Just modified wo batch as the restore function killed my wow last time so i prefer manual mod.

Dont get the version error while connecting only server are not availible but should be still fine lets wait until tomorrow (actually 1 min after midnight hehe) and i try again.

Having some issues upgrading my client on my home computer.

I upgraded my laptop client, but having a tough time with my desktop.

I removed all the changes to the client directory, and applied the patch to 3.3.0, which worked fine.

However, when I then applied the patch to go from 3.3.0 => 3.3.0a I get an error message right at the end of the patching process:

"The patch "base\component.wow-data.txt" could not be applied. (Invalid source file size: expected 94, actual 93.) If this problem persists, you may be able to solve it by uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. If you are unable to correct this problem, please contact Blizzard Technical Support. (BNUpdate::PTCApply)"

Don't seem to be able to get around it.

Might just have to wait and copy across the working client from my laptop tomorrow... which would mean I won't get on tonight, so won't be around for a raid

Downgrade your client and patch again it should be ok.

I only have patches from version 3.1.3 = > 3.3.5 so I'd have to download the patches from 3.0.1 to 3.1.3, which would take a few hours I think... (several Gb worth of patches between 3.0.1 and 3.1.3).

Will keep seeing what I can do.

on wowwikki 3.x.x → 3.2.0 Complete Patch (~1.2-1.6 GiB)

Maybe check in your data folder if no files are named with enCN in the end, but i doubt it s this.

Btw if you have a usb HD or can link your two computers you just need to copy paste your laptop wow into your desktop and you are ready to go.

I checked all then files are correctly named, I double checked before running the first patch. That is what confuses me - I was able to run the 3.2.2a => 3.3.0 patch with no problems, so I really don't understand why I have one now. Oh well.

And yes, at least I have it working on my laptop. Only problem is, Laptop is at the office. I can take it home from work tomorrow and sort myself out for tomorrow evening, which is great, but means I won't be around tonight

I'm unable to connect although servers seem up. Just "connecting.." and after a while "Unable to connect, please try again later". Anyone else?

I removed batch -> updated to 3.3.5 -> got new TOwowCN update -> batched -> and now I've been trying to connect for a while. I also modified realmlist.wtf already. Suggestions?

Maybe login servers are down atm, I can't connect either. If you see this message the patching process must have been successful.

I had a similar error that first time i apply the patch bot sure which number it couldnt write something in the data/dede folder.

Error said it might be a corrupt file and check restore or Hardrive space is not enough!

So i deleted some files on my HDD and then it worked like charm, maybe u check that. Before i only had 2gb free i cleared up to 4gb and it was OK.

Server are down atm . I can also not connect. Just got kicked out of the game.

I may be wrong somewhere but I can't install the updates on my client.

I am using a French Wow client in 3.2.2.12484 (it was ok untill last week).

I downloaded all the patchs, but I am not able to install them.
I should downgrade my client I think.

Question: Should I use the TOwowCN3.3.5.13507 batch file to downgrade it?
If yes, which option ? 3 or 4?
I actually try both without result.

I also try to manual downgrade, but when I start the repair.exe file I have an error saying it can't connect to the server...

Now I am wondering if I should delete/install again everything.
Did I miss something ? Should I replace some wow.exe files somewhere ?

If u used the batch file to fix your client you simply need to start it again and select RESTORE. Then you ll be able to patch again. 3.2.2.12484 means you still have the chinese files and modified filesnames applied to your client.

So I've used the batch to downgrade to 3.0.1 88xx or something. However, when I try to launch WoW in this state to check whether it is working or not, I get the following message:

(Missing or Corrupted Data) Failed to archive ****\local-****.mpq

I've already restored a bunch of times so kind of lost here :\

maybe try to check if there s no enCN named files left in the data folder. But it s strange, it's the first time I heard of a downgraded client that got corrupted. Have you tried the repair.exe again?

Ye I have tried that multiple times with no success. And Repair.exe gives me weird messages. Either it goes "not working because this version is chinese speech (english)" or even after verifying, gives me back the same problem.

