| | Fri 8 Oct 2010 - 10:33 # | Hey hey hey, After the new modifications made to the normal US 3.2.2a client, it seems my client is experiencing errors when I try to access the realmlist on the login screen or when I try to change server. Here's the error in "text" form or whatever you call it. - Code:

I'm pretty sure everything is correct, having used Bolo's batch nothing can go wrong right? Maybe the servers are just busy at night (character screen slow to load =.= they must be too epic ) and about the fireball thing.. lots of fire mages must have grieved you in pvp or even your friends lol (critter kill!)
| | | Sat 9 Oct 2010 - 12:01 # | You always get this error? If not it can happen that setimes wow exe crashes. Special on older systems due to memory problems. | | |
| | | Sat 9 Oct 2010 - 14:46 # | I've just noticed something interesting concerning this crash: the "Success" box, after having entered your account info, hangs for quite a long time and doesn't seem to respond at all. If I press "Cancel" (still on the "Success" box), the game will automatically give/ propose a server to play on, according to whether I am a PvPer/RPer. It is then, that when I try to change server (Click on "View Realmlist") and click on server name that the game crashes. | | |
| | | Sat 9 Oct 2010 - 14:53 # | Reinstall if it persist. I know it's hard to believe but it isn't the batch file that cause it. A batch file just contain commands saying copy this rename that, not complex enough to mess into a binary file. Also just know I don't think there's a single person on this forum that can or will do the effort to say what is going on, by looking at your 700 lines wow error report.
How does the game crash? blue screen? Screen turns in many colors? Computer freeze? Return to desktop? Message box? saying what? That would be more helpful informations.

Computer in itself is alright, it is the game that freezes, closes, and opens the WoW Error Report (with the Send this report to Blizzard, etc.) I'll try to upload a screenshot.
| | | Sat 9 Oct 2010 - 16:37 # | Try to reinstall the game. If it persist maybe do a virus scan. Once I had a malware and my game would crash on login screen untill I removed it. | | |

and about the fireball thing.. lots of fire mages must have grieved you in pvp or even your friends lol (critter kill!) No, actually. That was my first trial period on when I started the game. I uninstalled then tried it on this computer. Everything worked like a charm. The fireball thing only persisted for like 1 hour because I got sick of it and tried it on this computer after lmao.

Happens sometimes to me too with a modified German client. Sometimes after loging in, the "success box" will show up and stay like that for a long time, like 2-3 minutes. When I cancel it, I get to choose a server, then I choose one and the game crashes, where I end up with the error box that you can send to Blizzard. Funy thing is that it doesn't happen everytime. In general it takes much longer to log in to the game as before on Maduolan, even on different computers. Might be Netease's Servers that have a problem Since I don't use a chinese client and my wife is not playing at the moment, I would have to check to see if this happens with a chinese client aswell.
| | Gast Guest | Sun 10 Oct 2010 - 6:03 # | If it hangs up at the successed login screen and get the crash after this, you should stop downloading porn movies via torrent/usenet and stop net-internal ftp file transfers of cracked copied games to your ps3. Then it works. WOW is not multitasking able. Believe me. | | |

Didn't say that in Uru's error message.
Maybe there are ppl here who are actualy looking for a solution for their problem. I only use my PC at home to play World of Warcraft, don't even go to the internet with it. I have 2 other machines to do that. I don't check emails I dont put ukeys in it etc. so I wonder how that anything could get on there, unless its through the wow client. I'm not saying it has to do with the modified fiels, I was just wondering what was wrong and dont give me that dont download pron quote... I have WOW CDs and upgraded the client through the wow launcher and then applied the modified files. My wow pc is scanned on a weekly basis with antivirus, antispywere etc. once every 2 weeks I use the Kaspersky online scanner. If there were something on that PC it would show up. Of course there are allways ways of viruses or malware to hide on your system and you never can be 100% sure. In the beginning I thought it might be my hardware that caused the problem, maybe graphic card, since the PC is allready a couple of yrs old. But when another person mentioned a very similar or maybe the same problem I though well maybe something else is the cause for this. Btw runing Windows XP professional with that PC. So, maybe we can keep the topic a bit more serious for those who want to find a solution.

| | | Mon 11 Oct 2010 - 13:31 # | Am running Vista and WoW in Windowed Mode. Interestingly though, just like Muhan said, the game sometimes works perfectly, despite long Success screen. Let's say I close it, open it up again and BAM!, very long success screen, long time to show characters..screw this and let's close this one again. Open up one more time? Takes me to "Choose the type of realm", with the box just above saying development. (Screenshot shows all) EDIT: Found a Blue Post on official Blizzard forums concerning this error (132). Hope it works. | | |

Since the game doesn't crash all the time and only when I get tired of waiting it to connect to the realm, I guess there might be a problem of communication between the computer and Netease's server. It takes a long time so maybe because interrupting the process might cause the game to crash. I also played on TW server with the same PC and it never has happend there so far. That's why I highly doubt that it has to do with the hardware of the PC. Up to now I didn't have time to check with my wife's chinese client, on her Laptop, but that would at least show me if there is a problem with the PC or because of it taking so long to connect to the servers of Netease.
Anyway thanks for the link.

