Hello guys!

I just thought i'd write a quick post to introduce myself Smile

I'm a 22 year old lad who in the real world goes by the name of Simon.
I live in Denmark and have for the past years been playing world of warcraft on the European servers (The Maelstrom)

I've been played a hunter, paladin, druid and priest to level 70.
My retridin was my main char as i fought Illidan.

Now I'm playing a lvl 80 female night elf Death knight who, before I went to china, was the Main tank of the end-game guild I was in. Her name is Yashodara.

Anyway - Two years ago i got accepted at a danish university with Chinese as my major and now is about the time that I feel competent enough to start playing on the chinese servers (If I ever get an account created).
Hopefully this'll make learning Chinese a fun experience and give me the upper hand on my non-gaming classmates.

Looking forward to making your aquaintances!
Advice of any sort will be most welcome!

Simon Smile

First of all welcome Very Happy.
I can tell you right away that playing WoW in Chinese really does help you learn chinese. I've spent hours sitting at my PC playing WoW with a dictionary next to me and every time I didn't know a sign I looked it up. It takes a lot of effort but it really helped me out a lot since the signs i learned through WoW are also helpfull in every day life.
Finally sitting in vent or TS with 24 other chinese and trying to understand everything and to communicate with them is fun and helps you learn chinese aswell.
That's just my experience of learning Chinese through WoW and what you're doing is going to give you an advantage for sure.
I mean what could be better? Combining a learning experience with something you love doing in your free time. Couldn't be better.
I don't think that theres much to get used to in terms of WoW but I'll bet that you'll see that Chinese are more hard-core oriented.
They put way more effort into WoW compared to the people in Europe. For example my guild spent 7 days a week when Naxx first came out in Vanilla from 18:00-01:00 every day just to be the fastest guild in China that drops Kel'Thuzad. In the end they were the 3rd guild I think. Too bad that on that day I was afk Razz.
That were my 2 cents.
Hope this wall of text helps in some way Very Happy

First of all hi and welcome to our growing foreign community !

As Kaz said, if you want to improve your chinese skills, there is no better place than WoWchina Newcomer! Simon / Yashodara Bounce
I quitted WoW in March, and now all I want to do is to play again, I just miss it, and all my guildmates...and everything.
I started playing WoW in 2005, 1 year after I arrived in China, and at that time I couldn't read a single Chinese caracter. Now, after 4 years of experience on Chinese realms, I became main Priest of my guild and I can RL sometimes on Sunday afternoon if I'm in the mood. And yeah, the dictionnary is the key to victory on WoWChina Very Happy

Now I have to wait till September to go back to China, and I hope it's gonna be quick !!!
