Hey guys,

I just wanted to start playing WOW. Now I have a european trial account and a european WOW version. But I am not able to connect... I have tried since days, but no chance.

Is there a relationship to the actual ban of WOW in china? What version and what region is playable in these times from china mainland / countryside?

I live 100km east of Tangshan, Hebei province.

hey tobi,

no regions are playable in China except Hong Kong and Taiwan but that's 'cause the servers are not "based" on the CWoW we play.
oh and WoW is NOT banned in china. i believe that you've got a problem with your WoW. I don't see why you cant play in europe from china.

I strongly disagree, I believe the CPC censured both US and EU servers from china, like the Facebook, Twitter and MySpace big block.

We don't really know if WoW is banned in china YET -No real proof-. Right now, all mainland servers are down. Taiwan servers are reachable, and I think Hong Kong servers are the same as US servers.
Servers that we use are all private servers. Not official.
All the other guys moved to other games -Aion, EVE-

Not sure if it's censored now but last week I could still play my European wow, but facebook also worked then. I will try it later when I am back on my pc at home.

Here is the problem, Blizzard has made it very clear you can not setup an account while based in China.....Well thats ok because I created my account when in Australia 5 years ago. So i played on the US servers from China for the 1st 6 months and then got banned...After a cple weeks I got my account back and they stated the reason for the banning is that they thought my account got hacked cuz IP was coming from China. Well after I got banned 6 times and retrieved my account 6 times...and after 20 emails to support pleading with them that I AM LIVING IN CHINA NOW THATS WHY THE IP IS COMING FROM THERE. I AM NOT A GOLD FARMER. I eventually gave up it would seem my words fell on deaf ears or blind eyes in this case.

However tech wise you should be able to connect no problem and play.

Yes, I know that the account can not be created from China. But you can do it, if you have a VPN connection to somewhere in the respective continent. Thats how I did it.

WOW germany works fine just reloaded my account and had a short round. I play on German Server Nazjatar name sk8stitch if u like to join me.

Ping is around 350 ms from Suzhou.

So far i never got banned in the past but i dont played my europe account a lo.
If you like we can do the recruit a friend thing it gives both of us triple XP !!!

I tried now many times for all kinds of servers (Europe, China, private, Taiwan, US). But no chance. So I guess it is the ****ing Hotel or the local provider or the local government which block my ports.

This must be connected to the area, because last year in Shanghai I was still able to play.

I will not be able to play with you, Stitch, sorry.
