Hi, all. Just discovered this site yesterday, and have already learned a lot from you. Finally figured out how to use the American version of WoW on the Taiwan servers, thank you very much!

I'm wondering who here is active on any of the Taiwan realms. Or can anyone suggest a guild there that will tolerate English in guild chat?

I've started leveling a hunter on one of the newer realms there, only because I'm already familiar with the class so figured I'd have a chance of success if I have no English on tooltips. Now that I've got that problem eliminated, I might just reroll something else for a change.

I'm an American male in his early 40s, long-time resident of Taiwan ( > 10 years), with a raiding hunter on one of the Oceanic realms (Jubei'Thos). Still raid with them a few times weekly, but tired of the US server latency, and LOVE being under 100 ms on the local servers.

Yes, I think a lot of us tried to play on the Taiwanese realms, at least to see what the new races look like.
I am one of those, I created a Paladin Blood elf on 血頂部族 and a Shaman Drainei on 尖石, who are both stuck lvl15... trial account...
But most of us are in China, so Taiwanese reload cards are not easily found (Hum... I don't consider buying on Chinese websites as easy ^^'), and BC is supposed to be coming out soon here, so...

P.S: By the way, if someone knows a place where we can buy TW reload cards in Beijing, feel free to tell me!

hi there, i been playing TWoW for almost a month. created two toons and now loving my lvl31 BF warlock. community is much better than i was with US/Oceanic server and it almost a "complete" new feel to me. as for my payment to TWoW, it can be purchase with MYCARD either 150 points or 450 points card (go for 450pts = monthly card).

most of all TWoW support MAC platform!!!! (yeah good news right? i know your pain & frustration with CWoW for fellow MAC )

taiwanese do understand english speaking players!!!! heeheee....

once you registered, you have a 14days trial of gameplay time. afterwhich go to MY CARD site and purchase their 450pts card. Top-up your points via TWoW Official site under following steps;

Really? Maybe I should try your server. The handful of players I've found on 霜之哀傷 (Alliance) who don't beg me to stop typing English are from Hong Kong.

I'd be willing to reroll on another TW realm if there was non English-phobic guild on it.

so far i spoke to them in english they do understand. most of them replied me either in english or chinese. Still Taiwanese preferred to speak in chinese language. currently i am not with any guild yet (still looking for a one though). if any of you joining this server and we have enough of players then we may consider create a guild of our own....... with FUN too!!!

I have no idea what I am looking at on the card purchase site mentioned first in this thread. It asks for some kind of number that is divided into three parts before I give my email. I can't get past that part.

not the mycard one.. did i buy the wrong cards?

I think the $150 one is for a trial account, which should be the right one if you're opening a new account.

For monthly renewals, they've stopped printing cards altogether. It's all handled online now.

I'm afraid I can't help you navigate the site as I've not been able to do it without help from a native, and even then it took some trial and error. If someone updates the old step-by-step, it would be great, but if you're Chinese is as bad as mine, you should probably find a friend to sit with in front of a PC.

I also would appreciate the help of either a walk through on the mycard registration, or even help running down to the local 7-11 to pick up one or two cards for me. I am playing on 語風 realm with a level 70 hunter, 44 priest, 40 druid, 34 warrior 34 mage. The goal is to have my own raiding party some day =P

I am playing Horde, but have a lvl 17 alliance alt for auction house purposes. I leveled 3 alliance to 60 on Draenor in the US, so I figured I should try horde on the TW servers.

Look for my main "Freitag" I am also running my own guild anyone in the guild "Powercrush" should be my alts... I am playing from the US, so time zone may be an issue, but I have a pretty flexible schedule and can hop on in the afternoons sometime. Also travel to Taiwan a lot so when I am local (about one week out of the month) I can get on local time easier.

That was the name of my first main that I leveled to 60 when the game originally released. He was a Priest =P

BTW, can the person that I chatted with ingame the other day send me a PM? I could use help getting a 150 point reload card... Not going back to Taiwan for a couple of weeks.

<Walkthrough>
1. go to http://www.wowtaiwan.com.tw/
2. click onto left banner MANAGE ACCOUNT
3. click onto MyCard儲值 (refer to MyCard top up)
4. another page will pop out, enter your card number and serial key
MyCard 序號 <key in card number>
MyCard 密碼 <key in card serial key>
5. while processing the transaction the site will need verification with your TWoW account. key in your game account ID.
6. next it will bring you to official TWoW site, again key in your ID / password.
7. MY CARD will continue process your transaction and it done.
8. once sucessfully done, you get to see a page with a confimation transaction ID.

the above mentioned are accordingly to my knowledge as currently i still under my valid month paid account. so till then i shall able to update each step more precisely (but nevertheless the above stated are almost 85% accuracy).

150 or 350 points card is a hourly charge card (1hr game time = 5 points)
450 points card is a monthly card. (unlimited gameplay)

So, what server do people play on here in Taiwan and is it PvP or PvE? I don't really mind, as long as I have some people to play with now that I've finally got it all working.
Just going to try to be less of a slave to the game than I was back in the UK when I played there.
Hope there's some fun people out there that don't mind to team up and do some stuff.
I'll be starting from scratch, so it'll take me a while to catch up to you long time players.