Uru I need you to explain exactly what you did, otherwise it s impossible to tell you something else than to reinstall.

So you had your 3.2.2.a client. How did you patch it for chinese servers?

Then you had to revert the fix to start patch to 3.3.5.a, what did you use? What made you downgrade?

Then you used downgrade, and said the repair worked since you have a version 3.0.1. So now repair.exe doesn t work anymore? what did you do between the time it worked and now?

Right now I would try to delete the WTF and CACHE folder in your wow install, make sure there's no enCN named files and folders into your wow install as well and then restart a repair.exe.

If the problem persists it means you copied manually some files from the chinese client into the foreign, and since the downgrade didn t work you have to reinstall.

EDIT : if you use the US version make sure your realmlist contains

Ok I will explain everything.

When 3.2.2 came out in China, I used the old batch you made to play on Chinese servers. I presumably left the ToWowCN 3.2.2 file in my WoW file, since I had no problem playing whatsoever.

3.3.5a comes, I use stitch's downgrade technique, which is basically rename patch.mpq into patchbackup.mpq. Works, the repair starts to convert WoW into a 3.0.1 client. Great. (I still had not tried to launch WoW so far).
I download the Incremental 3.x.x-3.2.0 patch from Wowwiki. It patches, slowly but effectively. It is then that the problem starts. When finished patching, it tells me: "UnableToAddUpdateToGameExplorer" (windows vista's game explorer basically makes shortcuts for its users into a small file called game explorer). However, when I mouse-over WoW.exe, it tells me that the version is still 3.0.1. Great. I launch it to check if it really is 3.0.1:
"Cannot open archive ****\local-****.mpq". I've been trying to use stitch's technique ever since.

So lost~.

Actually you didn't have to downgrade to update but just use the restore option. You should have read the important :notice I added right at the beginning of the guide.

I don't have a clue on how you can fix your problem now, since repair.exe is supposed to do what it says. Reinstall?

Can you still use the restore as i explained? If not the patch installation has somehow screwed your wow. Also check in case you have severall wow versions installed repair might have done its job to another folder the you expect.

Basicly repair just installs a fresh client and would change all files exept the twowfolder from bolo to 3.0.1 state.
The incremental patch should then actually work it did the job for me.

As Bolo said i think your ENCN folder is still the one for the chinese version thats why u would get an error after patching. in a fresh repair there should be no ENCN folder existing only the one according your laguage DEDE,ENUS or so.
Make sure its the original or try to rename it before you use repair then it will replace it to the original state.

as its says 3.0.1 wow.exe but gives you an error on the mpq files it means the patch was not 100% installed, so your mpq files are properly upgraded but the wow.exe is not updated.


Repair and repatch is faster then reinstall !!!

Honestly, I don't know. I've just looked into the archive mpq error and it seems that in my enUS folder I am missing enUS-local.mpq , speech (enUS). mpq and base-enUS.mpq... Basically the mpq that change the game's language I guess.
Perhaps I screwed up the 3.2.2 installation somewhere. Anyhow, download is faster than I expected so no worries! =D

Ok just a quick question, I tried to download the English version of wow 3.0 but for some god forsaken reason it bumped me up to 4.0 automatically. Did I do something wrong? It said it was 3.0, does that mean I have to go out and try to buy an English version of WotLK? We only have the Chinese version at the moment so this might be our only option right?

Nope bolo. The Blizzard Installer only installs game up to 3.0 or 3.0.8. Rei must have used the launcher.

Yeah I think he used the launcher as well...he can't remember. But we've found all the patches and are loading them up now. Thanks for the tips.

- copy the file patch9.mpq into /wow/data
- copy the file patch-enCN-9.mpq into /wow/data/enCN
- copy the file realmlist.wtf into /wow/data/enCN
- copy wow.exe, launcher.exe, battle.net.dll into /wow

we downloaded the rar file but it has none of the files listed above- they are all OSZ files. I don't know if the link changed or if I some how got the wrong file but the the rar file is the same name as it's listed here. HELP!!

