- THIS IS A CUSTOM LAUNCHER AND CAN BE DETECTED BY BLIZZARD. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
This is the first line people have been reading in the last guide we provided on the forum, and since some people seemed concerned about this message I thought we could talk about in a thread.
99.99999% of the custom launchers used in the world are used for :
Cheating, Botting, Pirating(Private servers), showing bones.
Now the one we are using is quiet unique. It allow us to be normal customers. I mean we are paying for every minutes we play, we aren't trying to cheat or to bot or anything. If we had to play with the Chinese client, even with addons most people would forget about playing on mainland anyway, the language barrier is just too overwhelming.
There's one thing we can almost be certain of, it is that from now on we will have to use a custom launcher to play on mainland servers, be it skeleton.exe or AK-80's launcher, because blizzard added some integrity checks, and for now these are the only known ways to bypass them.
Personally I have a preference for AK-80's fix. It requires to be updated each time Chinese clients get a new build, but the method is pretty straightforward, allow you to play even if the client is still streaming, plus AK did things well on his end by providing us the source code and telling us how to update it and where to contact him.
I think if a few people on the forum were able to handle this program that would be a good thing.
And if one day Netease start to ban us because we are using this. Well maybe that would be the occasion for us "the foreign community" to start a dialog with them, and see if there could be an official way to allow us to play in English.
But I'm pretty sure they rather have us find ways to play than deploy extra resources just for us, which is fine.
So here, like the horde, we aren't bad guys, we just wish to pay and play. So don't freak out and if one day we get banned because of this it will be the occasion to show them there are foreigners who wish to play on their servers and that might perhaps unlock the situation. And if it doesn't, we still got alternatives.
Thanks for reading.
