1. Getting everything that you need !

In order to make the installation you will need the following:

1. A NEW European / US client which you can download of the official website !
2. The Font file which u need later.
These are the chinese fonts files for reading / writing
3. And last but not least: A Taiwanese WoW account, Click Here! For the guide !

2. Here we go !

1. install the client of the language of your choice first e.g. English / german / russian.

2. Update your Client to the current version.
You can fill in any random account name and password it will update anyway!

3. Go to your C:/ World of Warcraft Folder .
This path might be different if you install it in a different folder

4. Go into the Data folder, then into the enUS/enGB/frFR/deDe/ruRU folder and open the file realmlist.wtf
sidenote: you can open this file with notepad or word.

5. Change the text inside the file so it looks as the following:
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn ""
set portal us

Or like this when your WoW is European:
set realmlist tw.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set realmlistbn ""
set portal eu

then save it.
You might want to keep a Copy of the original file since you need these settings if you would like to update your game client to the next version.
Or you can simply changes the lines back the way they were for your country's settings.

6. Extract the Font file you DOWNLOADED into your World of Warcraft game folder.

7. Start up the game and see what happens !

Information How to set Up Netpass Proxy:
Go to http://www.netpas.cn/index.htm
1. Push the Button on the top Right with the Green Symbol
2. Push the 注册 to create your Account
3. Insert your 用户名 Name, 密码 Password, 密码确认 Re Enter Password,邮件地址 Email
4. Click 注册 to send your Information
5. You will receive a confirmation E-Mail, click the Link in the E-Mail and log in with your account Name and Password (Don’t delete it you need the Confirmation Code from it later!!)
6. Now push the second Tab on the top of the internet Page and download the Netpass ACC Software. Just Click 下载网络加速软件 and then 本地下载 .
7. Install the Software (As Administrator under Vista and Win7), restart your PC
8. Start the software and go back to http://www.netpas.cn/index.htm
9. Log In into your account on the Webpage, inside the account page will be a Link on the top right to Activate your Software (Sorry forget the Chinese as I have activated it already)
10. Input your activation Code you received in the E-Mail before (I had problems that the first time I made it and get an error wrong confirmation number, I restarted my PC started Netpass ACC and did the Confirmation thing again than it worked)
11. That’s all your Done you will receive a Trail period with the standard connection
12. To use the Netpass ACC just enter your account name and password and choose the first option from the Drop Down menu and connect.
13. Netpass also offer a special connection proxy for WOW Taiwan but the service has to be paid.
14. I will update the Guide after I have done once for myself, payment can be done via UnionPay, Taobao, QQ and the cost for one Year is ~360RMB.

Now how to make the application use the special wow proxy.

Go into your account settings and first apply for the Taiwan service.
Then you go to charge and you will see on the bottom you can choose between china or Taiwan proxy , choose Taiwan and you can charge for 7 ,14, or more days and it will be deducted from your 4500nb

I hope you can read Chinese if not ask a friend to help you in the menues. P

Is this still applicable with battle.net intergration. The US client uses battle.net account login and region select. I can't get in the TW realms by editing realmlist.wtf. Any help or info would be greatly appreciated.

There is no battlenet in Taiwan. You have to make the account as described above.
I am still playing on the Taiwan server.

I need to check if the latest patch was already applied in Taiwan since I just updated my Europe account.

Thanks. I thought I have to use either the US or EU client to play in English. I will have to try it again. I got a TW account and unicode fonts yesterday. I just haven't figured out how to get it to work with the client.

The US version is on sale until the 30th, bundled with all the expansions. I will probably buy it and play cross region if this doesn't work out.

didn't play on Tw servers, so don't know if both work

After the 4.0 update this patchlist line was included for the new launcher and backgroundloader. I have not seen the original Taiwan realmlist file after the update what is standing inside there. But i could only start the game if i kept the line as above mentioned.

And yes the Pre Cata event is awesome. Ogrimar is totally shatered feels like playing a total new wow.

Yes you update your US client before play on TW server, that's the same version with both US and EU.

But for Cata, I'm waiting to know how to deal with TW server to upgrade the game.

From my knowledge, you do nothing. Just add a MyCard or WoW Card and you're good to go.

One more thing.

The first and second links to the font file are different. The first one is downright wrong - downloaded that one and it gave me completely unrelated fonts. The second one MAY be the right one, but it's currently BROKEN, so I wouldn't know.

It's not the link, it's downloading the actual file. I tried it on both Firefox and Chrome. Same error.

After Mists of Pandaria release there is NO MORE REALMLIST!
To be able to join a taiwanese server on a EU / US Client you have to go to World of Warcraft\WTF\Config.WTF and add the line

SET portal "zhTW"

after this, just save and now you'll be able to play on a taiwanese server on EU/US client!
