UPDATED ON: 29/04/13 (DD/MM/YYYY)
Version: For foreign client 5.3.0 on Chinese servers 5.3.0
REMEMBER TO MAKE A COPY OF YOUR GAME

Playing on Chinese Servers with a Mac

1. Install the foreign streaming client:

Mirror #1 (English Version)

2. TODO EACH TIME AFTER A EU/US CLIENT UPDATE. In your wow folder make a copy of both wow.app, wow-64.app and launcher.app, then rename the copies into wow.app.bak, wow-64.app.bak and launcher.app.bak.

Do not touch those .bak files until the next foreign client update, so do not replace those files if you applied a chinese launcher update on your client.

3. In the \WoW\WTF folder make a copy of config.wtf and rename it to config.wtf.bak.

Open Config.wtf and modify the lines:

Code:
Set portal "us"

to

Code:
Set portal "cn"

If you can't find the line, just add it in.

4. Download one of the font archive below, click to open it and drag it into your WoW folder. You should have \wow\Fonts folder (you need to do this if you want to read Chinese symbols in game.)

New fonts : https://wow-in-chinese.forum2jeux.com/t2385-new-font-for-english-client#22474

5. Start the game with WoW.app and NOT with the WoW Launcher!

Once your client has finished updating, go into your WoW folder and open Launcher.db (right-click, open-with, select TextEdit) and change xxXX (enUS, frFR, enGB for example) into:

Code:
zhCN

6. Download a few addons to enhance gameplay.

If you already have an up to date Windows version of WoW and want to start playing on OS X, you don't need to download the Mac client. The following procedure should work with all available languages (Game version 5.1.0.16357):

1. Copy the complete WoW folder from Windows to an external harddisk.

2. Delete all .exe and .dll files in WoW main folder (not necessary but recommended).

3. Download the Mac files (Wow & Launcher.app) from here: Rapidshare

4. Copy the WoW folder into "Applications" on your Mac.

5. Extract the downloaded Mac files & copy it into the WoW main folder.

6. Change to /WTF and backup the existing Config.wtf . Now open Config.wtf and change the line set portal US into set portal CN.

7. Start the game with the 32/64bit World of Warcraft.app instead of launcher.app. This will avoid updates while chinese servers are still on older version.