This Laptop has no connection to my PC where I noticed the problem in first place. Since it doesnt, or up to now hasn't happend, when connecting to TW server, using a different WOW client of course, I get the feeling that it mostlikely has to do with Netease servers. If anyone else, using a modified or chinese client has experienced similar problems, eg. after login in the game and waiting for the connection to the realm and the aborting the process and then the game crashes, please mention it here. As soon as I have time to do some tests with the chinese client I will let you know the results
EDIT: I just looked at the error code of Uru and the one I just got before
ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Maybe just coincidence on 3 different systems, one using Vista and two using Windows XP.
| | | Mon 11 Oct 2010 - 16:47 # | Let's just come to the mutual agreement that computers do retarded things. One time my firewall mistook WoW as a shellcode injection. Thank dog I reconfigured it so it allows it. | | |

It would be good to know if others have had the same problem. Maybe they could try to see, if after login in and before connecting to the realm to abort the process and see if the game crashes, if there are more ppl where that happens we should look into it.

Muhan, according to Blizz, it seems error is caused by a conflict between RAM and PC (possibly..). I am going to ask some chinese players about this problem ASAP.

In the beginning I thought it might be some hardware problem or wrong settings, but the game also crashed on my 1 year old Laptop with 3GB RAM.
It only happens when using the modified wow client to play on CN servers. Not saying it's the modification that causes this problem. Therefor I will do the testing with a chinese client a bit later on.
Further it doesn't happen, at least not until now, with a german wow client connecting to TW servers.
So my conclusion is, it should be either a problem with the communication between PC and Netease server or with the wow client.

Just tried 5 times with the foreign client and everytime it crahes when I abort before the connection to the realm.
I also did some testing with my wife's Laptop, which has a chinese client on it and is 5 yrs old. Tried several times and it didnt crash. If I have the will and time to do a fresh installation I will do it. But first I will try out a chinese client on my PC and Laptop to see if the game crashes, so I know for sure its not my PC or Laptop that has a problem. As mentioned before maybe some of the others could try and abort before the computer connects to the realm and see if the game crashes, would help me save the time for a reinstallation of the game, not even knowing if it would continue being a problem or not.
| | | Mon 11 Oct 2010 - 18:10 # | No crash for me. Guys why you don't reinstall? In the end that's the only thing you can do to solve the problem anyway.
Also watch in the error log if there's some files located in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\temp that launch with the game. Had a keylogger that crashed my game once and was coming from this folder.

I highly doubt it is some kind of malware, because it's happening on 3 different computers that are not connected to each other in any way. If there was any malware, then I think it would also creat the same problem when I connect to TW server, where it doesnt happen. So, it must be the wow client which is messed up, at least that is the only reason for me to reinstall. Cause I know it's going to take a lot of time

Sure we all have downloaded pron on the same website and catched the same virus/malware and/or our wow client is messed up and/or we have problems with our hardware and/or with our system settings.
Maybe not everyone has read this and also not everyone has aborted the process before connecting to the realm on the starting screen. So maybe even more have this problem.
Right before WOTLK came to China I downloaded WOTLK from the official EU website and let it patch to 3.2 via game, I didn't download the patches manualy. I then downloaded the modification files mentioned from the guide on this webpage. It took about 3 days to download everything and seeing that I'm not the only one with the problem and saying oh go and reinstall is not realy a solution for me cause it is time consuming. I could do it on the Laptop which I use for work, but I can only download during the night, cause during the day I need to work with the Laptop, meaning it will even take longer. I could do it with my PC, the downloading would be one part, but setting up my UI will take time aswell, maybe another 2 hours. In the end I'm not even sure if it would saulve the problem and then it would have been wasted time.
As mentioned before, this error happens on the login screen, when aborting the process of connection to the realm. If I dont abort the process, the game does not crash, it works fine once loged in. Thing is it can take a long time to log into the game.
It has not happend when connecting to TW server so far, using the same computer. It has not happend with a chinese client so far, using the same computer. So far it happens to 3 people using foreign clients, so the chance that it is the same virus/malware on different computers is very small, further the chance of Hardware problems or wrong settings is also small since we are talking of at least 4 different computers running Windows XP or Vista.
If more ppl could tell us that this error does not or does happen to them, it would realy help.
I noticed that it happens to me, when the process takes a long time. Mostly it was after 6pm, during peak hours.
As mentioned in my posts above, I am not saying it's the modified files that cause the problem, I rather think it is a communication problem with a foreign client with the servers of Netease. If this is the case there will not realy be any solution imo.

