Skeleton.exe problem _

My WoW was working properly before, today however skeleton.exe doesnt launch wow.exe. When I start the simple launcher it just keeps hanging there and is non-responsive.. Anyone else had the same issue and/or knows the solution for this?

Still working here, basically I'd try with a new skeleton exe. Just unzip and do not touch it cause the setting is good by default, just launch.

Heya nikitoss can you start the game with the original wow.exe and copy past the entire error log?

Once I had the same problem and it was a keylogger coming from wow curse flash advertisement. If you have the same problem it will be easy to detect with the error log.

here bol. Any help will be greatly appreciated. The problem started after my antivirus had a full update. I added all possible exceptions to firewall and antivirus but still my launcher keeps on hanging.

Nikitoss your error log seems normal. Did you try to launch the game with either your antivirus or firewall disabled? You should try it perhaps the problem is still coming from this. Be sure that your wow.exe has permissions to connect on the net.

One more question do you use an internet sercurity solution who include antivirus and firewall? Or you use two different programs?

I have an antivirus on, but i keep my firewall turned off. Windows Firewall is very annoying in my opinion.

Did eventually your antivirus put a .dll file in quarantaine or something after you updated it?

im checking my quarantine, but there is no sign of any wow files in there. did i have to update my root files to 3.2.2? because CN wow is constantly trying to force me to patch up.

Look for a file "Normaliz.dll" in C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32 directory, can you find it?

No update needed for 3.2.2

One more thing, try to delete the /Cache folder before you start the game and be sure 英文语音 is checked in your skeleton.exe

Ok there's big chances it's this. So first watch if it's in quarantine, if it is restaure it.

Otherwise :

1. go get the file there http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?normaliz

2. copy it into c:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32

3. restart your system and see if it works.

If all this doesn't work you can try to restaure your system to a date anterior to your antivirus update and try a new antivirus. I recommand you the free "avast"

Keep me informed of the result.

So the problem is still there even after a system restaure(start menu->accessories-> System tools)? or you haven't done it yet?

Last resort will be a fresh install. If you have both client you can try to do this https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/technical-support-f2/solved-log-on-netease-servers-with-us-client-t1199.htm#10966

Well looks weird. You can still try some stuff like uninstalling your antivirus and try to lauch the game. Would clear doubts about the antivir being the cause.

Niki I've been thinking about something. Copy your skeleton.exe into your chinese wow and execute it. Does your Chinese wow start or it crashes too?

If the game start in chinese It means some files in your english client have been corrupted. After a fresh install it should be working again.

I guess you already tried to redownload the skeleton.exe on the web right?

Have you tried to uninstall your antivirus and start the game?
Ofc it wouldn't be a definitive solution but if we could find the cause, it would be easy to find the way to fix it.

but paid antivirus = license key. You won't have to repay if you desinstall it. Just be sure to have your CDs, registration infos and license key.

Prolly must be a program preventing the file to execute. Did you try to enter the skeleton.exe in the exceptions of your antivirus? Or turn off real-time protection before you execute the file?

yeah i tried that. Im thinking some other program is preventing it to execute. Is there any way to see applications acting on the process?

I think you can look for error report details, then again ask for details, need to click two blue links, then it will list you 2 files. Try to copy paste the one who finish with .txt(should look like this C:\DOCUME~1\MAINTE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER0770.dir00\appcompat.txt)

Open it and post the content. Perhaps there's something interesting in.

Skeleton.exe problem _
  Skeleton.exe problem I_icon_minitimeTue 3 Nov 2009 - 15:32  #
Well, gonna be hard to find something out of this lol. You could try to open the taskmanager(CTRL+ALT+DEL) and go into processus and kill as much processus as you can before having a automatic system restart. Try to kill the process related with your antivirus etc. No worries this doesn't delete anything.

after killing a few process try to start the game with skeleton.exe and see if it works better.

SOLVED. After reading readme in the simple launcher folder i realized they wrote that skeleton doesnt work properly with Rising Antivirus, which I had. So i ended up creating installer for my Rising and deleteting it off my system. I then downloaded Avast and now everything works perfectly fine. Thanks for all the help Bolomas.

That's not true actually, I use rising and the lan center I play at uses it as well, and I've never had any problems with Skeleton.exe and rising. My only guess it that you somehow got managed to get it on a blacklist for rising, I know some of my other anti viruses go nuts when I use skeleton.

My Rising 2008 had no problems with this but as soon as it updated to 2009 all the problems started. This was definitely rising's fault.

I played wow using Skelleton on Wednesday. Everything was fine. Yesterday I didnt even cut on my pc, cause I was too busy at work.
Today I cut on my pc, and it updated my Antivirus Program. I use AVIRA Antivir. I then wanted to start playing wow, but when I clicked on the Skelleton.Exe I got an alert from my AV, stating that its a troyan:
TR/PWS.62464.16
Didn't install anything latetly so can only assume it has to do with the updated version of my AV.
I tried to download the skelleton new, but unfortunately the links here with zip versions dont work.
Does anyone post a link that is still availlable, with a zip file. (I dont have rar)
oh, does anyone else use AVIRA?
I tried an online scan from kaspersky, but their service is not available at the moment Sad

Check if you have a "make and installer option" in your antivirus. If you do, make the installer remove the antivirus and launch skeleton.exe without it. If it works ur antivirus is being a b*tch.

works again as it should Skeleton.exe problem Smiley-4

For some reason, the AV didn't download all new updates.
I had to manualy download the latest version on the Avirar website.
Now the skelleton.exe is no more troyan.
Bizzar that it did that in first place.

Thanks for your answer, nikitoss.
