I need anyone with whatever knowledge or good understanding of logic (that sometimes helps a LOT), and who wishes to contribute and help our progress in finding solutions when version numbers dont match of english / french clients with chinese servers.

i need some people that are able together with me, to set up an emergency cell, once those cases happen (not very often), and work on a solution.

Seems like there are other with the same problem. I used WOW enUS client for playing in South Korea until the famous 2.0.11 patch arrived here. Now it's grinding time using korean client.

Hopefully, we could find some fix together ??

BTW, for korean font inside enUS I got a patch. Just got to patch after installation and prior to applying any updates. Is there any similar for chinese characters ?

i dont really wann download the WHOLE wow + BC client from TWN. i MUST install TWN version then also. i have wow 7 times on my PC (US + CHN versions together). all diff version numbers and some temp installs to play and try around with.
thats a LOT of GB, folks. now add 2-3 more (TBC is bigger even) to that. crap.

i am gonna see how fast it will download. eventually i can use our huge office bandwidth. we'll see.

its good to know korea has the same problem, being patched to x.11 . that might be an asia wide version then. could you guys do something silly? are trial accounts for twn still available?
please compare build numbers, and have someone from korea login to twn server or the other way around. i want / need to konw if they have an additional check in-game in TBC or if they just check version number.
because the approach for a "universal solution" is different then.

I tried to connect to Taiwan server and got no wrong version when I tried (only wrong user/pass). I would conclude that the korean client is same as taiwanese client.

good news:
if you can connect with the KR client on TW server it means TBC still does version check only. not other secondary checks fro region of the client.

this means: we can ust the exact same approach as for v. 1.12.3,

use TW (or KR) client's files that are needed for version check (wow.exe and a few DLL files, etc), and then add the resources which are in the TW/KR client to our US client.

has anyone found out which files are in the TW/KR client that are not in the US client? (files inside the MPQ files)

if you dont understand what i mean, i will give a simple graphic explanation with a few screenshots on how to do this and what i mean.
i can check the US TBC client from my end without probs. i have one. i dont have the TW / KR client.

even a simple file listing of the whole tree of wow with all MPQ files decompressed would be enough for me to see it. (filename + size)

again. if you dont know my meaning, ask, i explain and ont bite. we all have the same goal.

basically, once i know the files, you can forward only those files (shouldn't be too huge, considering i am only getting the actual patched files) and i can do definite tests for our patcher.

other question. is there a specifi patch for TW/KR version, from 2.0.10 -> 2.0.11? if so, tell me where to download it. basically thats all i would need. if you have it in your wow root somewhere (background downloader leaves them there), let me know, or upload someplace. thanks.

100g... hmmmmm still cheaper than enchanting to level...
and 100g you can 2-man farm in Stratholme / undead side in about 1 hour - 2hours, for each of the 2 men (being 2 mages who can aoe)

just fish outside of wailing caven and sell those deviate delight for 10G a stack. take about 1h to fish 10 stack, that's 100G.

OR team up with other druid or rogue and stealth in instances and kill bosses.

oh just a quick word dont bother wasting time getting better eq, a lot of it can be replaced in a few days when you go to the outlands

my third toon a noob mage, hit 60 a few months ago and is already +360 spell dmg and +420 frost damage and 70% of the items are from quests 61-62 mostly soloable

hmmm... true....... so i am only 60 and have way more +DAM / +HIT / +crit than you..... including items which are still of high value at lvl-70, because you wont replace them as quick, even with questdrops.....

the casual players / quester gear becomes stronger, yes. i will replace some pieces, yes... but it'll be long time before you get epixxx, and some many are fully viable at 70 still. or check char profiles from top raiding guilds in US / EU, and see them still running around with neltharion's tear, etc.

if you never had any raiding equp. then yes, dont bother trying to get some now. but i am at 600 spelldMG with 16% crit and 16% hit...... now guess who will butter through quests and dungeaons faster? your 60 green mage or my mage?

it seems awesome because your mage didn't have epics.
thats my point. my T2.5 would last longer than your greens or blues. and yes, blizz makes stronger gear, because even the casual will face stronger mobs. same than you wont compare hurricane bow (lvl 42 or 46 epic) to a level 60 epic bow.
but the hurrican bow is still lasting me on my hunter at level 54. see my point?