Can't really guarantee the files of the Chinese client are 100% compatible with the English one. Try to test it with skeleton.exe Maybe also try to rename patch-9.mpq and patch-enCN-9.mpq with the number 3 instead, but I doubt it comes from this.
| | | Tue 12 Oct 2010 - 13:11 # | Don't worry Bolo, the cause isn't modifications or anything like that. According to Blizzard (Check link to blue post), this also happens "frequently" after patch updates,etc.. on EU and US servers. - Blizzard wrote:
- Basically, this is an error that occurred while accessing data that caused the World of Warcraft to cease functioning correctly.
While the most common cause can indeed be system memory (RAM) related, this is not always the case. So could be: 1- Error accessing Character data from the Netease servers themselves, emphasized by the fact that we are using a client that "isn't" suppose to exist in China 2- Our Ram sucks. Unlikely, in Muhan's case since he's tried on 3 different computers..unless all 3 RAM's suck. (I just updated to new computer..vista.. Please don't tell me the RAM sucks ) The other examples mentioned don't cover our special case, so I am assuming this is it. I will use the U.S client I put aside, modify, and see the outcome, after modifications. A lot of technical forums encourage clearing the cache and interface though. Pffffft. EDIT: Just checked the chinese official forums. Seems some players have this problem, but the list of solutions provided are the same as the one given by Mods on U.S forums.

Bolo, as mentioned several times in my posts above, I don't think the modification is the problem. I realy think it's a problem of communication between the client and the server (Netease). I'm no computer specialist, so my expressions might not be so clear, but I would say that what Uru just posted would most likely be the reason for our problem: "Error accessing Character data from the Netease servers themselves, emphasized by the fact that we are using a client that "isn't" suppose to exist in China" Thanks to your modificaton we are able to play with a foreign clients and I realy would rather install 10 new wow client than playing with a chinese client.
| | | Tue 12 Oct 2010 - 14:01 # | Muhan, just in case the whole "fail to access data from Netease server" is wrong theory, do you mind running a Memory test on the computer you play WoW the most on? Maybe it really IS the RAM . (Am on a Mac and cannot check) >http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp >http://www.memtest86.com/ | | |

I didnt think it was a problem of the RAM, cause the game crashed also on my 1 yr old Laptop with sufficient memory. I think it has to do with the fact that we are using a foreign client and aborting an ongoing process. I only tested the chinese client a bit, but up to now no crashes so far.
| | | Wed 13 Oct 2010 - 5:13 # | Hey Muhan,
You always have this when you start wow?
I mean I also had this for 1 or 2 times in total but not a biggy for me.

If this is there for a long time and I don't wait for either it to connect to the realm or saying I got disconnected and push cancel I get the list to select a realm or region. When I want to choose the region and/or realm and confirm with ok, the game crashes. Basicaly it's no big deal. All I need to do is wait for the game to connect, so I can choose a character or wait for the game to disconnect. Since WOTLK has been online in China, the process of login in to the game is much longer than before. It's frustrating to wait 2 minutes and then the game tells you that you got disconected from the server, so you try again and wait and then cancel the process and the game crashes. I've been playing wow for over 4 1/2 yrs now and this error hasnt happend to me. Of course I had some crashes but not on a regular basis. After seeing that this happend to you aswell I thougth that maybe there is some problem and that we could find the reason for it. As mentioned, if I dont cancel the process the game does not crash, so no big deal. At least I hope it just stays like that and doesnt get worse or creat new problems
| | | Wed 13 Oct 2010 - 14:55 # | Sometimes, after having waiting around 5 mins in my case, they bring me either to the page where you have to select your realm type (See Screenshot in previous post), with "Development" appearing near the top. I choose my realm type and region (PVP CN1) which then brings me to realm list page, where only a few realms are listed. Then it crashes.
The whole "development" page problem, along with half-empty reamlist may as well be an error accessing the Netease servers. After all, they've got trouble maintaining the servers online already. Even though they can't actually detect this, to them it's like trying to unlock a door with the wrong key or a key that fits more or less, but is unstable in the unlocking process.
| | | Wed 13 Oct 2010 - 17:09 # | Alright. After messing around and doing more research, I've found a guide by blizzard mentioning this exact problem with suprisingly, clear answers. Am going to test it out soon as possible!
