This is my 3rd hunter, and I've finally taken the time to figure out how to successfully pull off a jump shot. This isn't a new idea, I just never figured it out until now. It's not too difficult...and WELL worth learning how to do. Especially for PvP.

Basically just jump while running away, swivel around and pop a shot (concussive, sting, or arcane) off quickly mid turn, land and keep running. If ya do it right you're still running in the same direction (or close).

If ya don't know how to do it...go practice on some low lvl junk. It is really helpful when you need to kite something...like a rogue or warrior that's on your ass. I haven't tried it yet, as I'm not specced for it, but I'd guess scatter shot would be awesome for this too.

dude you don't need to spec. for it and its also the basis of kiting, just use arcane shot and poison, you never need to stop for shots and can kite someone from one continent to another. the damage sucks but the idea is to wear them down.

Hell I even does it with my warlock and any class with instant spells.

you DO need to spec if you want scattershot. my latest hunter is lvl 37 with ALL talent points in BM for leveling. if you reread my above post...you'll understand.

dude, no offense but you really don't need to spec. to kite.

you don't even need to be a hunter to kite. any class with instant ranged spell/skills can kite. or any class with cc can also kite.

ever see a mage kite a warrior?

scatter shot helps but not necessary, you can fake dead+freeze trap. or if you're beastmaster use your pet's intimidate. hell even concussive shot is enough to pull off a multishot to add to your DPS.

but again multishot isn't necessary either.

Read this...now read it again. I was ONLY saying that I haven't tried a jump shot using scatter shot because I don't have the ability. jeesh.

trout: dont you ever use scatter shot to kite (jumpshoot). its a waste of MANA, and time.
you use sting, and arcane shot. the idea behind it is to wear something down, before it reaches you, over some long time.
in pvp? yes, i use it... a LOT...... i kite rogues... why? they fun to kite. they believe that with sprint they WILL catch you..... unless, of course, the walk in to the freezing trap you just set... (MAUAHAHAHA), and then their sprint is on a LONG cooldown... and you keep on stinging them, which prvents them from vanishing.
warks on warriors as well, with a slight difference in strat.... hell... works on most things.

but DONT use scattershot. kitting != DPS.

Yeah, I'll be working towards 31/20 until 60, then pick another spec from there....maybe 30/21 for scatter shot LOL.

I love when a melee class stops chasing me to mess with my pet. BOOM!...intimidation, another concussive...not looking good for them at that point

Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that I know a lot of hunters don't use jump shots. It's a helluva nice skill to figure out and learn.

who don't know how to jump shot?
ever played quake before?
jump -> turn 180 deg. -> shot/cast -> turn 180 deg. -> land & continue running.
its a timeframe of about 1.0 -1.5 seconds, which is longer than in quake3.

but even for non-quakers. any good mage should know how to jumpshot, in order to fireblast-kite without chill, when soloing elites that are non-kiteable.

as far as the kiting goes. on a lazy day i just strafe-run and kite. the result is the same than jump shot. shooting something without ever stopping to run away. ^^

also if the mob/enemy player gets too close to you, just scatter shot (if ur specced for that), get some distance between and carry on kiting them. Annoying thing is sometimes warriors intercept for and hamstring and then ur probably going to slip into a bit of difficulty there.
