I have recently found out of this website and I am willing to join you guys in Wow TW.

I have today, finished upgrading and downloading the US client according to your guides.However, I have a problem. I launched WOW but when I attempt to login, it says UNABLE TO CONNECT.

I have changed the realmlist in this format:
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch
set realmlistbn ""
set portal tw

Please help me resolve this problem.

1- Check if you have your firewall connected by any chance.
2- Check Modem

Have you tried logging in withouth the "1119/patch" in line 3? This might be the cause of your problem.

Are you using a proxy to connect? If not, get one. Without you will hardly be able to play on TW servers without big lag.
Maybe your internet connection is having issues?
"Unable to connect" shows that your version should be right, if not you would get another message. So I assume your connections is too slow or that the servers are having problems.
Maybe check the official TW wow website to see if there are problems, eg. servers are up etc.

Urubaen, none of your methods seem to work. When i change the realmlist without the "1119/pathc", i cant open the launcher.

And I'll try using the proxy.

I hope you have created also a Taiwan account : )

There are just a few people left on the TW server but if u want to play Cata its the best option.

If you dont mind playing WOTLK i suggest you join us on the Chinese server as therer are more people playing at the moment.

I just fired up my TW client which is Version 4.0.3.13329 in my launcher. And after update the latest tools i had no problem connecting.

My realmlist is:

@stitch: thanks - this test also shows me that the account my friend gave me is simply not working.

TW WoW is a good choice to play the same game as the rest of the world, Cata is coming and it will be new.

As stItCh mentioned, many (foreigners) have left TW servers for different reasons. They might go back, but it's not sure they will.

Just be aware that in the moment, most ppl of this community, the ones that speak english, are playing on Chinese servers.

So if you would like to play with other foreigners, then Chinese servers are your choice.

If you wana play alone with other Chinese and maybe a few foreigners, then try TW WoW.

The thing is, peanutarmy, that because of Wotlk's arrival in China, the majority of foreigners around here have gone back. Why? It's way more stable than playing on TW; no need for proxy, lag is almost non-existant.. and over 5 active guilds, spread throughout different servers and regions.
You get to choose Cataclysm, amazing content, amazing world, but far less foreigners than on China. I, personally, prefer to have more of a community than just content. Convert yourself to WoW China today!

Urubean thats a compelling argument, however there is another one: It is just a matter of time till china has cata too.

ehm, WOTLK went live on mainland Chinas servers just a couple of month ago.

WoW is an old game, you never know how long it will last.
And if Blizz stops the game in 2 or 3 years, for some reason, it might be that mainland China will never see Cataclysm.

So enjoy it as it lasts.

welcome to China, not everything is obvious to non-Chinese. The goverment takes actions and decisions most of the foreigners do not understand.
I can tell you, it's not about the Chinese players. Of course they know about Cata, also some or even many will go and play on TW servers.
So why does China not have Cataclysm, if everyone knows about it and mostlikely could play on TW servers?
Well, it's a secret, so don't tell anyone:

The responsibles in the govmt., the ones that can decide when or when not Cata goes live on mainland China, want to see big fat red envelopes.
If they don't get enough, well then Cata is not going to come. And they will find millions of reasons why the game can not be accepted, but of course they will never admit that it's about the red envelopes.


Chinese Govmt.:
"Ehm no, we can not have skelletons. Blizz Rep. you need to remove the skelletons, blablabla."

Blizz Rep.:
"What? Why no skelletons? WTF?".

Frustrated the Blizz Rep. goes to visit some of his Chinese friends. It's nearly dinner time and the kids get home from school, the parents are watching a war movie on CCTV3, where you can clearly see one guy choping of the head of another...

Demand would come from the players in China, and they have nothing to say. It's the govmt. that decides, no matter what the ppl want.
Believe me it's all about the money. China might have many subscribers but China isn't such an important market for them.
First it's the only country where blizz has to make so many changes for the game.
Second the money they get from the subcriptions, even if there are sooooooo many playing, is much less then for other countries.

So for a company they will see if it's worth the amount they put in and only if the out come is big enough they will spend the money.
Corruption might not be so obvious in Shanghai, Beijing and some other more international cities.
China is big and if you count the number of ppl living in
Shanghai, Beijing and the few int. cities it'll just make about a couple of % out of the whole population.
