I see Warhammer is giving out 10 day free trials....anybody tried playing on foreign servers from china? If so whats the ping like? Is is playable?

I was lucky enough to be on a 3 month vacation in the states when WAR came out, I was one of the saddo's who sat up until the server became active and played for 30 hours straight.

It's really not all that, its very much like WOW with a few improvements like PQ (public quests) and open groups..which we could really use in CWOW... but ultimately its disappointing...very PVP if ur into that. Engine wise its a lot more resource hungry than WOW so could call for an upgrade to ur machine if its a little older. To be honest I got bored with it after a month of the same old shit...most of the people I know dropped WOW to play it and have all since returned..

I tried to access my account when i got back to shanghai, no probs accessing but the ping is terrible..even re rolled on the Australian server but its not much better. AQll in all its worth a try but i'm pretty sure ull come to the same conclusion and revert back to WOW..even without WOTLK

i downloaded the 10 day trial, and signed up for an ausi server. My ping seems to be fine..they dont have any ingame option to see your ping but i did do a cmd ping test and got around 180. I get a bit of lag sometimes, but it is def playable. Seems pretty good so far...nice for a change from wow.

As ppl mentioned i think China telecom has change something, because pings to other country servers seem to be going much faster. I was playing TLK with 350 ping on an ausi server from here in SH.

Anyway if your bored, download the WAR client and try if for the free 10 days. If your ping is decent then you can always purchase it after that..

I am really keen to try this since i am bored of wow and have not even played in ages. I tried to download a client so i could play but i couldnt! I downloaded the patcher first but then when it tries to connect to download the rest of it it says "connecting to file manafest" or something and then it just dies and says it wont work.


Where can I download the client from?

Or when and how will it be available in china?


I would appriciate any feedback.

Thats a bit odd

I originally signed up for the trial and they forwarded me to a link. Although i did have some issues at first.

Make sure you only click the patcher once and wait for it to load. Also make sure you have enough free space. It can also take a while to initialize the patcher.

Are you using US version, or EU version. I was using US version

You can try a bit torrent version, and also check the warhammeronline.com forums for some answers to troubleshooting.

The trial is about 4 gig i think, my d/l took about 2 days. IF you do choose to buy the game, you need to d.l another 2 gig after that. The game is good, im lvl 39 Squig herder (40 lvl max). The pvp is pretty hectic end game, you ave to storm keeps etc and win zones....def a good change from wow.

I recommend playing on an oceanic server, the latency seems alot faster..I play on ironclaw ( my char name is "ziing")

Yeah I want to log into the US or Oceanic servers. I think the oceanic servers must have very low lag.

I have trid downloading the trial version from a few torrent places but they all seem to crash after about a day and i get an error message. I tried downloading a trial version from fileplanet that was about 6G but it was corrupted. I can get the Warhammer downloader to start but it is increadably painfuly slow to download the game which it says is 11G. It will take over a week and if the computer is restarted for any reason it resets back to 0%. started it three times now...

Where did you download from? Do you know anywhere I can get it from i really want to try this game out. I like the idea of the PVP /RvR aspect.

I signed up for free trial on US website then it offer's you a link for the trial client. The client should be about 6gig. It is only the trial client, so im not sure if your trial account will actually work with the full client. Once i bought the game it just downloaded another 3 gig patch on top of my trial client and then i had the full version.


I tried a few torrents but had the same prob, not enough seeders etc. Best to try from the US website. I know it goes very slow, but it seems to have periods. Mine went super fast sometimes and then was crawling at others. not sure why it would start back at 0%...normally when you restart the installer is checks the files you already have and goes from there.
I think if you look it probably starts at 0% but the total amount to download is smaller. So every time you use the downloader it will start at 0% but check because instead of 6 gig you probably only have 5 gig to download....

Well I downloaded it to about 99% but it keeps crashing on the WORLD file. I think its corrupted or something. I looked on the internet and apparantly this is a common problem for some people. However I havent found a solution posted for it anywhere. Not sure why mythic are not trying to fix it, not sure if its a problem with the file their end or with my computer or router this end.

I have been trying to download it for weeks so I am gonna give up, at least for the moment. Just too much hastle at the moment.

Although I would appriceate any mroe suggestions .

Well I've a better suggestion. Do like me and play a good old rpg like we like to see more often. Got a pretty good link to download Icewind dale 2 within a few hours in case you'd forgot your original cd's at home