even though all shoulders for mages suck somehow. same goes for belts.

point being is that some gear is very useful, still at 70. not saying i will entirely keep it. it will surely be replaced. but not "that" fast, and not by any drop that has 1 DMg more on it. simple fact remains that you need to balance all stats. -10 spell resistance > 5DMG ... and the mana regen is sweet to have (less drinking = faster grinding). i got tons of regen gear.

i see your point. yes. it'll be replaced yes, but probably for the casual player well before the raiding player.

furthermore, blizz did not make casuals and raider's the same.
check high end instance gear, and its far beind that.

they just made it more simple for the casual one to access a high end instance, while being 5-10 man.

the highes tier instance wont be accessed by any casual in the next 6 months though, if you check how many other instances he should have completed in hardcore mode + grinding reputation + finishing LONG questchains, before he can gain access.

i rarely see casuals do the sick reputation grind that blizzard offers us each time.

trust me, the difference will be there again, and again, the casuals will whine and expect to run around in uber-gear for zero effort.
time is an effort as well. and i know many people who employ lots of time and still dont get the gear because god knows why they dont get past a certain point in the game.

we will replace gear. but raiders will do it later and with much more care than the casual gamer, who will finally have more than +150 spellDMG on his back.

T4 has "mainly" 13int more than my current head. the other STA / SPI differneces are VERY minor and unless more gear adds in small doses, just for this one slot, unnoticeable.
you will notice the int difference. yes. but then again. you gotta be already level 70 (!!!!) to use it and master dungeons in hardcore mode to obtain this drop.

i just checked through almost every slot there is with available options.
and the earliest i would replace any piece would probably be at 66, and some at 68.
there rest would then be replaced mostly by... (again) raiding and instance gear.

my hunter alt (who will hopefully soon be 60, hopefully before TBC starts) will most probably.... almost 100% sure replace his gear at 61, 62, 63, 64,..., 70.
because he hasn't raided yet, and because either i wont sleep and not go to work and hit rank 14 pvp, or he simply will be in greens / blues and crafted gear + hopefully some farmed DM gear.

casual gear != raiding gear. and now, thanx to your post which gave me the incentive to check on gear, i know why i still raid (apart from the fun).

i looked a lot into gear, for a long time. STA is being bursted massively, in order to avoid current one-shotting of casuals.

if i see an equivalent of an "american / european casual" geared player on our server, you can be sure he gets one shotted.

i read thottbott and alakhazam forums + blizz forums last night, and when i got to the new spell Ice Lance, i saw people complaining that mages would hit them at 70 for 2200 crit while frozen. my current frostbolt crits 2200-2600 unbuffed, depending on mob / player. and it crits a lot... hehe...
i did calculations with ice lance and curretn +dam gear and a mean 40/0/21 arcane-ice build, and ice lance should crit beyond 3000, especially if you arcane power + trinket it.... i might get it to about 3400 with current gear and that build, which is insane.

i think there is a difference between western "casual" players and chinese ones. chinese "casuals" still do BWL / TAQ, etc...

last night farming DK with some friends (gonna post the video, you MUST see this), everybody complained about one mage (4 mage group), because he "just hit 60" and how come the sucker only had 270ish spellDMG gear.

i just think the chinese people go for the gear more, at the lack of talent and skill in some cases. but hell... they do what they want.

for itemisation though, as a mage.... tailoring FTW..... crafted epic sets will outDMG T4 and have WAYYYYY more STA for PVP...so i know what my entry set for arena matches at 70 will be.

Naklin will definitely stay tailoring / enchant, and luna will respec mining this week and take 2 nights to twnik him to 300, and then pick up jewelcrafting. with the instances being low numbered groups, there is a higher probability to get the "drop-recipes" than in 40 man raids. its worth the while.

so i'll be crafting lots of shit for you guys.

have a look at the tailoring gear for higher levels.... it is BADASS.

ya icelance was imba but now,once you crit a frozen target it becomes unfrozen even by coc - sux

folks were being pummeled by icelance crits over and over until they died

icelance behaves on crits the same way fireblast does now....
cast frostbolt, spamm icelance or frostbolt during cast like an idiot, both will most probably crit....
i do the frostbolt + fireblast thingie for ages.... on any good moment i get 3500 DMG in 2.5 seconds... ain't that a joy... ^^
