Hey Nak, or anyone else.

I use an English client to play on a Chinese server. A year ago I downloaded the fonts, possibly your fonts, and installed them to the directory. Everything worked fine. I could read and write in Chinese just like in notepad or whatever else.

Then I deleted wow. I just reinstalled it for the expansion. Put the same fonts back in the directory (I saved them), and I can read everything just fine, just like before, but whenever I try to type now it just comes up with ? . And when I paste it does gibberish, just like someone else mentioned above, but I didn't really see an answer.

Something has changed here from the last time. I saw all your mention of unicode and whatnot, but I am not clear how that works. I am not using any addons whatsoever.

I just checked and it is the exact same fonts you have linked at the top of this thread. I just downloaded that to be sure.

Did anyone ever solve the problem Dizzy had? Or maybe you did dizzy? I too have this same problem. I can't copy and paste characters from WoW to windows based applications like a webpage or notepad.

I use "chatter" to copy. I've tried prat as well. However, today ....the weirdest strangest thing happened. I copied some text in wow and said what the hell and gave it a shot. I copied it to my address bar in Firefox....boom it appeared as it should! i was like WHOA! so i tried to do it again and got the gibberish as usual.

The only thing I can think of for that, is to use a 'chat logging' addon. Then try copying and pasting from the chat log instead of from in game.

Several patches ago, I could copy and paste from the game with no problem, not quite sure when it changed and started pasting gibberish due to whatever text encoding the game uses though.

Xyu when you copy some chinese chars from wow you have to make sure you are on chinese keyboard mode. Then the chars will show correctly.

Weirdly I can copy from Wow to windows but when I pick some task from Window to Cwow here is what I have ?????.

Does someone have a solution for this? That 'd be so helpful for me.

Is your Windows default unicode fonts setting is set to Chinese (PRC) ? Maybe that's the problem, because if you are in French for example, the accents will show (é, è,...) but not the chinese caracters.
If you are in Chinese, the ??? should appear as caracters but you won't be able to see any accent.

To switch between Chinese and French (or any language), go to

Control Panel -> Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options -> Regional and Language Option -> 3rd tab (Advanced).
There you will see a "Language for non-Unicode programs" and a list of countries and there respective language. Choose Chinese (PRC) and it should be okay.

Found one version on my external hd. 2.4 version.

Now downloading 3.1 Patch. 3 hours to go. Life is so cool.

hey guys,

So I have the fonts and everything. i can see chinese character just fine in game. however, i cannot type them. I switch my layout to qianpin (I tried a few different layouts) and the options for characters show up as question marks. Can someone help me with this problem? I saw some others asked the same question in this thread and i don't think i saw an answer. thanks
