Just a head's up for when cataclysm releases in China.

If you want to download the install setup you cant use the one from the official website as this setup is automaticly patched to the latest version (4.1.??)

So better start checking for a download site or something for 4.0.0
I purchased the game in europe so I'm getting the cd's send to me by mail if anyone has trouble finding a good version I could try and upload those but let me know if you need this in advance.

I thought downloading Cataclysm when I wanted to try Taiwan Servers was a waste. Seems not!

Is CWOW going to run 4.0 ? I remember reading somewhere that they were going straight to 4.1... If not I guess ill be playing in chinese for a while.

but then better start downloading now as they might update before 12 July to a newer version, the installation of WoW from official site always has the latest version.

they will probably goto 4.1 to take out a bunch of juicy exploits..

As said in other threads the courrent pre download patch is 4.1.14023 the European can be maximum patched to 4.1.14007 the patch after that would be 4.2.

It's always good to keep a Chinese client on ur harddrive

Can someone please post an idiot's guide to patching Cataclysm? I stopped playing for a while and today hubby just informed me that Cata was coming in 2 days! So I have to get my butt in gear if I want to play again. He said he'll download it for me but he doesn't really know what needs to be done (if there's anything special). He's got it easy because he just plays in Chinese but I need my English.

Oh, by the way we're trying to get in contact with our old guild members, but if we can't we'll probably be moving servers as well. We'd like to stick with alliance if possible- it's too hard for me to relearn everything from scratch.

You'll have to wait for the 12 july for any guides to be updated. As for moving to another server i d check The Crazy waiguorens on alterac. It's horde but there s a lot of foreigners playing there atm and they will be able to answer your questions and help you.

There is already a guide in the forum how to get prepared and patch ur eu client to 4.1a, don't forget u have to apply all patches manual do not use the launcher or blizzard updater without being sure it apples the patch u want. So far there is no guide how to make the client work , have to wait for the 12th when people can try yo modify it.

Since all the patches u need are rough 7-8th in total u better get started downloading them if u want yo be ready for the 12th

Thanks for the heads up...I'll start downloading now. But I have a kind of stupid question, these are just patches? We don't need to download a new version of WOW right? I'm pretty sure my husband started downloading a NEW version- He mentioned that it was going to take more than 10 hours to "download Cataclysm" for the US version. I just want to double check so we're not stuck again.

He said that he's downloading a 'patch' that is over 5gb- and this is ONLY THE FIRST ONE. He said he'll have to download 6-7 total but the others are much smaller. Does this sound right?

just need the patches!! If he download the full client he will have the wrong game version as all full clients in EU are already on patch 4.2 and he cannot use that one. The patches iclude all he needs for Cataclysm in china.

Little Bit of confusion from my part.

I downloaded the big patches from Wowwiki. Problem is, they are files that are .zip . How would I update then?

By unzipping them first.

I've got an mpq and a .tfil after unzipping...

That's why you gotta wait for a guide.

Uru now I know what your problem was. MPQ+tifl package = not the full version of the mpq. Try to not use those.

Now for exemple I tried to download 4.0.1.13205 → Patch 4.0.3.13287 4.0.1.13205 to version 4.0.3.13287 — ~470Mib for the US client

On AusGamers the arhive would be 3.2mb (mpq+tif) when on atomicgamer it is 314mb (also has a mpq+tif), so for now I'd try to download the large package instead of the small ones. Try different download links.
