but I believe netease is checking the locale of the clients connecting on the server; that would be illogical to censor the chinese client but let the uncensored ones connect on the servers.


if you use an english client modified for chinese realm, you still use english addons from curse and macro are still written in english.

Would using the modified client be against th ToS over here ? I'd hate to risk being banned for wanting to play in my native language...

I have to hear about someone getting banned for this yet, people have been playing like this for years.

Ah ok. I saw another post mention a bunch of players getting banned but I guess it was for something unrelated.

It's censored for a reason. I don't see why they would let us bypass it. Then again, we have VPNs and we don't get jailed...