I downloaded the archive and all the files are alright. I don't know what osz files are. Maybe you redownload and try again. Btw you aren t on a mac are you?

Also why don t you use the batch file to fix the client for you. Manual patching = more chances to mess your client if you aren't sure what you are doing.

Thanks, we tried doing it on a different computer and they downloaded alright. I have no idea what he downloaded the first two times (although he did use this website for the link) but they were all Japanese names and osz files (I can't even find a record of what osz files are). But this is resolved and hopefully I'll have my WOW in English by the end of the night. Thanks for all the help (and patience).

Thanks for all the help with resolving my issues...I finally got the English version correctly installed! Too bad I basically have to relearn WOW now though. I have no idea what any of the missions are about because I never learned the names for anything or any zones- but I'll learn. It's like a whole different world to me now...

I had some problems when I saw it was updating...but saw the message at the top of the post and figured it out OK. (I had to look up what the hell a batch file was but it's done...again)

Hi mate its Better to give a detailed information of what u did or did to mess it up. So people here can give u some suggestion or help. Do u use the English client then just patch it to 3.3.5 and apply bolls files thats all u need to do !

I don't think you're supposed to use the installer AT ALL. If you use the installer/ launcher then it will download either the Chinese version with no English or the US version Cata-

You need to get a foreign language version of Patch it to 3.3.5.a(3.3.5.12340) and then

3. In C:\wow\data rename the folder enUS into enCN (enUS folder is named differently depending on the language of your client. German will be deDE, french frFR.)

4. In C:\wow\data\enCN. ALL the files name containing "enUS" must be renamed with "enCN" . ex. patch-enUS.mpq must be renamed patch-enCN.mpq. (enUS files are named differently depending on the language of your client. German will be deDE, french frFR.)

5. copy C:\wow\data\enCN\realmlist.wtf. rename the copy realmlist.wtf.bak

6. dowload this archive http://www.gamefront.com/files/20053363/TOwowCN3.3.5.13685.rar and extract it somewhere

- copy the file patch9.mpq into /wow/data
- copy the file patch-enCN-9.mpq into /wow/data/enCN
- copy the file realmlist.wtf into /wow/data/enCN
- copy wow.exe, launcher.exe, battle.net.dll into /wow

(if you wish to use your own .exe files, know that it must come from an up-to-date chinese client. the *.mpq files need to be downloaded from the forum, they just contain a simple text file with a version number, so no worries)

7. download http://www.filefront.com/17325058/Fonts.rar and extract it in your c:\wow. You should have a new Font folder c:\wow\Fonts.(you need to do this if you wanna read Chinese symbols in game)

8. start the game with wow.exe

- note: To restore your client just reverse what you did in this guide and you are good. you'll have to do this if an update must be applied on your foreign client.

Tuesday March the 1st Netease released a new build 3.3.5.13685 of the Chinese client. If your client already has the fix applied
please download the latest TOwowCN archive at this address http://www.gamefront.com/files/20053363/TOwowCN3.3.5.13685.rar
extract it in your wow folder, execute the batch file and select the INCREMENTAL option.

Ok im playing now 4.0.6 EU EN/DE so i cant downgrade my game.
So ive downloaded the patch none -> 3.0 this was a downloader but it didnt worked out.
Now im downloading the patch from a ftp, with the chinese internet the next 5 days
Then the other Patches...

So i think the best would be if someone could pack and upload his client somewhere or send it on QQ <3

S4 some ppl reported they were able to download wotlk via the official installer by cancelling an updgrade of the launcher. But I never tested it so I'm not sure.

Someone uploading the client is pointless since the folder is around 18Giga, much more than what you need to download.

Wow Taiwan is running on cataclysm, if you don't want to wait you might as well check the guides for taiwan.

Im actually sick of cataclysm, we were raiding since start till the last month thru, every day 7 hours becouse of the progress till 13/13 heroic was clear so i really wish i can play chinese wotlk ^^
