Hey guys,

I'm really happy that I've found a foreign wow players community here in China.

Long story short, my name is Tal, I'm from Israel and I'm currently living in Chengdu (Sichuan province). I've played wow since early TBC till Wotlk and then moved to China.

I'd like to start playing again but I feel a bit confused by the sea of information.
p.s. I've read the FAQ and browsed the forums prior to posting this so excuse me if I ask something that has been asked already (I'm pretty senile).

1. Are you guys on Twow or Cwow? (the majority)
2. Should I expect latency issues playing on Twow / do I need a vpn to play it?
3. Should I expect latency issues playing on Shanghai area servers? (seems like most of you are there, if I'm not mistaken).
4. (A bit noob'ish of me to ask but..)If you guys are using English clients do you see everything in-game in English? e.g. items people link, auction house, quest text etc...
5. Is it true that Wotlk has just been released in Cwow? How about Twow?
6. Anyone regularly playing from a 网吧's ? If so what's the cost there (I'm a bit wangbaphobic).
7. Last but not least, is there anyone playing wow and living in Chengdu? could be cool to meet for a beer or two or three or ten ^_^

Sorry for the wall of text, I'm pretty anxious to start playing again.

Cheers,
Tal

Well, to answer your first question
alot of people moved from CWoW to TWoW a while back due to government issues, but now WOTLK is finally arriving in CWoW so people may start to migrate back.

Hello and welcome to our jolly community! The more the better Smile!

It seems that most people on the forum that migrated to TwoW, do play with a VPN. See this thread.

-CWoW

I don't think you will have much trouble maybe during peak time. Around 20:00-22:00 o'clock.

4.Yes we are using a modified client to play Chinese WoW in english. Everything is in english.. except the chinese names that is. Not noobish at all btw.

5.Wotlk has finally arrived in China, after 2 years. Anything relayed to skull's and bones were removed, replaced by another texture made by chinese government. This is an example

Taiwan, unlike Mainland (Thanks to Lee for the correction!), is much more open. They had Wotlk maybe a few days/weeks after launch in the U.S

6.I've been to some wangba's where it costs 10 Yuan for 2 hours, but in shanghai. Playing in a Wangba might be dangerous, with keyloggers( I wasn't aware of any anti-virus last time==)

Welcome again! Very Happy

EDIT: Congrats on Diamond league once again Sean bounce bounce

I think most questions have been answered with Uru,s comments.

You are welcome to either join on the taiwan server or on the Chinese Server. WOTLK will hit on the 31st and i believe some guys might play back in China due to the ping / latency issues.

Like me i have on both an Account and switch between TWOW and CWOW.

See you maybe in game.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys worship

I assume that Twow will advance to cataclysm in a few months and in that case I'll rather play Wotlk for a while.

I think that Cwow will be my choice since I really want to play with decent latency (when I played back home it used to be around 150-250 which isnt that good tbh).

Any recommended Chinese PVP server?

I'm clueless about the servers here but I'd love to find a balanced (more or less) with good pve progress.

The deal is, even on PVP servers, PVE is much more popular. So I Think it'll suit you just fine;).

I'd recommend Maduolan, home of the cow eaters, CN1 马多栏 alliance side. CE is still active so that's awesome! Also easy honor btw;). (Horde ratio on that server is mind boggling)

Or you could always roll horde there and understand what "being the underdog" means.

oops ^_^

Ive always been on the alliance side and I was hoping to get a chance to play a belf paladin (just for the racial), but if you guys are on the alliance side Ill take a human again.

Well, I guess I'll see you guys soon, just need to buy a decent computer cause this one can barely run media player alien

Well, there is a Horde foreigner guild on Maduolan too, run by WoWlaowai. It's known as Expatriate, but if I remember correctly, it's not as active as CE.

Just for info, Alliance to Horde ratio there is 1:0.02 ^^. You'll just be a bit lonely if you roll horde Laughing

oh my god, 1:0.02... that's just sad.

Is there any website with realms info? (population, ratio etc).

How about arena on Cwow?

Here you go! (Thanks to zhenshibendan). It's in chinese.. there was an english version before but i can't seem to find it Sad.

Well, by the time you manage to join us and create an account and such, I think Woltk will be released.. so not much of a problem. But right now, there are lots of people in Brutal Gladiator gear, even at a low arena ranking ==.

Well, for PVE,CN10 Barrenland 贫瘠之地 is a good choice.Alliance to Horde ratio is 1:0.97.

But for PVE,CN10 Doomwalker is recommanded.it has the largest population(over 5000).Alliance to Horde ratio is 1:0.5.So it'll be excited to be on horde side.

Weird...

Last time I checked servers population on http://db.178.com/wow/summary/slist.php?d=1
most of them were empty (100-500 players... max 1000).

Now it seems that they are pretty populated (lots around 5-7k players, even 10k players).

I really hope more players come back. Leveling a warrior atm (I'm at lvl 48), and it's been impossible to find groups for instances.

Are you looking on the LFG channel/Trade channel? Groups for instances at "lower" levels are hard to find and it's most likely level 70 players bringing their toons or something Neutral Neutral

Which servers have a good pve reputation? I live in Hangzhou so I guess a Shanghai area server would be best. Or just a list of the high populated alliance servers might even do. I prefer alliance, hehe. I suck as leveling horde. Just want to start playing catch up asap.

Also... does anyone know which patch wow.cn will get? Is it going to be all? Or will they force you to relive T7, then T8, then T9...........

I had hoped to just change the realmlist.wtf of my wow.taiwan like I do with wow.us

Hey Igniter! We live in hangzhou too! but we're playing on a different realm (CN1 - Shadow Council-i forgot the chinese characters!) We chose this realm as most of our chinese colleagues who can speak good english play in it.. There are currently 5 of us foreigners playing there..

We all rolled HORDE though as ALLIANCE is a bit of an underdog in Shadow Council..

Just in case you're interested.. Smile

I'm looking for a server, one with competition in pve mainly. Is Shadow council fairly populated compared to other servers?

I can do my own digging if no one knows really, but as for server location and ping, any shanghai server should be the quickest? I noticed two sub forums with shanghai in it so...

Though a PVP server, PVE is also popular in Shadow Council. As for the population, please check out this site:

http://db.178.com/wow/summary/server.php?s=%E6%9A%97%E5%BD%B1%E8%AE%AE%E4%BC%9A

It's in chinese though but it has pictures and bar graphs regarding the population of the realm..

hope this helps.. Smile