Actually, I can't navigate the mycard site to buy points. I was trying to use a credit card to buy points but I can't figure out where to go to enter a US credit card.

Never Mind, some googling brought me to : www.offgamers.com you can buy Mycard points using Paypal and other transaction methods in english. Taiwan wow transaction server is down at the moment, so i will let you guys know if this worked ok.

I've got a Draenei 70 hunter on 霜之哀傷 (Frostmourne), which is one of the "New" PVP servers. Our guild "Legend" has another expat, and a lot of people who understand and/or are willing to chat in English. (Though probably 2/3 will tell you they don't understand English.)

You're welcome to roll there and send a tell for a guild invite. There are enough alts that you can probably find some leveling partners.

Or I might roll a horde alt on a different server.

I need help. Although I'm in my 30's please respond to this post as if i were 5.

I live in Kaohsiung Taiwan. I want to play wow. I cannot speak or read Chinese. I do not have a computer (that can handle wow). I do not have an English version of the game with me.

Question 1: Can I play WOW in English on the TW servers at any of the many "gaming cafes" here with the purchase of a monthly membership at that cafe.

Do I just need to buy a gaming computer here?

Question 2: Must I order an English copy of the game and have it shipped to me or can I download it (legally) from somewhere onto a computer at a cafe or a new computer I must purchase?

Question 3: If I get the free trial and want to continue with the account will they give me a digital download or must I find an English hard copy?

Question 4: I see on the official site that I can buy the expansion as a digital upgrade but am having trouble finding the original game as digital download. Is there a way to purchase the game with the expansion to download to my computer rather than ordering a hard copy to be sent to me.

Question 5 (last question): I see lots of information and walkthroughs on how to get an English version to play on the Chinese servers. Can anyone help with a walkthrough on how to get the English version to play on the TW servers?

Ok, let's see if I can help, even though I think I have the least experience here.
I was almost in the same situation as you, although I do have a computer good enough to run the game. You don't really need a cutting edge system to play the game, although something a little bit better is needed at higher levels when you play with a lot of other people in big groups.

The local version of WoW is all in Chinese, so no good, but I guess you might get some help setting up an account at a local internet cafe, as the whole registration page is in Chinese.

You can download the game legally, the problem I ran into was that I had to download the add-on as well, the Burning Crusade, and that's not as easy, as for some reason Blizzard is blocking this unless you have a full account in the US, but I found the download URL for it and there are no restrictions or passwords and strictly speaking, there's nothing illegal about downloading it.

The free trial is time and level limited, it has nothing to do with the software as the game is always full version, hence the huge download.

Again, it's all there, it's just a bit of a pain to find. http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/downloads/files/pc/wowclient-downloader.exe is where you'll find the downloader for the game client. You can then download the Burning Crusade from here http://games.internode.on.net/filelist.php?filedetails=12456
After than you need to apply patches up to version 2.32 to play on the Taiwan servers which will take some time to download as well.

Scott, there's no way to quickly change the Chinese language version of the game over to English, so playing at an internet cafe is going to be an all Chinese experience.

I feel it's also necessary to note that many internet cafes in Taiwan are now infested with trojan horses SPECIFICALLY targetted at stealing your WoW info. Basically, your account could very easily be stolen at any time. To address this, Blizzard has set up security locks which need users to first call a freephone line from a specific phone number before being allowed to login.

I'm new here too, also just started on the WoW Taiwan servers (血頂部族 I think - the recommended PvP server). Seemed easy enough to get my WoW EU client to work for WoW Taiwan fortunately (just edited the realmlist.wtf file and added those fonts that thelostswede linked to).

Are there any big English speaking groups or guilds I could join, or recommended servers?

I'm based in Hong Kong now. Used to play a lot of WoW on the European servers when I was in the UK (played for about 18 months or so, had three level 60s, but quit at the end of 2006 and missed the Burning Crusade... returning today though, I guess!).

If there are at least a handful of English speakers to play with, it could be fun.


Incidentally, I did try rejoining my old European server with some old friends... and I was happy to find I "only" had a 500-600ms ping! But then literally within 5 minutes of starting up the game, I got a random disconnection and told I WAS BANNED - "reason: account trading", or basically - banned for having a Hong Kong IP address. That totally and utterly sucked.

But I'd love to play on a more local WoW Taiwan server if I could.

I seriously wished everyone would migrate to a certain server so we can all play together. Its been a really lonely month on my server. Check out my post in the General forums.

I don't need a proxy to play from Mainland China do I? I am on Silver Hold right now, playing from Wenzhou, I was told I needed a proxy. Is it just a matter of time before I'm banned?

Same comment here as in other posts if u like to play with foreigners mainly and dont mind to play alliance on a PVE server join Cow Eaters on Maduolan, shanghai Nr.1.

Many other forum members already joined and we grow fast atm.
