As it stands at 4:17am only servers 1,2,3,5 and 10 seem to be up at the moment... which means I still can't get to my chars.

Thankfully though no apparent problems with the ID stuff or patching.

Ah.. did have a couple of chars on servers currently open. It seems that they've given (in the mail) every char a new minipet as a sort of 'thank you for coming back / waiting for so damn long and going through so much hassle to play again..

I can't find the page of "Realms Statuts" on the new WoW official site ?
And BTW, anyone know when the armory will be back ?

Well.. some good news at any rate. The state saving seemed to work nicely.. everything in the mail box still with 35 days left to claim it. Everything that was on the auction house seems to have been returned via mail leaving the auction house spookily bare.

Managed to check through various characters etc but got disconnected after 3hours and now can't get back in. I can log in ok (albeit slowly), but then it keeps throwing me to the select realm page, and then disconnects after I have chosen a realm. Will try again later and just assume they have hit an unexpected peak as everyone tries to check on their characters (8am at the moment)

From looking at the realm lists however, I do still seem to be missing a few characters. (from the old server 2)

As for the 'realm status' page, yeah.. either they messed up their link (on the support page of warcraftchina.com) http://www.warcraftchina.com/serverstatus or they haven't got round to doing/finishing that yet...

I just was ingame. With the chinese client. So far it looks, everything is OK. Nothing is missing, all auction items are in the letterbox. And my sweet little shadow dwarf looks nice as before :-)

Just scanned the auctionhouse. 828 items inside. LOL

But play with a chinese client is absolutly no alternative for me. It drives me crazy. Always push wrong buttons, and with this installed bigfoot addon I become mad.

so no way to play it with an en/us client?

are there any other solutions besides getting chinese wow?

i could live with it but id much rather prefer it in english.

Please don't push so much. You can believe, that many people do their best to get it running. You will see a announcement if it's done.

people, the servers have just opend a couple of hours and we are still running Beta.
Give them guys a break, I know Bol, Alex, Lee, Eddy and many others (sorry if I didnt mention your names personaly) have been trying for hours to find a solution.
There will be a solution, so in the mean time install your chinese wow, check your character and do some stuff in chinese

I'm so happy I patched my 1.2 chinese client to 3.0 before the service went down.

what do we need in order to run this installer and why isnt mine working? i just get the "not a valid Win32 application" error.

Playing with a chinese version sucks, that is my own opinion, because it takes me to long to know what is what.

well you see, actualy i should be fluent in chinese.

but lazy me, after been married to a chinese for over 12 years, i still cant realy read and write chinese.

We came back to China in 2006, I started to work here in Yunnan and thought, oh no problemo, i can do it. hehe, how wrong i was. it does take time and constant studying.

Yeah, playing with a Chinese client is really tough - but I've been using the Chinese client for the last 4 years and am somewhat used to recognising what everything is.

The hardest parts are trying to remember drop down menu options (e.g. reset instance, trade with player, inspect) etc. However for those that have problems here, simple macros are a great help.

As for recognising spells and abilities quickly - again.. macros. Rename them to the English (or french equivalent) and voila.

Thankfully these days (unlike a few years ago) its quite easy to use the auction house. Shift+clicking on any item will put that items name into the search bar. Also, you get fairly used to which sections you check regularly.

The other complication however, is when an alert window pops up.. I still (after 4 years) can't quickly distinguish whether it is someone wanting to duel, someone inviting me to a raid, etc etc.

Addons are a saviour though. Auctioneer (Yay.. partial English interface for AH), Lightheaded (for questing help in English), TitanPanel, Bartender, XPerl, EnhTooltip... Most of the time I grab the item ID from the tooltips and plug that into wowhead or thotbot if I really need to check out an item.

However, with the addons (and a Chinese client) you'll need to alter all the localisation files that come with the addons.. else they will all be in Chinese like your client. I just rename all the zhCN.lua localisation files to zhCN2.lua and then copy the english one and rename that to zhCN. Seems to be the easiest way.

It does take some getting used to.. but (especially when a patch dramatically alters the UI in some way) but you get used to it. It is still a lot harder and makes you a fair bit slower to do anything.
