| | | Wed 29 Jul 2009 - 17:30 # | No i said this cuz you don't need to understand your interface to do some PvP. So you just can play in Chinese. It's my case. And i'm quite good at it. EDIT : I will add that, if you look at my avatar more carefully, you'll see that it would not have been very smart from me to say PvErs are noobs. | | |
| | | Wed 29 Jul 2009 - 17:40 # | Play WOW in chinese? No way. Wasting time. We have some experts here and for sure they're going to find a way. | | |

| | | Wed 29 Jul 2009 - 18:21 # | No problem, same thing for me it drives me mad to have lost a 52 mage and eventually not to be able to play anymore. But the principal is that I still have my main account with all my 70's thanks to a friend, so if I ever play again, I won't be totally lost And Nous-> You know why I miss WoW ? Dwarves' laziness We are KingZ us, dwarves priests | | |
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 3:50 # | Any ideas, how we should going on? I mean, we cannot wait until a messias comes with a solution how we can connect with a EU/US client. | | |
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 4:01 # | We need to do much more testing, notably whith an non-WLK EU/US install.
I just have a WOTLK US install for now, the donwloads of chinese client and patching my tbc english client will take at least 2 days, you are our only hope...
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 4:11 # | I have an idea. No joking now.
We should announce a competition on the big chinese WOW forums.
The guy, who present us at first a running western language wow client on chinese servers will get the price. I am willing to pay 500RMB in the pot. If we all collect some money here on the forum, there should be a nice salary to win.
Again, I am not joking. What do u guys think about this.
Lee, what do you think about this? You are familar with the chinese wow forums. For sure, here in China are many good software freaks which should be able to find a quick solution. If you think it will work, can you help us with the announcement on the big forums?
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 4:26 # | Yeah we can try but someone have to explain everything, my chinese is rudimentary. But I'm sure we can find a solution, actually besides some files, the wow packages are almost identical between the chinese and EU versions. If we really cannot make an EU/US client work we can still replace the files containing the chinese texts etc with the english ones. But to have this working you must have two TBC client one chinese one EU/US and then you can start working on it | | |
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 4:38 # | "If we really cannot make an EU/US client work we can still replace the files containing the chinese texts etc with the english ones." You really think ? I don't because we could actually download a language pack on the official website, that means you have to ADD something, not to perform a simple modification. Well as I said I don't have my folders with me, so I won't be of any help for now, at least I can tell you guys what I think of your ideas, this will avoid losses of time | | |
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 4:47 # | I will installing now german TBC client. 7CDs in total.
But after this I need to patch from 2.4.3 to actual what needs several days. Just now I started to download the 2.4.3 > 3.0.1 patch with 7KB/s :-(

I know it, caus I did it...

| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 5:37 # | german TBC client 2.4.3 Version8606 is installed. Now it's patching time. I will check later in the evening, while my wife can enjoy her chinese client | | |
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 5:52 # | i have an idea!!
there are such things as language packs. it lets you to play in a different language than the language of the game you got originally.
would this work with CWOW?
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/downloads/elp/
that way we could just buy CWOW from some random store and change the language.
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 6:06 # | You could do this in the past, acutally no need to download a package, 1/just go to your wowEU(US)/data folder copy the folder enUS or enGB or deDE depending the language you run 2/then past it in the chinese wow/data folder. 3/open your chinese wow/WTF/config.wtf with notepad and change the line SET locale "cnZH" with SET local "enUS" or "enGB" or "deDE", "frFR" depending the language you are running.
In the past it worked but using our foreign client on chinese servers also worked. But someone must try this to see what happens log wise etc...

balls. | | |
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 8:36 # | TBC just finished patch to 3.0.1
Patch do 3.0.2 is running now. Until now it looks similar as chinese client. No lichking.MPQs inside.
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 8:45 # | A few encouraging words for you all who are trying to run it. We believe in you team. | | |
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 8:54 # | The download for a english language pack is also running now. The idea is worth a test for sure.
Bolomas, are you able to download also a language pack. Even if it doesn't work directly, at least we can analyse the MPQ files. I thin, you also have some experience in MPQ extracting.
If we are able to extract the language files in the MPQs, that will be an improvement. If i don't see skeletons in the game, I don't take care. Maybe we can take the language files from the pack, extract them and change them with files inside the chinese MPQs.
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 9:01 # | the package you download will be exactly the same that the ones in your german wow/data/deDE folder. I already used this method in the past, you can trust me . It's like if you were downloading a whole deDE or enGB folder, to add it in your wow/data folder. after download you'll have to download the patches for the package language you downloaded, but you ll end up with the same files version, the 3.1.3.9941... The first thing worth trying once you get two TBC at 3.1.3 is copying the folder "deDE" inside chinese wow/data/ and modify the config.wtf as mentioned on the previous post. It'll have the same effect than using the language pack. | | |
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 9:13 # | 23hours of download left for my chinese client. Won't be able to test things today Hopefully a non Woltk EU/US client will solve the problem. | | |
| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 9:26 # | Wht don't you buy it? Lots faster. Either a video game shop or even a 7/11 | | |
| | Gast Guest | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 9:31 # | Maybe you already know, but anyway..
The chinese client has 2 folders in the data folder.
zhCN enCN
If you running the game with in enCN version you have at least english soundfiles.

| | | Thu 30 Jul 2009 - 10:49 # | One interesting thing to try would be to copy the chinese wow folder zhCN and copy it in the eu/US client then starting with chinese wow.exe.
We could see if the version problem comes from outside or inside the language folder.
When I see 7/30 10:41:05.546 Login program=WoW platform=Win locale=zhCN I wonder if they didn't change the way the game log to the server and now check the locale of the game. If locale isn't zhCN or enCN then you cannot connect. If it's the case then it will be difficult to have an english wow on chinese servers in the futur. If not impossible.

I have a FRESH and PURE german TBC client installed. Patched to 3.1.3 9947. I logged on EU servers but got the message, that my EU account is for WOTLK but the installed Version is only TBC. So it is confirmed by Blizzard, that no WOTLK data is on this installation.
What should I try now? I cannot thinking anymore :-)

There must be something with the locale.MPQ file.
Also interesting. As soon as I copy my deDE folder in the chinese data folder, I get no wowerror, but when I try to login, I get the message, please contact the support, there is something wrong with your installed game.
So no other MPQ folder except enCN and zhCN is allowed in the data folder.
They really don't like, that we play in a western language.
