Can you start wow and check your patch number? Maybe your virusscanner don't let skeleton start!

i fix'd it by clicking on the normal launcher lol. Better try to move to TWoW quickly

I know this is off-topic, but i can't
seem to find the answer (or i'm just lazy and didn't look elsewhere), but when i tried to install the chinese tbc version of wow, it consistently gives me a directx error, and it won't continue to install.
i don't have any issues when installing the US version of wow, but it only appears with the chinese version of wow.
any solutions?

maybe get the newest version of directx? Or play the game in English only

Not new here, was here several years ago but cant remember my old username.

Anyway, I've been trying to get this to work but I keep getting an error message when trying to login.

"Unable to verify game version. This may be caused by corruption or interference by another program"

The version number is 3.1.3 (10146) in the bottom corner of the login screen after I use skeleton, Ive updated the realmlist also.

The only step in the guide I had issues with was the data.zip file. It was supposed to contain two .mpqs but there was nothing but an art folder in it. I searched the net for the two MPQ's and found them, and put them in the folders but it still does not work.

Can anyone post the 2 mpqs that were supposed to be in the data.zip?

you should try again, I downloaded data.zip and it contains the two mpq as intended.

thanks, its working fine now. Kinda weird, I downloaded it 3 times last night In Chrome it was downloading a different file. I used IE today and and it downloaded the correct one.

Hi there guys, i used to be a member here & played Chinese WoW in English thanks to your guides.

I was interested in playing again today and realised i would need to patch my acocunt. I am still on patch 3.0.5 and have had difficulty finding out how to patch from this specific point as all the common links were 3.0.3 then 3.0.8

I remember that there was some controversy regarding this patch, what i'm wondering is if there is any way i can possibly get updated & playing from this patch?

If you go to the other guide ( how to play taiwan ) there is a link to a website with all the manual patch files.

Tommy if I remember right for 3.0.5 we were using the chinese launcher with an english 3.0.3 (not sure anymore though)

So either restore the 3.0.3 files, or if you don't know what I'm talking about, delete the file wow/data/patch.mpq and run a repair, this way it will reset your client to 3.0.1 and you'll be able to patch from there.

Mican, it means that you must upgrade your client to the version 3.1.3.

Woltk will be available in 6 days on chinese servers. To log in you'll need a wotlk client patched up to the version 3.2.2

On another topic, for those who use a modified foreign client to log on chinese server, you'll need to restore it to it's original state if you want to upgrade to version 3.2.2.
If you didn't backup it properly, i'd suggest you to be ready to reinstall/patch it from scratch. From patch 3.2.2 the forum will provide an utility that will automaticaly modify your client for chinese realms, and it'll work for any client languages. It'll also allow you to restore your client to it's initial state when upgrades are needed.

the client download from the link u posted offers say that from nothing to 3.0.1 its only 7 Gigs, is that WoW, TBC and WOTLK?
And the patch we would use is 3.x.x to 3.2.0 Patcher? i cnat seem to find the patch for 3.2.2 on your site

I think the 7gb installer let you choose between a wow/tbc/wotlk install. Keep in mind it's the installation files, that's why it's only 7gb.

For patch 3.2.2, you can find it at http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors_%28old_patches%29 (didn't see this page yesterday)

keep in mind those patch are getting old and might be unavailable in a non so far futur (let's say by the time cataclysm is released in China). So make sure to keep them on your computer just in case a reinstall is needed.

I've a question once again, bolomas.

After trying to download the 7gb installer from different sources, they all turned out to be too slow, therefore I tried the official installer from the Blizzard website. It seems like the official installer now installs straight to patch 3.2.0.10192.



I'm still in the middle of downloading this installer. Should I continue? If so, I'm assuming I'd proceed after it's done by manually patching it to 3.2.2.

If i remember correctly, one chinese ID = one battlenet account.

one battlenet account= several WoW accounts.

So you could make one bnet account, and then make several WoW accounts. And yes, they can be logged on at the same time.

EDIT: USE AN ID CARD THAT IS OVER 18 YEARS OLD! EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

So we no longer have to jump through all the hoops at the start of this thread ? Are there any other files I can have prepared besides having WoW patched to 3.2.2 ? I noticed a 3.2.2a patch (probably a hotfix?) any chance that one will be used ?

Yeah, the utility is a batch file that will backup, copy, rename everything for you. No need to get the chinese client installed on your computer then. Only downside is that you'll have to wait for it to be uploaded each time wow China is moving to a new patch caus the package must contain 3 files coming from an up-to-date chinese client.

I patched my client to 3.2.2a, maybe either 3.2.2 and 3.2.2a will work, maybe not. We have to wait tomorrow to know that.

PS : if one of the regular members of this forum could upload the following Chinese client 3.2.2 files : Wow.exe, Launcher.exe, battle.net.dll ; that would be sweet caus I need them for the new autopatcher and I can't upgrade my chinese client before the end of the week.

Right now, the chinese patch download includs only several "part" files and no updater.exe. So the update of the chinese client is impossible.
It includs:
installer tome 2.mpq.part
installer tome 3.mpq.part
installer tome 4.mpq.part
installer tome.part
Installer.mfil
Installer.tor
movies.mpq.part
ProductDefs.xml

But I will check this evening/night again and try to update my chinese client. Otherwise I check again tmrw lunchtime.

The 3.2.2 had 2 versions in Europe. First one was 3.2.2 10482. Second one was 3.2.2 10505.

As soon as someone update successful a chinese client, please share the version number here in the forum.

I just extracted from with a MPQ editor a WOW.exe which has the version number 3.2.2 12484.

So the autopatcher is all done, but untested yet. The game start just fine but I get the wrong version message caus chinese realm aren't updated yet.

To use it :

1. Patch your foreign client to 3.2.2(.a)

3. extract http://wow-in-chinese.jfs-web.ch/patch/TOwowCN3.2.2.12484.rar into your wow folder

4. execute TOwowCN3.2.2.12484.bat

5. on first menu select 1 to patch your client or 2 to undo the patch.

on second menu select the language of your client.

6. Start the game with skeleton.exe. that's all.

Just to confirm, we no longer need to make a backup copy of WoW for future updates with this method ?

Cappy I can't comfirm if 3.2.2 or 3.2.2.a will work. You have to try it tomorrow once the servers are online again. I suspect both versions will work anyway.

And yes you don't need to backup your client. The tool will create the necessary backup files, and you only have to use the restore option to undo the patch.

why the 2 MPQ files have now the number 9?They are also created on August 13th. From where you got them? We played for more then a year with additional MPQ files with number 3. You think they will work?

Alex I named them 9, like this if a patch somehow add a new patchX.mpq there's no risk that the autopatcher erase them.

A few notes, client modifications are still needed but you don't need skeleton.exe anymore. I'm gonna remove it from the autopatcher in the futur.

I can't guarantee 100% everything is working caus sadly I kinda forgot my chinese account password, or I kept the wrong matrix card lol. But anyway, after using the autopatcher and starting the game with wow.exe I'm able to get to the security code screen. So I think it works.

PS : I'm using the version 3.2.2.a
