Hello, i'm new to this forum, actually i just accidentally google "wow china" and just found out there's a wow in here, and i want to play it but i can't read chinese -.-

i've been reading the FAQ from this forum and understand about the payment however there's something that i still don't understand that i want to ask ( sorry english isn't my primary language too )

1. what is the version of WoWchina currently ?
2. i've got the US wow version up to 3.2.2a can i just change the realm and login server without actually finding the "chinese" wow application ?
3. i'm currently reside in Yichang, Hubei province, which area i'm (1-9)
4. it said i can buy the reload card at kiosk XD, sorry but anyone know what it's called in Chinese, every locals in here apparently unable to speak English at all :'( and my chinese skills still so-so, "叫什么 ?"
5. maybe this is kind of off topic, but could you tell me how to play Dota in china too , i've been trying to ask the locals they don't even know what is "dota" T_T

Bellow you can find a guide how to get an english client to work for Chinese World of Warcraft.
1) Current Version for Chinese WOW is 3.1.3 (10146)
2) you will have to reinstall your english wow and patch up to 3.1.3 or downgrade to 3.1.3 (downgrade is probably faster), once you have 3.1.3 follow bolo's guide below
3) sorry dont know for sure, but once you are set, you can choose between the differnt areas any time you want, create a toon and you will see if the selected server is playable from where you live
4) i will look for a pic of the recharge card, just print it out and show it to the vendor, then once you have bought one, keep it and every time you go and buy a new one show him the old card
5) sorry cant help you with that but i am sure others on this forum can


(I'll assume you use an english client and it was installed on C:\wow)

1. Patch your english Client up to 3.1.3
1.1 In C:\wow create a new folder. Call it Backup-3.1.3-enUS

2. In C:\wow\data make a copy of the folder enUS. Rename the copy enCN. Move the original folder C:\wow\data\enUS to C:\wow\Backup-3.1.3-enUS (the game won't work if both enUS and enCN are located in C:\wow\data)

3. In C:\wow\data\enCN. ALL the files name containing "enUS" must be renamed with "enCN" . ex. patch-enUS.mpq must be renamed patch-enCN.mpq.

4. open C:\wow\data\enCN\realmlist.wtf with a text editor. delete the content and copy/paste this : ( don't forget to save)

5. Download this file : http://www.filefront.com/14164105/Data.zip/
and extract it in C:\wow. Verify that C:\wow\data contains a file called patch-3.mpq, and C:\wow\data\enCN contains a file patch-enCN-3.mpq

6. Cut-paste all the files(not folders) you see in C:\wow to C:\wow\Backup-3.1.3-enUS

7. Download http://www.filefront.com/15012441/WOW%20CN.rar and extract it under C:\wow

8. Download http://www.filefront.com/14163759/SimpLauncher_3_1_3.rar/ and extract it in C:\wow. Launch the game with skeleton.exe, be sure to have the 英文语音 checked.

I hope it's easy enough to understand. If things don't work tell me what was the error message etc. But it should work

Beijing is CN2

for the card I can't find a pic at the moment but if you can say this or print it out and show the vendor he might get it that you want to buy the card:

Hello, and welcome to the foreign community at Chinese World of Warcraft.

Just a slight precision about the version : we are still on TBC. yeah we are still playing the pre-wotlk 3.1.3 version (Northrend isn't available, lv max 70 with wotlk talents).

Recently there have been signs saying wotlk should be available within 6 months (lets you time to lv a char to 70 ).

You'll have to downgrade to 3.0.1(delete /wow/data/patch.mpq and patch-2.mpq files, then start repair.exe) and repatch manually to 3.1.3. No worries if your client inculde the lichking expension you can still play on Chinese servers.

For the area most of the foreigners are located in shanghai
Cn1 realm 玛多兰 PVE Alliance/Horde
Cn1 realm 山丘之王 PVP Horde

When you log on these realms type "/join english" in the chat to get in touch with us.

If your ping isn't good when playing on Cn1 you might want to try another area, but I don't know where you can find other foreigners.

for the card write/print 来一张魔兽世界卡(lai yi zhang moshoushijie ka)(I'd like to buy one world of warcraft card) on a paper and show it to the seller. It costs 30RMB for 66 hours(30/600 card).

now only need to get a chinese ID card and the WoW card ( i'm in a small city in the area of my university there's no internet cafe that sells it, seems i have to go to the city ), hopefully in 1-2 days i can play at the CN1 PVP , thanks everyone

just be carefull with getting a chinese ID card. best choice would be from a good friend.
make sure you have an ID whose owner is over 18yrs old, because there will be a healthlock if the ID is under 18yrs.
also use the information on the ID to avoid complications when registering an account, eg. use the name and address mentioned on the card. DO NOT use your personal name.
concerning the wow recharge card, I don't think internetcafes sell them, at least they do not where I live in Kunming. They do have the possibility to charge your account online, so if you can't find a place to buy the cards, try out one of the internetcafes. they should only input your account name, your password should not be required.
I buy the cards at newspapershops. these newspapershops are in small cabins where they sale magazines and different recharging cards for telephones etc.

About the gamecards you can find them in some convenient stores (Family Mart), Newspaper stands those small telecom cards stand. If you live in an university area I'm pretty sure there s at least one place who sells them.

Edit : grilled lol and yeah, what muhan said about the id cards : DO NOT use your personal name. Use the one on the ID, and if possible ask for a good quality photocopy or scan of it : if one day your account get hacked locked etc, they will ask you for a scan of the ID.

Hi Liangchaoxin! I'm right down the road from you in Wuhan. CN5 has the best latency for me, but I often play on CN2 without any problems. Lag in CN1 flares up quite a bit for me.

That's a pity man, knowing Wuhan gives CN1 bad lags makes me nervious.. Guess I need to stay on the south coast.

oh CN1 lag from Wuhan area ? oh well, i'll try CN2 or CN5 then i guess. Still waiting Id card then starting my undead mage .

Yea it's a pain b/c I'd like to play with some of the people in here.

Meanwhile, I'm on the Warsong (战歌) server in CN2 if i can be of any help.

If you guys really can't play on CN1 because of the lag you should try to stick together on one server and create a sticky on this forum on where to find you (just pm our beloved webmaster Globuline). Like this people in the area of wuhan and beijing know where to find other english speakers.

People from beijing and north china always experienced bad lag on Shanghai servers, I guess that's destiny

Ive also been trying to figure that out for some time, what I came up with untill now is that they dont play Dota allstars here but some other version.

The map ( forgot what the name was ) has some kind of wooden castle walls and all "heroes" are ninja like humans which i never see in Warcraft before.

Dont know what they call it exactly but its some chinese version. The real dota allstars I've never seen before on Kalimdor server.

Me and 2 of my friends still play together on LAN sometime but we just play with AI maps.

i already enter the shenfenzheng then i think it's step 2, that ask for account name

according to previous step
"1) E-mail address (This will be your account name)"

then i assume the account name is my email right ? i try enter "xxx@yahoo.com" or only "xxx" but nothing works , although when i enter my full email adress with @yahoo.com it shows :
"您输入好像是战网通行证？请输入《魔兽世界》账号信息。"

if i enter without @yahoo.com it shows :
"账号不存在"

can someone tell me what went wrong

Sorry Fiction i try 2 server in Channel 2, 1 is Hellscream i think ( the same server as the guy who lend me his Id Card ) and Warsong ( yours ) , both got latency 300-500. Yet somehow in CN1 - 山丘之王 i got 70-90 latency . So i guess i'll play at CN1 - 山丘之王
